I something that would spruce this up would be having the Captain almost always give 2 MRAP’s placing all pertinent PCs and NPC’s in one and having the other MRAP lead the convoy draw the majority of the fire in the ambush. This way you could emphasis the kill or be killed nature of life outside the wire without accidentally TPKing the party. I think actually the siege would be the most interesting finale with the players hiding in a side building, and the villages disabling the transport while they are in the temple. I’d have the villagers infinitely come with them suddenly stopping when the PCs run out of ammo. However when the dust clears the village is gone and they are no longer in Afghanistan anymore either.
