Andrew, you mention Portugal on a regular basis. Why? I ran away from there at my first opportunity: high taxes, low quality public services, horrendous bureaucracy, one of the most backwards economies in Europe. What am I missing here?
It's still one of the most safe countries in the world. And the Portuguese are educated, respectful and friendly towards foreigners and other cultures.
I've worked in the golden visa industry, namely with tax representation. Some Portuguese might come here and say Portugal has nice weather, people are friendly, yada yada but that is almost entirely irrelevant when making a huge investment like the golden visa. Especially nowadays when the regulations have changed and the minimum value of investment has skyrocketed and foreigners cannot buy property in the coastline, aka the most sought after region, for obvious reasons (combating gentrification). All in all, you made a great decision, it's no worth investing in this country. As you said and well, high taxes, mediocre public services and an ever worse bureaucracy, economy not doing well, etc.
if you are starting a crypto business (Blockchain Play to Earn Game) and want to be based where there will be the best taxes for that business where should we look?
But when you say "you can live anywhere in Europe after 5 years" if you moved from the place you had the 5 years in and you want to go somewhere else in the eu don't you have to start over the 5 years. Or you have to keep returning to the original place to live half the year.
You can't live anywhere within the EU before obtaining Maltese citizenship - this is what he means. Also, living in a country for 5 years allows you to apply for citizenship, but that doesn't mean you will get it immediately - my application took 4 years!!
Problem is to find such a country where good to setup business and justice system that protects foreigners. What good is a golden visa and savings if you can't protect yourself legally?
I heard it’s nearly impossible to open a bank account for a foreigner even for resident living in Malta. Can anybody confirm this info. Much appreciate!

With a British passport you can simply move to Ireland, live there, and apply for naturalization after 5 years. However, just be mindful that Ireland is not too keen on newly naturalized citizens to then move away from Ireland once you get the Irish passport.
