this is gonna sound nerdy as hell, but it would be kinda sick to see you guys make "oc/anime style" decks , all cards are 1 ofs unless the card state's it summons a copy of itself in which case it's limited to 2, it can be an archetype no handtraps that don't serve the deck, that's it, like you can play branded but it has to be all one ofs or a stardust deck using all one ofs , the goal is to really limit use of generic or staple cards like ash blossom or appollusa, even foolish burial and trying to avoid certain classics like blue-eyes or dark magician even though you can likely use those
@@JcBravo8 Hmmm... there's a set coming in about a month or so called Retro Pack, which would be great if he wants some old-school Yu-Gi-Oh cards. As for some exciting new things, I would recommend the latest Battles of Legend set or perhaps one of the two Rarity Collection sets!
@@TeamAPS Thanks for the info! If he ever gets an interest in YGO the best I'd be able to teach would probably be GOAT, so that Retropack seems ideal. But lots of the new cards look super shiny and I think he'll like that XD XD.
Maha Vailo has always been one of my favorite cards. Because of the way equip cards stack on it. And then one day I realized how much I enjoy using a quick cards as a strategy in a deck (i only played when i was young, and casaully with friends a few years later) and i was like "damn dude, i play like joey.." lol

Stopped playing yugioh years ago and got back into it again with the 25 anniversary release. Love the content you guys make, HIGHLY entertaining. Can’t get enough of it
This is 10/10 quality editing and dueling. Me as a non YGO player can read along with the cards and understand everything happening. really enjoyed it. Great job guys
I absolutely adore this type of play. You guys used cards that no one would use, summoned Ritual monsters that never once saw play, but that was what made this such a refreshing game! Now I want to buy some classic boxes to recreate this.
Maha Vailo was one of my favorite cards as a kid so I'm really happy to see it being used, such a nostalgic pull. I never got Axe of Despair as a kid but I do remember using Black Pendant and Malevolent Nuzzler with it, good times..
Instantly liked. My first ever booster pack was Magic Ruler and I remember being so hyped that I pulled a Crab Turtle because "omg it can beat Dark Magician!"
I remember before Konami/upper deck got sued by wizards of the coast and had to change all magic cards to spell cards and change magic ruler to spell ruler. It happened after pharonic guardian, after legacy of darkness, but before magician's force. It'll always be magic ruler to me.
This is the most fun duel I've seen in a while, no joke. Also my very first booster was a Magic Ruler one and I pulled a Nimble Momonga. Good memories.
I got so excited for a second there with Paul getting Maha on the field beefed out with Axe and Horn! Man I loved that card, with stuff like united we stand it just becomes a beatstick god. Great duel guys!
That was fantastic! What an absolutely wild game, these types of videos are definitely your best. I am always a fan of challenge builds and wanted to do this myself. Maybe one day...
@@TeamAPSto add to what Kenji said, you open 5-10 master packs and build a deck from those cards. If you win on the Master Duel ladder, you can open an additional pack plus any legacy packs you can get. The goal is to climb as far as you can with the absolute nonsense you are going to pull
This video really showed how great a new draft set could be - seeing the absolute jank of Spell Ruler that wouldn’t see play outside of this video. A super fun duel.
I hope you keep doing these! I actually pulled Snatch Steal myself out of the new boosters, looking forward to yoinking some Flambergs and Labyrinth ladies at my locals
I do miss the joy of pulling a super rare out of a pack, nothing special about it anymore, even ultras and secrets are kinda dull. Paul got screwed on high rarity cards, 2 supers and 1 ultra vs 1 super, 2 ultras and a secret.
I really enjoy the work y'all do here on this channel! These videos bring back so many memories for me. I started playing when the original starter decks came out as a junior in high school and quit after Labyrinth of Nightmare (I would play in local tournaments from time to time, but haven't since 2010). I play with some newer cards occasionally, but this stuff is so nostalgic for me.
We WANT Slyfer Slackers back. We miss the deck upgrading and seeing how decks play out. Very disappointed not seeing it be continued like you said you would
That Maha vailo combo was my big combo back in the day before I collected exodia. This was back yard rules so I would equip em with like 7 or 8 cards and the attack got insane lol
You know what would be awesome for these retro games? Both of you open all your packs and get 5-10 cards that you are willing to trade to try and improve your deck.
These were really sick duels. the burn cards really made them fast paced and more intense. almost like summoning in normal ygo should have a lifepoint cost.
If I might offer an idea for a variant on these old school duels. For something different, instead of just doing packs from a single set, why not something like each player gets 4 packs from LoB, Metal Raiders, and Spell Ruler?
Can't understand why you didn't give Alec your toon world, would be nice to see you guys using these weird archetypes, maybe you can start doing a little trade of a few Select cards you pre pick or something.
By the way if you wanna watch a little more old-school Yu-Gi-Oh we've done some of the other early sets!

