Today we are finally reviewing Selfless By Hyram. Hyram's new skincare line, powered by the Inkey List.
So of course Hyram is a friend of mine, I am super, super excited for Hyram, I’m so happy for him, so I am excited about this review and these products.

Hey! Just posting to say, people are allowed to like and also dislike these products. Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion. So please no arguing in the comments. I fully appreciate the constructive feedback / criticism of the brand both positive and negative 💜
much love to you both!
We love a positive king
You and Robert really have so much integrity. Hyram is so young and he seems like he really cares, but he's going to make mistakes, as we all do. I think he will take the criticism and learn and grow. I hope anyway. ETA And I'm really glad he has people like you in his life. It will help. The Doctorly channel just did a review and I liked what he had to say.
I respect that,We can all have civil discussions about the negatives and postives of the brand without resorting to harassment.
Just ordered the niacinamide &maracuja moisturizer.
I totally need it!!! Light one for the day so I can use my Fotoultra Isdin fusion water 50+ sunscreen!!
Peptides for the night.
And for the rest of the products I will wait for the toner and most probably will try one of the serums when I finish any of the 3 I have in my counter now.
so… he has become the very thing he swore to destroy… 🤔
These Folks Who “LOVE HYRAM” Are Only Going To Make Him A lot Richer That’s All!!!👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻😱
This is why I stand by the belief that fame, money, and power changes anyone even the most humble and purest of people. I do not think that Hyram is intentionally malicious or was just acting like he cares, but it just shows how easy it is to let things get to your head when everyone is begging you for your skincare line and personal advice on a daily basis simply because he makes videos on the topic.
I really wanted to like this launch, but I feel like if Selfless didn’t exist and a new brand (completely unrelated to Hyram) launched the exact same products as Selfless and Hyram reviewed them, they wouldn’t necessarily be ‘Hyram approved’ 😬 Between the green washing, the subpar ingredients list and low concentrations, the PR and branding, and the price range, it’s a no from me ☹️
good point! Hyram would have a lot of negative things to say.
After watching Cassandra Bankson’s review, I feel even worse towards the line.
@@Coolblog2010 unless the brand was paying him to promote them like he does with other brands
I've never liked him, especially after watching a video called "Skincare by Hyram is a Hypocrite", the lady couldn't be more correct about him.

@@Sugarangel84 thx
I was like, wait wait?! Lol
They’re accessible except in Africa 😩. Skin care brands neglect us a lot and then we have to go through extra stress to get these products.
I know right, its soo annoying. Everyone forgets about us. We should just make our own bad ass skincare products.
If it's any comfort I live in Europe, in Norway to be precise, and they don't ship over here either...
@@doreenadriaanse1675 Absolutely!
I was under the impression from the launch video that through Sephora it was being made available to most countries. Apparently not?
I'm from Bulgaria (which is in Eastern Europe). We have Sephora, but Selfless will not be available here... So sad
Love how the promo for this line used stock images of Africans so show its “benevolence” and the products arent available in Africa
Tbh really disappointed in him.
i didn’t know it wasn’t available in africa but those images really bugged me. like.. what…? Hyram should know better 😫
I hate when brands do that also donate to the locals when they buy products and ship them they are contributing to destabilizing the economy
Small example
I believe it was bic that donated shoes from abroad to village children to help
But the issue was the people who made shoes stopped later how will these kids get shoes they don't address the effects of their 'donations'on the people who live there
Its the savior complex for me 🤢
I didn't know that the product wouldn't be available in Africa... That's disappointing since, as you've said, he used images of Africa... And the whole advertising aspect was really off to me. He made it seem that this brand of his is going to change the world? Like how?
I have been following Hyram since he had 50k followers on youtube and let me say, I think he became the person he criticized the most. I will pass on this sadly.
Just funny that Hyram has roasted many brands for advertising products with ‘less than 1%’ concentration and is now in the exact same boat. Convenient time to become educated
Typical of him
The ingredients don't lie!
He literally never uses science to back up any of his claims. Being deemed as a “skincare expert“ does an actually make you an expert.
Unless you’re properly educated and certified i.e. an aesthetician or a derm, or if you do proper research and take classes on the subject vs Doing on the job learning from a company, Which can be one-sided
PREACH🙌🏼Thank God people are slowly figuring him out!!
"we found this sugar cane bioplastic in Brazil" *doesn't sell in brazil*
🤦♀️🤦♀️ and 9 times out-of 10 when they say its helping the rain forest it is not.
And using the name maracujá instead of passion fruit, just for marketing
AND, even if he would sell in Brazil, it would be waaaay to expensive for us to buy 🤧
and the maracuyá of the moisturiser is sourced from Peru (not sold in Peru either 😁)
"worldwide" except all the places our marketing team exploited to make this seem more exotic huh
I love how Hyram's room is so monocheomatic and GREY while James' is ✨✨✨
He did this from a hotel room, so not the usual backdrop.
it’s STUNNING
I thought it was like a Zoom background 😂
Wherever it is…I really like those lights
I love this comment! I love how people express their different personalities through their interior design and fashion. It is awesome!
I’ve just seen that the PR packages each include a mini projector? Just to play a video of Hyram? I don’t understand how this fits in with the brand ethos of minimal waste? Imagine how many PR packages have been sent out 😅🤯
Omg are you serious? How “selfless”… I bet the video is a hundred clips of him saving all the poor black kids of Africa with his skin care products.
@@cradio52 I think it’s a video about the products mostly, it looks nice but so unnecessary in my opinion. James’ brother Robert posted the PR on his Instagram story if you want to see it
@@BrookeTayla the fact that he included a projector at all is ridiculous considering the brand message. He could have just slapped a QR code on the box for people to scan to watch the video with their phone.
@@cradio52 It took you maybe what 5 seconds to come up with your QR code idea? Hyram and his team had to go over the PR package 505 times and it still managed to get created and released 😂😂
AHAHAHAHHA oh my god. This guy gets more and more unbelievable every day.
James you’re the bestie that everyone needs.
Truly!
It’s lovely to see how excited he is for his friend ☺️
Seriously, you can tell how genuinely excited he is for Hyram is so awesome to see. And how nervous Hyram was for James to approve because he values his opinion so much 💕
@@siobhanmorrison3561 It’s so awesome. 💜
‼️‼️
Not him exploiting Africa for marketing purposes and then not making the product available in Africa lmao bruh
Natural materials from latin america, yet no available on latin america, not even mexico lol
right? also the products are so expensive! this is not it at all
Yikes. Would it truly be that difficult to be available in multiple continents? Skin care isn't just for North America and Europe!
@@AlishaHerbiederbie that but also it’d be different if it was just a regular ad w/o the whole missionary vibes to it like there’s something so weird about using clips of African people and then not even allowing them to use that product lol
@@amila_ I absolutely agree. His previous video about regretting his humanitarianism and missionary work, only to utilize the same imagery for his brand is cringe-inducing.
