These are about to jump in value, mark my words. Outdated? Absolutely. But they're reaching the age where people no longer want them for their performance, they want them for their legacy.
IMHO, as long as the car's badge has the letters IMPREZA WRX, the respective owner is mostly guaranteed SATISFACTION and SMILES EVERY MILE s/he drives it... it doesn't matter whether it's GC8, BUGEYE, BLOBEYE, HAWKEYE, STINKEYE... leave that to the onlookers to decide... You can't look at your car when you're driving it anyway but most importantly you achieve the inner satisfaction only a Scooby driver/owner can appreciate 🏆
@@octavionunez8466 it was 9000 but it was 1 owner with all service records and receipts plus it only had an invidia catback. But you can find a clean bugeye for about 5-6 thousand. Id stay away from wagons if youre anywhere near salt because the strut towers literally disintegrate from winter driving
I just picked up a 02 WRX sport wagon. Bone stock for 2 grand. Ran terrible, check engine light, and no boost to speak of. Did a oil flush (chunky) and spark plugs. Runs like a top. Hit up the rust with some reformer and it's ready to go.
I take offense at the statement "... every early 2000s radio was absolute garbage." My 2003 Jetta Wolfsburg sound system - including tape deck - stomps the stock sound in my 2017 WRX. I still own both cars so this comparison is baby sh*t fresh.
Lexus had good sound systems in the 2000's, especially the Mark Levinson sound system in the LX and GX. Our 2003 GX470 came with that sound system, and apart from a blown speaker in the third row (which we hardly used), it was great.
Oh and yes, I own a SUBARU IMPREZA WRX, a MITSUBISHI EVOLUTION, a TOYOTA CELICA GT4. All 3 cars are great machines and a legend in their respective eras and I respect+appreciate their respective owner's enthusiasm in their wheel of choice. All 3 have their respective strengths and weaknesses. However, subjectively to me, until today, I still look forward to driving my Impreza every day (it's my daily driver too). My Celica becomes my weekend ride and I sold my Evo to a more appreciative owner (a hardcore Evo enthusiast, of course 👍) because the Evo always demanded me to be a Tommi Makkinen wannabe every time I drive it 😈 🤦
I'm about to grab either a bug eye or blob eye in 2022 but I'm wondering if I should just consider money for an engine/tran swap immediately given most are around 200k miles on them without crazy modifications already done to them. Is mileage just a number if you can salvage/rebuild the engine or easier to grab a low mileage sti and swap?
One of the last muscle cars. Subaru put in a strong motor on an awd frame and didn't care about the interior. It only has what you need. They still mostly don't care about interior compared to other companies. *Performance* > Luxury. That's what you pay for with Subaru.
I see that Bee*R rev limiter! Why didn't you give it a test? I was looking at one for my car and would live to see it on a car with the exact same engine! thanks!
I have the 2003 bugeye it's my first car and I want to do more research on it but what do you guys think goes good with the silver grey body color as an accent color I was thinking a blue or red but that seems kind of over used I'd love to hear your thoughts
Had a really really beat one as a first car, great first car, teaches you how to drive fast while also pretty much being dummy proof, they teach you how to work on cars for sure🤦♂️🤦♂️😂😂but honestly in terms of a first car, I think it’s a great first car, easy to drive, lots of visibility, easy to learn how to drive fast, teaches you how to work on cars, a lot of cons too of course, including outrageous insurance, my 2000 mustang gt is $77 for insurance and I’m 19, my wrx was $240 a month
marczmartin a good first car is one you’re not really afraid to crash in. So really a bigger vehicle 😂 my first car was a old f150 even if you just get it for like 1000 and drive it for a little over half a year and sell it then get another car. It’s good to learn before getting in something smaller.
Bugeye and Blobeyes are best eyes
Daniel Champion took the words right outta my ass dude
Blobeye < hawkeye

aww i don't... a well done gc8 does look really good ;)
I like the the hawkeye

best review ever. simple, straight forward, no bs. good work dude!!!!

I own a 2003 bugeye with only 44k original miles !!! Damn reliable
You found a rare one
I was happy to find one with 100k😭😭
I found one with 200k and for $3000!! Lol
how has it been for you? I am in the market and wondering if I should worry about high mileage. Prepared for belt if need be. @@moneyseeker8886

to be honest, as a wrx owner, spark plugs aren't to bad. easier than doing a clutch on anything ahaha
clutches on fwd or rwd cars are simplier
Found spark plugs to be fairly easy. The turbo swap will be a pain though
Yes when I got my wrx I was always told good luck when you do the spark plugs and it is really not bad at all.
I'm actually looking into buying a 2002 WRX your video helped me with some questions I had about them.
Picked up my bugeye in February! Love that pos!
These will put a smile on your face everyday
i picked up my bugeye w/ 75k miles and have put about 10k miles on, ready to start modding it
How much did you get it for, looking for one myself

spark plugs are mad easy, and only the n/a early 2000s subies had issues with the headgaskets
you laugh like pennywise.
Seeing this one on the Twisted Metal TV series made me fall in love with it! 😍

Spark plugs are overhyped on these cars. Actually very easy. Especially NA boxers.
Yeah head gaskets suck
Thanks for the review!

Nice video, good commentary. I'm about to buy a nice bug eye body as my first subaru for a resto.
These are the ones I love. The original look. The new ones. Meh! ❤💙🔥🔥😁😎
Great review. Thank you. :-)

What about wrx Wagons?
Thats an external wastegate(ewg) not a blow off valve
I think the owner put a blow off valve in.

wow those tail lights at 9:46
Where’s the hood scoop from?
My 93 2.2 Legacy non turbo is not gutless. But the Forester can indeed feel lazy.
what kind of rims are those?

how can i get em?

Is this good for daily driving?
Fun, not great on mileage if you need that. But lots of fun on daily
I hate the people that say that boxer engines make a unique sound when it’s just a uel header

external wastegate?
would this be a good first time car??

No

fun fact subaru group in the netherlands, from what i've seen and heard,is hella toxic,so not every subaru club is the same xD