Y'all can say all you want, but this is hundred times more fun than watching someone shuffle their deck.
Since you told me to I think I will say what I want: only 100?!? Way better than that my guy 😂❤
Without a doubt
Modern Yugioh be like
We've been spoiled by the current meta. Today's "masochism" was "wacky, unpredictable fun" for broke kids in 2002
I dont watch modern yu gi oh crap much less try and learn it lol
That tailor of the fickle play was iconic
That was so zesty I loved it
but this is hundred times more fun than watching someone shuffle their deck.
truly absolutely a wholesome fun ride
That tailor of the fickle play was fire 🔥felt like an anime moment with Yugi turning the whole duel around with 1 card.
YES!! It was so satisfying
Alec slowly hauling ass out of frame when he got ready to play Snatch Steal was hilarious XD
That was classic 😂
This the type of yugioh I miss man I really do.
Yall really went wild with the banter especially you paul I want more banter like that 😂
The duels get more and more off the rails the longer they go
DAMN THIS IS WAY MORE FUN THAN 1 HOUR COMBOS
Glad you enjoyed it!
Whodathunk it, right?! If only modern Yu-Gi-Oh didn't entirely suck
It's possibly the biggest problem with modern YGO. Losing this fast-paced game feeling.
13:14 LMAOOO I FELL FOR IT
That was a great gag
They warned us 😂 I was legit like, what happened?! For a sec hahah
I check on Master Duel...that is how "Taylor of the Fickle"works in that situation
That tailor of the fickle comeback play to Alec's shenanigans was so out of the box that I don't ven care if it's legal 💀
"Why is it called a *Masochist* Duel?"
"I pay life points to [blank]!"
"Oh..."

Maha Vailo was probably one of the very first cards that Duelists could reasonably build around, and the set supported it really well for that, too!
I love the duality of Yugioh content with Pokemon music playing in the back
A double slap of nostalgia
I love these fun duels. But a thought. Have each duelist use on box set versus another duelist from a different set. Like Spell Ruler VS Metal Raiders
This is a neat idea! And as long as the sets released at least reasonably close together, power creep shouldn't be a huge issue.

Excited you guys are doing these. I hope this series is more affordable than the rare hunters series
The “video was removed by uploader” got me😭 wasn’t expecting that
I really want them to trade for the toon world!
Stopped playing yugioh years ago and got back into it again with the 25 anniversary release.
Love the content you guys make, HIGHLY entertaining. Can’t get enough of it
Yeah can we bring this type of dueling back? Definitely more fun than today
Hearing that music opening packs. I was expecting a furret to walk across the screen

Same! Still my favorite card, the one that started it all for me 😊
You guys should do a Yu-Gi-oh! Funny sketch video about going back in time and attending a Yu-gi-oh! Tournament in early 2000s with a 2024 deck lol 😂
OH MY GOD THIS IS GENIUS THANK YOU!!!
This was a really fun watch. You guys looked like you had a lot of fun doing this.
Spell Ruler is the most UNSERIOUS set!!!
13:14 played me so hard, I was about to riot Lmao Good one tho, had a nice laugh as I continued the duel
I remember before Konami/upper deck got sued by wizards of the coast and had to change all magic cards to spell cards and change magic ruler to spell ruler. It happened after pharonic guardian, after legacy of darkness, but before magician's force.
It'll always be magic ruler to me.
Magic Ruler sounds better to say as well
Snatch Steal into Tailor Of The Fickle was a sight to see lmao. That's what I loved about old Yugioh lol. Seeing the perfect counter lmao.