To name a brand selfless is literally the most self absorbed thing you can do.
Tasteless
Should’ve called it “Selfish by Hyram” lol
It’s “Selfless... by Hyram” lol if its selfless why did you still include your name at the end
Agreeed. Unless it’s a full blown charity - like donate all of profits that kind lmao.
The price/ml is a bit expensive which was justified by its “sugarcane plastic” which costs like 10x more than normal plastic.
(I think there’s some brands out there who for example, sell a bottle of toner 200ml for $10, but sell a refill of 350ml for the same price but use biodegradable packaging instead)
Also, the need to markup the margin because he needs to donate 1% of profits. (By he, i mean the consumers, but he gets to call the brand and himself selfless lmao)
And the design of the logo? Having the H ingrained makes it ore an ego thing than selfless
At 17.33 James says that these products last only one month... Here goes the sustainability 🌱😬
I have the products on hand… and I agreed. The serums are very watery… Hyram said u only need 4-5 drops. I been using at least 10 drops each serums for my face and neck. The cleanser… u need double the amount that’s recommended… the moisturizer is not too bad… so you’ll end up buying more of Hyram products oppose to other brands. It will be costly.
If you want larger sizes and sustainability, you’ll have to pay for them. Are you willing to pay $40-50 USD for a serum or nah? You can’t it both ways.
Wow...I have been using a serum since the beginning of March every night and can probably make it last another month.
@@enc1971 paying for larger size product is most sustainable than buying an entirely new product every time
@@enc1971 I rather have that lol. His line is already expensive anyway. Why not making a large version of it?
James responding by saying fuck off because he’s happy and excited for his friend is the most British thing ever 🤣
Rewound that part like 15 times! Amazing! 😂❤
That’s how we show love 🤣
So is indian thing 🤣
Also an Australian thing lol
Seeing Hyram's brand being launched "globally" but not in Brazil makes me *so* upset!! Maracuja is how we say passion fruit in Portuguese and the sugar cane bioplastic was developed in a lab in Rio de Janeiro ☹
Btw, it's/ma.rah.kuh.SHAh/
The “helping” the rainforest and the araras on the packaging too. He clearly did that to be exotic and “pra gringo vê”
you're right. I'm Peruvian and according to the website the maracuyá (in Spanish) is sourced from Peru and is not sold here either
The fact that they are using maracujá instead of passion fruit is so gimmicky honestly. Very much in line with this green washed propaganda designed to target gen z
But don't you feel like so helped as an "underdeveloped" Brazilian that he used maracujá and cana de açúcar in his expensive products? 🙄😂🙈
(Bjs de Portugal)
love how James’s channel is a safe spot for those of us who have comments or criticisms to voice them… try to say anything negative or give any reason you won’t be supporting the brand (greenwashing, too expensive, etc.) on Hyram’s channel and you get completely attacked 🙄🙄
Why do you think is greenwashing? I am interested to hear your opinion
@@eleftheriaknd9203 products in small packaging, sending projectors as PR... how is that sustainable?
@@sabina6280 I see your point but I think that hyram took a big step in trying to support communities... It's hard to have cheap products when you are collaborating with organizations that help you create sustainable packaging etc... I think he did a very good job trying to create a more ethical brand...sustainability is not cheap unfortunately
His Stans are slowly coming to this video attacking anyone with an opinion. I’m so over these children acting like they are experts on the brand now 😂
@@dianalovestoplan who's attacking??
With the exception of fragrance, Hyram's products are everything he use to hate; gimmicky, high price point, low or hidden actives information. Just makes me sad.
I think they even have essential oils! So its the fragrance bit as well … I'm so mad about his lies, and so the spell is broke.
Broken" (but lol, the price point - he makes the students broke, as he tricks them into buying these products that goes against all he told them).
Also he said he hated missionary work because it felt like “white saviourism” and then went and centered his whole brand around pitying the people in Africa what a hypocrite
Amen.
technically his products have fragrancing ingredients in them, too. there's a loophole in labelling regulations where you can list a product as "fragrance free" if you claim your fragrancing ingredients do something else within the formula. it's pretty common for brands to claim some random floral essential oil is a "skin conditioning extract" or something and label their product as fragrance free despite the fact that it might well have the usual irritant compounds in that extract.
Hyram and his products became everything he warned us for lol

I love love hyram but I don’t get the ‘selfless by hyram’ at all. He raved about affordable products for years, build his empire on it and we all expected something decent out of him but this is not it. Not every human on earth lives in The USA. The shipping charges are literally more than half of what the product costs, so I’m not ready to pay full price, plus half the price more for such basic products with such low concentration. I think I’ll stick to my regular products that have been working for me.
This is the kind of critisizm we need! Not about the merits of the creator or how people want to believe or not believe their qualifications, but about the actual product line! I would love to support the line, but it just dropped in Canada and the least expensive product is $26 plus shipping, which is the cleanser, when my $9 ELF cleanser works just fine for me, and so do The Ordinary serums and Inkey List regular line products that cost a miniscule fraction of the price. I know these are more well-rounded formulas, but paying $15 for 3 actives i can combine in my palm to get a similar result means i’m not gonna pay $34 for a glorified niacinamide serum..
isn't it gonna be on sephora?
I understand where you are coming from... but you do know that his products are at this price range to push for social change, use sustainable packaging, and sustainably source them. And compared to many other brands, it's not disgustingly expensive. I think Hyram did an amazing job and did his best to make it as affordable as possible.
@@kattzuma7290 Yes but the fact that only 10% of the profit is going to help people and tress is 😔,I'm huge fan of Hyram and he was the one who made fall into Skincare but the price range is stopping me from buying (In India, even ordinary is a bit expensive
@@enakshi8729yeah I just started reading more into it. I hoping that it is because his brand is just starting out, and maybe overtime if his brand grows more, he can start increasing that 10%! 🙌
Maracuja is literally just passion fruit in portuguese
Same in Russian 😁
I didn't know that! I guess it just sounds fancier to English speakers than "passionfruit".
Same in spanish
I'm sure some people will love this line, but it's not for me, nor is it really meant for me. The products aren't really anything too special, and the active ingredients are at lower concentrations than I'd prefer or need. Plus, at that price point, I'll stick with my trusted favorites that I already know are effective for my skin. I wish Hyram well -- we all know it will sell out in minutes -- but I'll be watching this one from the sidelines.
👆👆
Agreed. It's overpriced.
The guy, the ingredients, the packaging, the prices; an all around NOPE 🙅🏻
@@hibaliaquat6509 i know right. not any product of the line is under $20
Well said! Definitely agree,
I love you James but I can't say I'm on board with this brand or with Hyram 🤷 no issue with the products themselves, just the marketing tactics and the launch video. Heavy white saviour and green washing vibes.
