There are although few, boxers who retired undefeated and achieved more winning streaks than May and you never see them boast about it. May perpetuated the idea that being undefeated means being THE BEST. His fans ang haters took the bait, and now look at how successful he is now.

    I'm sure for most of these legendary boxers losing their 0 was more of a relief for them. Being human, our survival instinct would always be tingling if everything goes right and the longer it last the more anxious and alerted we feel. So much so that back in ancient Rome, the champions are given a Memento Mori or even someone on their back to constantly remind them that they won't be winning forever, all men dies.

    Muhammad Ali stood up after this blow. Imagine, he was already ill then, he slowed down, he was already old, he was not at the peak of his form. But he withstood a punch from one of the best heavyweight boxers at the time. He got up and continued to fight for many more rounds without getting knocked out, even though he was already sick at the time.