9:10 High Tide Gyojin is 50 short of destroying Sonic Bird because it's defense was raised from 1000 to 1700 by the Horn of the Unicorn.
That snatch steal came in handy and was Alec's MVC, but that tailor of the fickle play was crazy and unexpected.
That was fantastic! What an absolutely wild game, these types of videos are definitely your best. I am always a fan of challenge builds and wanted to do this myself. Maybe one day...
Absolutely digging the pokemon black & white music during the card opening :)
OH TEAM PLASMA MUSIC TOO
why is it that after i saw that title, i now want these guys to make a masochist series
How do those work again? We will consider it!
@TeamAPS IIRC it's building a deck in Master Duel using only the Master Packs
Sounds like a Master-chist series then

Omg the Tailor of the Fickle play was the most protagonist shit I've ever seen, wow
Yo!! That 5th gen music in the background though🔥! Ya'll giving Pokémon Black & White some love 👀
Gotta love it!
So that’s why they call it Spell Ruler: Spells rule the entire duel.
They really do!
13:36 it is like hundreds of childhood flashbacks hit him at once lol. Damn Paul was really on something for these duels. Hilarious.
Man, I love these old school Yu-Gi-Oh duels. Thanks for uploading!
Team Plasma theme in the background!
Paul should’ve given Alec his Toon World! 😢
that would have been cool however still glad we got this video :D
Game 2 Alec casually not paying life points
Gen 5 pokemon music!! Lets go
That entire box together is insane.
The title tricked me, I expected full power tearlaments
is there a version where it isn't fast-forward? I understand why it would be, but I still want to hear about the cards.
Love the music in the beginning. I can't not think of Furret walking lol
5:50, haha. The game of chicken was a amusing. Great duels.
It's almost like the Rare Hunter spin-off.
17:36 😂😂 nahh hol up 😂
12:37 the only part of the video that truly matters XD
Keep crushing these duels. Way better than 30 min millfest
Damn, Paul pulled a big play there. 😮
I was very proud of it!
Toon world, Toon Summoned Skull, Blue Eyes Toon Dragon, Snatch steal, black illusion ritual, Axe of Despair, Giant Trunade...that box is GOATED
12:35 damn Paul brutal!
This one was fantastic some truely fun old school duels :)
Accumula town went hard during the opening👌
Would love to see you guys do a toon deck build! Not just out of the box but have the whole collection to play/build a toon deck for!
I really miss old yugioh like this
Tailor of the Frickle is great, I remember trolling my friend with it when we were in this time with our progression duels :D
Chain energy mvp 😂
These duels are very entertaining, hope you guys do these duels more often
I remember when it used to be called '' Magic Ruler''
I’m surprised Alec did not offer Paul a trade for the Toon World card.
We WANT Slyfer Slackers back. We miss the deck upgrading and seeing how decks play out. Very disappointed not seeing it be continued like you said you would
Man, that was an incredible game 3 in particular! It was a ton of fun to watch, as with all y’all’s duels!
Yeah this one was actually REALLY tense with all the costs required to do anything lol
These old school duels are so fun! Keep it up guys!!!
Thank you for this video guys, I had a horrible day today and this was perfect to get my mind off everything. Love it!
That Maha vailo combo was my big combo back in the day before I collected exodia. This was back yard rules so I would equip em with like 7 or 8 cards and the attack got insane lol

1 of every of those searchers 😂 rat, turtoise, tomatoe, and the other 2's (dont knkw the names in english)

Thank you! 🙏🏾
This video was hilarious. I think it was my favorite classic set match yet!
No way bro flipped the mirror on him at the exact moment it was needed. This was realy enjoyable!
The Tailor of the Fickle play 🤣
Magic Ruler format is so Fire
Alecs first 3 packs were INSANE to get in a row omg
Right! Alec ALWAYS gets the best pulls in these videos, every single time! 😡
I'm crying that he is shuffling an ultra rare snatch steal and axe of despair

Honestly loving the old school Yugioh at the moment , made me get legacy of the duelist and I’m having so much fun
Yes yes more please! Loved mrd super excited to watch this one