I was genuinely excited when the brand announcement first came out but then he started posting the videos and I’m like uh… no…
Super agree! Feels shallow, tone deaf. Launch video reminded me a bit of some corporate fundraiser commercial using 3rd world countries to check off some weird diversity checklist, using a black African woman pumping water, I mean really. Like on of those pro earth ads while Nestle steals and drains water reservoirs around the world. Just those vibes... And so many more bottles! This ain't it chief!
@@gwendolinehall1386 exactly. and for a brand called "selfless", it's awfully centred about hyram himself. and didn't he make a video a few years ago stating that he regrets being a humanitarian white saviour? idk, just left a bad taste for me. the marketing feels super manipulative.
@@maxb2242 excellent point! He knows a lot about how the Mormons did a lot of "humanitarian work" but it was white saviorism. Missionary stuff. He should know better, and if he actually brought that up before it's even weirder/worse that he's doing this now. The name was a real OOF moment for me lol.
Not to mention how they've said "their ambition" is to donate 10% of their profits. Not that they will. That's textbook corporate speech for "we want to put an extortionate markup on our products, but we don't actually want to give up any of our yacht money and don't want people to be able to sue us".
I find the best way to help people in developing countries is to donate directly. Buying something I cannot afford to try and help makes no sense. To me. I get the stuff that works for me at a good price, & don't go crazy trying new things I don't need.
Since I drink a lot of coffee I try to use coffee that's produced in a fair way (for the producer) which does make it more expensive as I actually pay for livable wages for the workers, but I do agree that buying new expensive products to try and help people when you can buy cheaper locally produced products *and* donate money instead is kind of gimmicky.
Coffee cannot be locally produced for me, it grows like shit in Sweden (hell I've killed multiple arabica plants before and I'm good with plants), so I try to be conscious of what I buy. But skincare, eh, I might as well just use Lumene only.
@foxycinnamon Agree
Exactly.
I will get a toner for $10 and donate the extra $10 instead... js...
There are many issues with this brand. I encourage everyone to do their own research and make their own decisions. I wouldn’t presume to tell anyone what to do with their own money. And I’m not saying this brand is terrible & evil. But the marketing is extremely disingenuous to the point of seeming intentionally misleading. Do as you wish. But for me, this is a hard pass
same here
Agreed
Like phenoxyethanol, that is everywhere here... That would be avoidable
Agree
What are the issues? I’m genuinely curious
Hyram, please be totally transparent about how you are measuring the ‘direct impact’ on the environment. I even emailed your company for details and didn’t get actual details. For example, how much of each sale goes to the charity? How will the charity measure their impact (money received, trees planted, etc)?
He can’t speak to how’s the organizations will use the money or to the organization will measure the impact due to the donations. That’s not a reasonable ask. Though having worked in non profits going on a decade these contributions don’t have much effect within the organizations. It’s usually put into events and marketing boosts since it’s not a reliable source of income. This goes for every product that donates a percentage to organizations. Unless the company has created a grant for the organization which I have not seen personally before.
It is their "ambition" to donate 10%.Please update us if you've found out a specific amount!
@@xakirax_8864 he’s only “donating” 1% I honestly don’t believe this crap. He’s become a hypocrite who uses poor kids in Africa and white saviourism as a marketing tactica
Lmao he should have just cut the charitable aspect out
@@Quiteinfamous the reason I ask how is because he claims it’s going to be measurable. So he has to know what to measure :)
Cmon James, if Hyram really cared about the environment, he wouldn’t be sending projectors in the PR package, wouldn’t be greenwashing his products by saying they will “create social change” when he cannot even say how much money is actually going to “charity”. If he also cared about something else than his “selfless” image, he wouldn’t be acting all white saviour using random images of kids in Africa in his promo videos; and most importantly, he wouldn’t be creating an unnecessarily expensive line with small products on the basis of “eco-friendly” packaging. There’s no need to be a hypocrite when you come up with yet another skin care line.
and he “promises” he’s donating 1% to charity
@@hannahbanana9901 ah yes 1% is so "Selfless "
@@khalilurtrahman sorry my comment sounded so much like a support hyram aha. What I meant was how do we even know if he’s donating that 1% absolutely sickening. Also, he’s using white saviourism and the poor kids in Africa as a marketing tactic. Not cool
@@hannahbanana9901 does he even say which charities?
This skincare brand should’ve been named “Selfish by Hyram”. With the charities that he’s “ambitiously” donating… he is getting tax benefits from it as well…
Oh Hyram, founding a brand that does almost everything he’s called out other brands for. “He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster. And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you.”
James and Hyram giggling excitedly over all these products at the beginning is too cute and wholesome
My real problem with the brand or line is that it really falls into the same category of 'celebrity/influencer skincare' which Hyram himself has criticized in the past. The less than 1% spiel for the actives' concentration is a major quibble, but that is pretty much something with really cheap brands like Inkey List which is often hit-and-miss. I would have more of an issue with the brand association and what it stands for in the light of Hyram's videos. That said, because I have dry skin, it is unlikely that I will buy the brand because it doesn't cater to my demographic.
True.
the “celebrity/influencer skincare” that is often criticized pertains to celebrities who produce a line just to earn money easily even if they have no affiliation / do not care about skincare.
hyram’s whole channel is dedicated to skincare. his channel is the most subscribed skincare channel and he’s influenced a lot of people to get into skincare. he obviously dedicated a whole lot of time and love into this line and people have literally been requesting him to make one. i honestly think hyram’s getting a lot of unwarranted hate for this. he’s obviously so passionate about what he’s doing which goes beyond just making money.
its driving me crazy that all the promoted and highlighted ingredients are in less than 1% quantities when hyram himself has called brands out for that
@@bakedcherry His science is in itself dubious. I am not exactly sure where he draws the line per se. But because he does not review the brands I use, I sometimes watch his videos and others to get an idea of the influencer world's workings.
@@kevinjanghj i used to really like him, he actually got me into skincare. but unfortunately he has said many things in the past that made me like him and is now doing the exact opposite. im guessing only people there from the very beginning are noticing 🤷🏻♀️
I've been very disappointed by this launch and Hyram and won't be purchasing personally, but this is a good review. James has always been authentic and honest with his content and this just comes off like a normal sponsored post - you're not going to totally rip into the brand if you're being paid by them or if you don't want to hurt your friend's feelings but you can still point out the flaws like the price points. For those who were considering purchasing from the brand, this is informative.
Thanks so much! 💜

I'm curious, why are you disappointed?
@@aliesefitch1099 well it's quite expensive and the actives are quite weak, is what I am hearing from most people. I don't know if it'll be successfull cause sephora is essentially gatekeeping it from getting sold to a large portion of the fanbase, as they don't even ship worldwide but to a minority of countries. My god. The hyram stans in the comments are a cringe-fest.
