    • @Baking_MD
      @Baking_MD  3 года назад +12

      Unfortunately the path to medicine is stressful and long hours. But, I can suggest debt free ways:
      1) There are a few medical schools that offer free tuition (ie. NYU)
      2) You can go to the military path, but will need to repay in years of service (HPSP)

    • @user-mj7ny7ce6x
      @user-mj7ny7ce6x 2 года назад

      go to Europe for med school, entrance is usually easier if you do your research, usually it is much cheaper than the us. you can go to public schools in the UK or Ireland (competitive entrance) , or eastern European and even Italy offer English medical courses. you can also go hardcore , learn a local langauge, and study in Germany or Spain ( I have met expats studying medicine in these countries so yeah nothing is impossible or even difficult). life and studies in Europe are not a piece of cake but I feel have less of a ''RISE AND GRIND'' mentality compared to USA medical schools.
      also medical school is stressful, BUT ANY UNIVERSITY IS STRESSFUL, I wish someone told me this when I Was young instead of brainwashing me into thinking only type A geniuses go to med school, it is not true, I swear the parrots I studied with (including me) I wish someone told me that...

      I'm not sure what you mean by older. If you are 45 and is currently a MS4 applying to residency, you have the same changes as any other MS4. If you completed medical school 10 years ago, and is just applying to residency, then yes it significantly lower your changes.

      @Baking_MD  3 года назад +1

      Hi! I am so sorry this is happening to you. 14 hour everyday seems long even for a first year resident, and it is completely OK in my opinion to just go home and rest after such long days. It seems a little unreasonable for your supervisors to expect you to spend time reading textbooks when you work those hours. My best recommendation is to talk to your peers and see if others are also working such long hours, and to talk to a more senior resident (maybe your chief resident). They might be able to give you tips on how to be more efficient or give you more insight on what is happening. I'm sorry I can't say much more without knowing more of your situation.

    Hey there!
    Prospective Medical student here, I was curious if you could explain what it is that Pathologists actually do. Research into the topic yields little results, and I usually get information on “Forensic Pathologists.” Frankly, being a Pathologist sounds amazing, but I don’t think I have a grasp on what it actually is outside of the often cited “Forensic Pathology.”
    Also, I was wondering why average pay is cited as being around 300k, but specialized Pathologists have an income statement way below that (much lower than 200k). Am I just reading the CAP’s financial information wrong?

      No, pathologists do not have any in-house overnight calls. We do our overnights calls at home, and most can handled via the phone.

    Is hematopathology separate branch or it's subspeshality of pathology,

    • @Baking_MD
      @Baking_MD  3 года назад +1

      It's a subspecialty of Pathology. It is a 1-2 year fellowship after residency.

    May I ask how much are you paid while in residency?

    • @Baking_MD
      @Baking_MD  2 года назад +1

      It depends on the program, as PGY-1, it can be anywhere from $55-70k. There should be a small increase in pay every PGY level gained.

    Did you ever consider Radiology ?

      NEVER! Haha, Radiology is dark and sleep inducing, and Pathology is bright and pretty colors. But, the real reason is that I feel like radiology is like taking best guesses.

    Pathology lifestyle is among the best, but the pay for the training you put in is among the worst.

    Hello, I am interested in pathology but I am about to enter DO medical school. Do you believe graduating from a DO school would allow me to be competitive enough for pathology residency?

    • @Baking_MD
      @Baking_MD  Год назад +1

      Yes! There is no issue of applying to pathology as a DO, there are actually many people who do. You just need to prove your interest in pathology, like everyone else.