Having constructive criticism of products is not a personal attack!
You surely watch James for his constructive criticism? so I don't understand loosing your tiny little minds in the comments here.
Not everyone can like everything. Not everyone wants the same things. Not everyone can even afford the same things!
Exactly, I found out that they don't like to be called stans and I had to tell one to stop acting like one and attacking ppl who don't agree with everything he says.
It’s not the constructive criticism that feels unfair. People are free to like or dislike or share what they think, of course! Honest dialogue can be useful. But many of the comments are personal attacks. Calling someone a freak or a sociopath is not constructive. Some will make an attempt to show “proof” that Hyram is dishonest by pointing out things that are explained in the video, making it clear that they didn’t watch the video. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t care that they didn’t watch the video… but to go through the trouble to comment on a video you haven’t fully watched…

@@frysauce8153 I haven't seen any name calling like that. I've seen lots of fair criticism and stans losing their minds. This performative faux activism stinks. I've enjoyed Hyram's content, but if he really wanted to be sustainable he wouldn't have created a line of products that contributes to the waste, no matter the materials and the intent. It would have made more sense if he joined The Inkey List team and helped them get to the values of Selfless, etc.
Yes, that would have made so much more sense
If he cared about waste, then he should’ve thought about the quantity of useless skincare brand which already exist, and don’t create another useless one
This exactly! Comes off as very hypocritical imo... Don't see anything groundbreaking in the ingredients so far lol. But of course depends on the usage but I'm sure you can find a 100 alternatives for each thing already on the market.
SeLfLess
In my humble opinion, Hyram's line of products will help with sustainability in the long term if his market share gets larger, which will force the other unsustainable companies out of the market. And he has a large RUclips audience who will be keener on Hyram's own brand instead of his collaboration with another brand. Also, The Inkey List may not be into sustainability as much as Hyram. So it makes sense for me that he created this brand :)
James, the fact that you are so supportive of other fellow influencers makes you stand out. You are awesome!
The price is a bit too much for me ( college student haha) . So I’ll stay with the cerrave cult lol
Don’t feel bad, there are several adults that can’t afford it either. It’s extremely overpriced, especially for someone who bashed other companies for charging too much for their products.
@@dianalovestoplan I think you think it’s overpriced because it’s more expensive than the cheap plastics that we usually buy. We made a more sustainable brand than most others which is why the price is higher. Totally reasonable that someone couldn’t afford cause often sustainable is expensive but it isn’t overpriced
Hehe, I spent $100, no regrets~
@@dianalovestoplan well idk about extremely overpriced 😂 it’s not like the products are 70$+ but I do agree it’s not budget friendly for people with lower income
@@dianalovestoplan I think you’re missing the point of Hyram’s initiative, it’s priced at that much due to sustainable packaging, donating to several other projects, using effective ingredients for consumers, and the company itself has to make money. I personally think it’s a fair price range for what it accomplishes even though I probably won’t be purchasing the products myself until later down the road.
They've use 5% of cosme phytami centella(which has abt 94%glycerin, 5% water and 1% asiaticoside) and 3% cosme phytami green tea(Glycerin above 95% and caffein). I'd rather have him put them in leaveon products. Effectively you have 0.05% asiaticoside and abt 0.04% caffein in then end product. Thats y its below Phenoxyethanol. Also this product doesnt have deposition system that will deliver the extracts to your skin. They'll just wash off. So know that even if it works for you it isnt the extracts that worked for you because in any cleanser without potent actives like GA, SA, BPO etc its not the extracts that are working but the base surfactant formula which is showing results. For any cleanser, 90% of the effects are due to in actives.
Also 26 bucks for 50ml moisturizer,? Hell no. Let's not even go into prices.
Also his donating is very technical. On website it say he only donates when you buy a SERUM.
I'll probably prefer hylamide cleanser for 20 bucks which has pretty superior tech than his basic cleanser or even LRP which gives 400ml for 14 bucks.
Also about his retinol, its 30 bucks for 1ounce which is super super expensive. Retinol is eq to 0.2% and rainbow algae which pretty much is a gimmick. He could've just put normal algae. I have much superior products at much cheaper price points.
Also the donations which he's so hyping about will give him tax benefits. He's talking money from consumers and donating from company accounts to get tax deductions. I'd rather donate money myself bcz it gives me more control over where i want to donate and choose the cause myself. I'd rather buy good cheap products and donate some money myself which will still be more than what he donates and also don't give him tax benefits from my money. He says I created a brand which sparks social change when in reality its the consumers money that's going to charity and also giving him tax benefits. Basically he using customers money to reduce his company's carbon footprint while selling them the idea HE has done this.
Also about bioplastics. They're still plastics and are pretty similar to normal plastics. Most of recycling places dont have proper infrastructure to recycle this. Plastics are actually recycled more than glass. So I'd rather have him use normal plastic and reduce the pricing and have a recycle/reuse program separately in brand where he can recall all the used packaging and reuse or recycle them. It'll still be a lot cheaper than his marketing. Bioplastics are just giving him marketing material.
You know whats more sustainable? Not creating a brand if you cant compete with cheapest in the market. Because at this point market has become so saturated with actives that people don't need more. I knw this for a fact that he's never even going close to big players which have cheap products and also have charity programs. Most companies today have some or the other kind of chartiy programs integrated into their brands and still they're much much cheaper than his expensive brand with basic formulations.
Combining all this is a massive greenwashing and justifying his price point. I remember he used to recommended Simple micellar gel wash which is like 5-6 bucks and suddenly stopped when he signed with YTTP as "specialist" which tbh isn't even a thing. He didn't even disclose his partnership with YTTP.
He's contradicting pretty much all the principles he has worked upon since start just because its his own brand. So I'll take his own advice that don't fall for the marketing and I'll buy product which are more cheap and work for me and I'll donate the money myself and get the tax benefits for myself.
👏👏👏
Finally someone said it.
👏👏👏👏👏👏
Agreed!!!
If I'm paying 30€ euros for "retinol", it better be in its potent form. There's this very strong "retinol" in my country (it's tretinoin) that costs as much as hyram's. Like.... yet he's putting his own products on a pedestal
James’ reaction when Hyram’s like “the fragrance is amazing” 😝
Isn't Hyram supposed to be hardcore fragrance free, or is that just until it suits him?$
@emily nah, I've got a lot of genuine critiques for this brand. White saviorism, which Hyram with his ex Mormon background should absolutely know better. And calling it Selfless? Big oof. Cringey to me. The name with that launch video? 😬
Really just a money grab luxury line for the Inkey list to charge even more per oz. They were already more expensive per oz compared to a lot of other higher end brands. But especially expensive considering his main demographic is teenagers. $30 for 1oz of retinol with brown algae(rainbow algae is just brown algae) and Tranexamic acid (which is what will probably be what is doing most of the work in that product) Ingredient lists solidly meh. Best thing for the environment is to just not make more bottles.

Hyram must not be familiar with Melano CC Serum if he’s not familiar with packaging that dispenses a single drop of product. That vitamin C serum has the very best packaging as far as being light and air proof and actually delivers a single drop of product if that’s all you want.
That packaging is ingenious!! Wished more brands actually did that - really keeps the active fresh

The percentages are now listed on Hyram's website, I think it's a bit misleading to say a product contains 3% Centella Asiatica when it's a complex I don't believe he says complex when he mentions it in it his launch video and underneath it says 0.15% Centella Asiatica extract which is why it's listed below the preservative phenoxyethanol. Same goes with the Green Tea, he says it's 5% Green Tea but it's really 5% Green Tea complex and .25% Green Tea. Seems like a marketing ploy.
I will give him props though to putting the other percentages on the website
Maracuja (ma-ra-coo-jah - with the emphasis on the 'ja') is passion fruit in Portuguese, they just call it that to be exotic, but it's passion fruit.
Wow... so pretentious
I love the support and excitement between you both. It's so great to see it! I really appreciate that he takes into consideration being with inkey list to make a bigger impact on what he cares about. Love that.
Love the thought behind the packaging, but just want to point out that it's in no way new or innovative like he claims -- brands have been using sugarcane bioplastic for awhile. Coola sunscreen switched over to it last year, and Hinza makes great bags out of it. Also a little odd -- the color of Hyram's bottles are almost exactly the color of Coola's??
Honestly I don’t know that Hyram has done anything groundbreaking or earth shattering with any of these products. Like you said, other companies have been doing a lot of the same things. I think maybe what the Inkey List is trying to do (I hope?) is use the crapton of followers he’s got to start conversation around things like sustainability, etc. and make more people more aware? Idk. Maybe? 🤷♀️
@@hellostina if that's their goal, it's amazing! I just wish they weren't framing the conversation as if they're starting the sustainability initiative. They're just more vocal about it lol
Felt like I had to reply only because we have the same name (different spelling aside) - I agree though the packaging isn’t anything super innovative but also the way he talks about it tells me he doesn’t have a good understanding of the process itself 🤷♀️
Hmm, I didn't hear hyram say that he invented this type of packaging, just that sustainability was important to his brand and philosophy. I think he wants to keep the conversation going by targeting a bigger demographic, as skincare is important to folks in all social economic ranges. At least he's trying to doing his part...
@@emberyoung218 that's a good point! I'm definitely not suggesting he claimed that. I just wanted to highlight some great companies who are also trying to make a difference. Such a huge brand launch like this one kind of takes all the air out of the room.
Congratulations to Hyram and his skincare brand. But, I don't think I'm gonna buy this skincare line. Because in Indonesia the inkeylist itself is hard to find and when I found it the price was more expensive than The Ordinary. And when I looked at the Selfless price list, it was even more expensive.
I can't imagine how expensive the product is when the dollar price changes to Indonesian Rupiah. So ... Yeah ... Gonna stay with Cosrx and The Ordinary
that sucks. hopefully he makes the brand more widely available. but i also wonder if he can’t bc he’s trying to make it eco friendly and shipping that far might defeat that purpose, i’m not sure tho
He did not make this with affordability in mind. It is a higher end product line for the Inkey list which is already expensive when you look at price per oz. You'd think that would have been a more important priority for him. Sorry you have a hard time finding different brands there, I hope more come your way! :)
Local skincare brands in Indonesia are now really really good! Like Somethinc or Biobeauty Lab. I haven't tried it yet, since it's difficult to get my hands on it (I live in SG currently). I'm still on Cosrx and some other local brands, but if Selfless is as amazing as I think it is, I'm goin to go get it as soon as my existing products empties
I hate that I hate this launch :(. I dont know anything about formulations, so I can't comment on that. HOWEVER, the recyclability claims turned me off from using these products, I work in the resource recovery industry and claiming that 'bio based' plastics are recyclable is quite misleading and goes against all the efforts that waste educators do, when consumers find out this type of packaging is not getting recycled, we are the ones who need to clean up the mess and re-educate them on the reasons why and how it doesn't apply to all packaging. I really hope I'm wrong and that the company consulted with the waste industry and performed tests for collection, sorting and re-processing in the places where these products are being sold that backs up those claims.
I'm very uninformed about these issues so forgive my possibly very dumb question: the "reciclability" of a certain plastic depends from country to country right? like I've read that in the US a lot of packages don't get recycled that I'm my country (portugal) supposedly do
@@rita.itsa.m it’s actually more complicated. It actually depends on city to city. Basically our local taxes pay for our recycling facilities. Because of this many cities have better systems than small towns. For example, my home town, in the same state, is 1 hr away from the city I live now. My city has a system that allows for cardboard, glass, aluminum, paper, and plastic. On top of that, we have a “no sort” system, which means we don’t have to sort our plastic from glass, cardboard etc. we can put it in the same bin. But if you drive to my home town, they only allow for plastic, glass and non gloss cardboard (so no cereal boxes). It’s very frustrating and complicated.
In New York, there was a proposal to make the companies responsible for recycling because they would be far more financially capable to build better, more capable facilities than cities who have to rely on varying lvls of finances to fund such facilities. NY is having a hard time keeping up with all the waste and recycling they get, which is why this was proposed.
Hope this makes sense, but it is really frustrating that this is such a problem in our country.
@@ravenm6443 I see. I find it surprising how a lot of places in the US have such limitations :( that definitely seems frustrating
James, you're too kind.
Yes
too kind for his own good. bec this 'selfless' line did not pass the vibe check
I honestly had a lot of respect for him because he wasn't making a skincare line. I saw how many people would constantly comment how if he made a skincare line they would buy everything and any entrepreneur will look at that and see an opportunity to make money for themselves. So I respected that he wasn't giving in to it knowing that there is no need for a skincare brand and all the new ones that keep popping up are just contributing to all the excess waste. But fine, he saw an opportunity and he took it. The fact though, that he is trying to claim this will have social impact and that we are saving the earth by purchasing the products is what is rubbing me the wrong way because if you genuinely cared about the earth you wouldn't create a skincare brand in the first place. He is also contradicting himself a lot with the formulations and the prices of the products. Don't get me wrong... I am a big Hyram fan...I cant even begin to describe to you how much he has helped with my skin...but this whole line has left me disappointed and I'm considering unsubscribing from him, not only because of his line but i feel like I haven't really heard any new information from him lately...he just repeats the same points over and over again. What do y'all think?
AGREED
I think it’s because the containers are actually recyclable. So if hypothetically everyone purchased this product bc of the packaging, one could theorize that it would have a better impact greenhouse gas-wise.
This is of course all theoretical.
I personally think that his brand does a lot more for the environment than other brands. The most sustainable thing for the planet is to stop making skin care and stop creating more waste, but people are going to keep buying new products, so I rather buy from a brand that has less impact than others.
I feel it's like the idea of "the most harmful thing for the environment is to have kids", so people just shouldn't have kids at all, even if it's been something you always wanted in your life. If you're gonna have a kid, it's better that you do it in the least contaminating thing posible.
I feel like people are judging this brand for not actually "saving the world", but being more expensive because it's "clearly for the money" and not because of trying to "create a brand with sustainably sourced ingredients".
Also, I think I remember a video where he said he would be leaving Hawai for other job projects which means that he couldn't post videos as regularly.
In my opinion, if the price point is not too high for you, and you think you might enjoy the products, get them and try them.
@@lauitucomp like as a hyram fan this is exactly the defense I made for other people that were shitting on him on his promotional videos but they made a good point and that is- there isnt anything unique about these products and neither are most of them potent enough to attract a large audience. His products would be good for teenagers who are starting out but they don't extend to people beyond that age group....and then he has done the thing of making his products way too expensive for most teenagers... so even the people from within that group who are willing to buy his products will be really small. I also didn't like how he is using imagery of poverty in Africa as a way to promote his brand...you are using people who are trying to survive as an aesthetic way of promoting your brand that is going to get you even more money than you had before. Thats messed up.

I like the products themselves, the sea coloured packaging and the idea of a sunscreen but apart from the pricing ,I am concerned that on their website it says that it is their 'ambition' to donate 10%.This is not a certainty, which is what I expect from a brand who's entire brand image is based on sustainability and helping 3rd world countries. For all we know,They could be donating 1% and unless they are more certain with the amount they are donating then I'm gonna assume they are donating the bare minimum. Not to mention the packaging materials. From looking at several comments and asking around, Most of us don't have the suitable recycling facilities for these materials.
So how are we supposed to dispose of them?.If you really trying to make a social change,You wouldn't have created a skincare line. Also the name "selfless" and the tasteless videos of the poor black people in his marketing campaign left a bad taste in my mouth. No Hyram buying your products isn't going to help save all the trees and poor people.

Yeah same idk what to think of it! I have been following for so long like since he had 90k followers I think and I loved him so much because of how passionate he was to help people and when we made his second YT channel talking about how to help in the world and all that I thought : yeah he’s really a genuine person and he really wants to helps !! My mind never changed until he released his brand and I read the comments under all his videos I want to give him the benefit of the doubt but it’s so weird they are « aiming » to give 10% for 1 year as well so after 1 year what happens? You cannot make change in 1 year either like why not say they’ll work the first 5 years with this organization and after a good amount of time with them to change the organization they are working with…its way more impactful that way but maybe they didn’t think about this? Also I love how he doesn’t want to create more waste and the efforts he put in the packaging but since the products are so small it will create more waste he should of made them bigger so like that we buy less and yes the prices would of been higher but ethical brands always have higher prices that’s how it works 🤷🏽♀️ you can’t sell a product like 5$-15$ and also pay your workers a decent amount of money so personally I don’t mind prices in the range of 25-50$ it’s still good pricing
I agreed about the recycling. Most of us are not going to go out of our way to find a recycling facility that accepts these packaging materials… it will end up in landfills or regular recycling bins (fortunate!)
yeah especially considering they're mission trips and we know the history behind mission trips
it screams "white savoir complex"
About the ambition being %10 might have to do with the fact that they have to sell enough to pay off the initial investment, employee pay, testing, etc. Since he's a well known person, (I hate the word influencer) he probably will sell whatever goal they have right away. He seems to actually care, but no matter what anyone does, no one person can fix everything wrong with this world. He seems like the type of person that if that 10% is achievable, it will be donated and if not, it's someone lying to him. I'm not someone who watches him that much at all, but I've seen enough in the last year of him to think he himself is genuine. Unfortunately, business isn't always a place for genuine people. I personally love small business and worked for one for 9 years (well it was pretty much me and my boss and couple of other people hired later) that truly wanted the best for people and money struggles were real, but he's still going because he believes he's helping people. (He's certainly not rich by any means and still struggles.) Ingredients are questionable. If the actives are listed under Phenoexyethanol then it has to be under 1% to be safe. I have super sensitive skin (especially my neck) and maybe that's what he needed to be able to use the products himself. We won't know until he addresses these concerns himself, if ever. Just another view point. I'm not buying the products as I know maracuja causes eczema on my face and I am happy with certain ELF skincare and prices. I have also found less expensive serums that don't irritate my skin. As for packaging, well, recycling will always be an issue until (at least the US) probably makes laws and puts more money into it. Tax dollars don't always go to sustainability though. Especially when people can't even pay rent right now. Where I live we have so many restrictions on what can be recycled. You can't blame a company for our cities and towns not having proper recycling facilities yet. As I said, I'm not buying anything and probably won't till I hear more about the brand and see where it goes. I'm never one to buy on first release anyway. I like to keep my eyes open on both sides. Your points are valid, but there may be reasons behind them is all.

Well almost every brand you buy from are made by people who don’t have a background in that they are business people with no knowledge at all so idk how to feel at least he works in this field but if every skincare brands could be conceive by skin experts it would be amazing
Meh, I might be willing to try it (after all, I can't say if it's good or bad without trying it for myself) but I would treat it as any other brand. At the very least the skincare is regulated and it was formulated by actual skincare formulators and not Hyram himself. If he made it himself in the kitchen I'd be more concerned. If it does the job advertised then yay but it's not the end of the world if it doesn't, I just won't buy it again.

In terms of what goes on my skin, it's the *product* that's important. Hyram's duplicity in other matters and white saviourism is annoying but my skin comes first. If I don't like it, I won't buy it but I won't let my opinion of him as a person influence my opinion of a product.
I'm sorry if this point of view upsets you in any way. By all means, call out bullshit where you see it but I don't think anybody should judge *any* product without using it first. In my opinion. Yours may vary and that's okay.
@@iwuvsmybeanie why would your comment offend me? Everyones entitled to one. I think there is more at play than just skincare here as hyram has put so much emphasis on creating social change and sustainability and its just utterly ridiculous.
Can anyone here confirm if Hyram was selfless enough to give a goodie bag of products to that black african lady pumping the fuck out of that water pipe in the promo vids? Least she deserved for her cameo was some free overpriced skincare, in tiny unsustainable packaging with weak gimic formulations but it isn't available in her country to buy. I guess at least Hyram aims to donate 10% of proceeds lol many people aim for a lot of things...... Social change my arse and the narcissism is on another level. I don't think Hyram is a bad guy at all, I think his heart is in the right place, but he's been really badly advised and looks such a hypocrite for so many reasons.
I’m happy to see your honest review. If I’m being frank… nothing in the line interests me personally (somebody with dry-normal skin). Both of the exfoliating serums are too similar (and weak), the retinol seems decent but is just too weak for me as somebody who uses 1% retinol or 0.1% adapalene nightly, the moisturizer doesn’t have enough barrier repair or occlusive ingredients for my skin type, and there’s better cleansers for less money with higher concentrations of the actives.
Can we please start normalising the sunscreen face sheen? I'm sick of trying to dull and matt it down. Yes I look like the tin man but at least I'm protected!😂
The sheen is fine but it's the greasy hair that come with it does my head in!!! Shine face fine.... Full head of hair stuck to it not so much...
YES!!! Also I've NEVER had a sunscreen that is actually matte like btch stop lyin
yes!
@@ellaocean the only matte suncream I’ve ever had was a spray dry one, and denatured alcohol was the top ingredient
If I’m not shiny, I’m not wearing enough. “Moisturised” doesn’t cut it. I live in central FL. I better look greasy af when I first put it on
Been waiting for this review. Happy that it’s finally here 😍🤍🤍🥰
I love James laughter and hyram's giggles
So happy to see that you’re so supportive of him! I can absolutely vouch for the cleanser, this is so moisturising and plumping.
It’s lovely to see James so excited for his friend! And I love to see them laughing, it does my heart good! 🖤💜
You are happy for your friend and that’s just natural. I don’t think it’s fair for people to come to this video knowing that and still complain that you could be biased, when they’d hold anything you say in that light anyway. People are jaded after being lied to on RUclips for so long, and maybe we still have trust issues.
Personally I think if Hyram had never uttered a word about donating or saving the environment, nobody would complain here about what he’s doing. I rarely ever see anyone complaining in other product review comment sections when a makeup or skincare brand or whatever is donating part of the proceeds to something- usually it’s something people say they WANT to see, such as pride products donating to lgbt organizations. So people now ranting about how it’s a tax deduction or showing off for him is kiiiiind of sus. Just saying.
People are pointing out ingredient levels and prices which is well within their right to do, and it sounds like people are disappointed or disagree with what he’s done. That’s their right, it’s fine for them to hold his products to a standard his community holds other things I guess.
Truthfully I have no interest in this because I don’t really watch him, and I am not in the habit of buying influencer things. That’s really it. I don’t need to tear into him or go looking for any other justification. I’m just not interested, and that’s fine. He has fans and they can make up their own minds and I’m sure they’re excited, good for them.
A well formulated comment. I agree and I feel the same
I have combination and sensitive skin, i bought the cleanser, moisturizer and exfoliating serum and until now my skin have bren reacting really good. Love this brand!❤
I’m picking up the cleanser for sure! Love seeing you both so positive and getting excited. This is what skincare and let’s just go with life in general, should be about ❤️
Sephora: *seated in France*
also Sephora: let's NOT ship to Belgium lmao
Hyram's web shop does ship to Belgium, luckily! Idk if you found this already, just in case, here's a link: eu.selflessbyhyram.com/?loc=EU&cur=EUR&lang=EN
@@MissMiyakosKitty oh thank you, I thought it was going to be sephora exclusive.
I know, so annoying.
When I want some goodies from Sephora, I go to neighboring countries like Luxembourg and Germany. France feels too far way because I live so much up in North of Belgium that Netherlands is almost in my backyard. 😄
But as mentioned by @Amagail, you can get the product from Hyram’s website. I already some products, I haven’t gotten them yet but I see that they are coming from Poland so delivery should be quick enough.
@@ruth98765 I am assuming hyram's webshop is shipping from the US, which is gonna take forever to get to where I live. If only sephora shipped to their damn neighbouring countries, it would've been so much less of a pain in the ass. I usually order my skincare from the Netherlands which gets delivered in about 2 days after ordering.
@@LittleSparklingStars I live in Belgium as well and thought the same but actually all EU orders are shipped from Poland and delivered in 1-2 business days according to the FAQ. So we get the fast shipping and delivery without the import duties. So I might actually place an order later. 😀
So many skincare launches. Wish the prices would decrease instead of increasing at every new launch.
Yeah exactly!
Inflation. Blame the stimulus cheques.
It's so sweet how James is so sincerely happy for Hyram and so supportive! ❤️
I literally bought the moisturiser at Sephora today and was mad that I didn’t know it was a thing before. I’m so glad it’s new and I’m going to buy the rest of the line to try
I was crying during their video call. I just love both of you so much. 💓 thank you both for everything you’ve done for my skin. ❤️💁♀️✨
I got the cleanser and mandelic acid serum! I’m looking forward to them. So impressed by all of Hyram’s hard work ☺️ I love to support such genuine effort and the ingredients are interesting. Also I’m all for more gentle actives. I have sensitive skin so stronger actives are out of the question.
💜💜💜 only kindness from me!
IS IT GREEN WASHING?!!!
Do you think it is?
Yes.
100% agree
@@littleflick maybe after a year see what impacts are really being made environmentally by the brand
I ❤️you both so much!!! You both seem very genuine and authentic. I especially like both of your energy when your together! I’m a 45 yr old woman who has recently become a skincare enthusiast and am enjoying your content immensely. Due to my age and my own personal skincare needs, I probably won’t buy the Selfless products. But I wish nothing but success and prosperity to both of you!!! ♥️
I am a 45 year old with ultra sensitive and reactive skin so I’m grateful for the gentle products in this line, And I have an almost 16 year old who we are building a routine for- so I am sure some of these will be good for her. I am looking forward to trying these products! I find Hyram earnest and seems to be striving to do good. Is he perfect? No… but no one is! I don’t have many opportunities to purchase products from someone who I feel I kindof “know”. (I only “know” him because of his channel.) When I find someone who has found their PASSION in life and can turn it into their career- I’m inspired and genuinely happy for them! I have a son his age and I feel like a mama who wants to shield Hyram from the folks who are so harshly negative. Criticism is ok- some of it warranted. But why spread so much unkindness! This is no sociopath or some devil in disguise!
Hyram has spoken about being disowned by his family, has struggled with depression and an eating disorder. And now he is finding a way to make an impact in an area he is passionate about. I send nothing but good thoughts to him and for his success. He will make mistakes but I hope he keeps getting up and carrying on.
As much as I am a fan of Hyram, my love of YOU James tops even that. You are a delight. I’m grateful to you for your sincerity, kindness, and level headed messaging. I would support you if you create a skin care line (or anything else!) as well- and cheer for any new ventures you take on to be successful. Thanks for keeping it positive and supporting Hyram with honest feedback and friendship. It sends exactly the right message. I was grinning ear to ear watching you two! ❤️
I think ppl issue with Hyram is that he has a video out talking about "hating" white saviourism through his missionary work but his video is basically that. I wish him nothing but success even though I will not be supporting this brand.
Perhaps it's the marketing team at fault. With high-profile participants such as the exclusive Sephora launch, and Inky List resources, I can imagine it was expected that Hyram play by the industry standard PR rules.
"Scaring people off of some random ingredients then offering them products that don't contain these ingredients" seems to be a very successful business/marketing strategy these days...
Yeah recently I have stopped supporting Hyram. He has become successful like every other rich person- by fear. He caused fear of SLS, alcohol, fragrance, etc... and roasting people. Terrible tactic to get followers. I wish he wouldn’t make himself the hero for the “poor black kids.” We could donate if we weren’t spending $30 on a serum 💁🏽♀️
And he had the nerve to name the brand “selfless”
@@reganlabounty3931 tasteless
I mean that’s probably why he said he will no longer be making review videos. It would be pretty unethical to continue doing that.
@@reganlabounty3931 yes literally selfless by ME... Hyram is a celebrity, not a skincare specialist
I think I'm going to pass on this product line for right now. My skin is being very weird right now so I'm going to stick with ingredients that I know are good for my skin.
Yeah if you know what works for you and your skin, 100% stick with it
@@JamesWelshit's a work in progress. 🖤
Yaaayyy!!! I am so excited!! Y’all are so darn cute. 😍
Love watching 2 besties supporting each other!! 🥺🥺🥺💙💜
At least Hyram doesn't have to pretend he's not getting anything from this brand, unlike a bunch of the undisclosed brands that sponsor him.
Right… with the “donation” that he’s “ambitiously” planning to donate… he’ll be gaining a lot from the tax benefits of it.
@@Cherries01 Was it 1%? I remember seeing a post on Instagram that 1% of the profit was going to be donated and I’m like “…….” I know indie, POC-owned brands that donate more than that…
Exactly ! 👏🏻
Right?! I thought “we, the kiddo is growing up now. Congrats on disclosing his first brand deal”
Big step for one who built his empire on lies about how to cure your skin and frightening about ingredients without even being someone who has a title or is a dermatologist, with products that were from brands paying him behind close doors.
Selfless my ass.
Yes he’s a hypocrite
I feel so inspired and happy when I look and listen at these two :) Such a positive energy are coming from you guys!💙
My favorite pair all in one video!! Actually screamed when I got the notification, it popped up after I bought all of Hyrams products. Perfect night!!
The part with you and Hyram at the start is the most wholesome thing ever 🥰
I love when friends support each other but how can you be totally unbiased when reviewing your friend’s skincare brand? 😌
Psychology research says absolutely not
He said he will try to be as much as possible, no that he won't
Honestly I don’t think as humans you can be! But I was honest as far as what I would spend my own money on and what I wouldn’t. And truthfully, none of these products are bad for my skin in particular 🤷🏽♂️
@@JamesWelsh they may not be bad for your skin but are they truly worth the money that's what you forgot to tell your viewers. Love hyram but deffo not excited about this brand, it's more for teens or people who have no idea where to start in skincare
@@lolagonvieve7388 Well that’s a good niche, a lot of his viewers came in not knowing anything about skincare and learned from him. It seems appropriate. Only you can really decide based on the information given if it’s worth your money
Came for the review, stayed for the wholesome videochat ❤️
Tarte’s whole thing has been maracuja oil for the last 6+ years. They sell the oil, they have it in foundations, they have it in moisturizer, eye cream, etc. I think it’s literally a category you can search for on their website. So Hiram isn’t revolutionary to use it.
tartecosmetics.com/shop/collections/maracuja/ I wasn’t kidding, they sell 10 products that contain the name maracuja and they’ve had the oil for sale since at least 2012. So at least 9 years they’ve been running with it
Ya that's what I was thinking, surprised that James hadn't heard of it.
@@pinkabuki yeah… especially since tarte is a very international brand it doesn’t make sense to me. I also don’t know why more companies haven’t jump on the train since it’s been so popular for them for so long
I had no idea Tarte did skincare tbh!
@@JamesWelsh they do! They were the first company to introduce me to a gel moisturizer way back in 2016. Honestly though they’ve become a bit irrelevant and have been dropping their prices bc the demand hasn’t been there so it’s ok you didn’t know 😂
Yaaas! Been waiting for this
Was excited to hear this and erroneously thought it would be at a great price point, being a collab w the Inkey List. But way over my budget, which is disappointing. $26AUD for a wash off cleanser?? Pass from me.
All that sustainable sourcing, tree planting stuff costs $$$
Generally, it's made responsibly or cheap, pick one, and that's a shame
@@bw4500 No, don't buy that for a minute. Plenty of ethical brands offer products at a reasonable price point. These products are jacked up because of his name and notoriety. I've been around long enough to know a price grab when I see one.. Shame that Inkey has gone down this path, have lost quite a bit of respect for their brand.
@@LouLou-Aus - you don't know that. Regardless of how long you've been around none of us actually understand the margins or input costs of this business. I don't know and neither do you. It seems fashionable to hate on this kid though and to make all the least charitable assumptions.
@@bw4500 Disagree with the allegation that "it seems fashionable to hate on this kid". I quite like Hyram and enjoy watching him, I think he is a great skin care ambassador. I am disappointed in the Inkey List for the prices, not young Hyram. Your comment concerning my knowledge and my 'assumptions" are false. I am acutely aware of manufacturing costs and processes in the skin care industry, both in Aus and abroad. Even if not, I am entitled to an opinion on a product being overpriced and stand by that opinion-along with my right to have it. Cheers to you, B.W.
@@LouLou-Aus - if you are acutely aware, can you detail it for me ?
The only product I would be interested in is the cleanser. I would also like to see what else the brand offers in the future. I wouldn't expect Inkey List prices since it's a whole new brand and the price point will be different. It's proof that you can't please everybody all the time....ps...I've never watched a review by Hyram so this is my view as a neutral observer. Thanks for your sharing your thoughts James. I'd say you were unbiased and you're totally allowed to be excited to try and love something new especially if it's something your friend created ❤️
I really appreciate the mature honesty you guys have. Constructive criticism is really healthy!!
James you're literally a good one for us ❤❤❤❤❤ just like a true friend 😍. Thanks for helping and suggesting us the best products for us ❤
What we need next is James collaborating with cosrax and delivering a skincare line😎😌
I love james welsh. But i’ve fallen out of love from hyram. The name is self-serving, the indgredients are gimmicky, the price is absurd, the profit -to-donation shows off like a marketing strategy. Basically not genuine at all. I love you james but you need to keep products from a different kind of view
Happy for Hyram but this is not affordably priced for the everyday person which is disappointing as that was his whole message.
Thank you for giving the two disclaimers at the first of this video.
Honor to you for keeping it real!
Congratulations to Hyrum.
