Fundraising for nonprofits is hard, especially during a pandemic. But many are getting creative, moving their normal fundraising efforts online for what you’d call “virtual fundraisers”. In this video I share a handful of some of the best virtual fundraising ideas I’ve seen out there, including one I tried for my own nonprofit organization.

Your video popped up in my news feed because I organized a virtual fundraiser for a nonprofit this weekend. I am surprised that it did not make it to your list but a virtual trivia night is a great way to fundraise. The virtual fundraiser i hosted was very successful. We exceeded our fundraising goal for the event! It takes a bit to organize but it was worth it.

Hi Amber! I love your content, I just subscribed. I want to start a non profit organization to conduct soup kitchens. I’d like the soup kitchen to be fully vegan because not many people know the harmful effects of consuming excessive amounts of animal products. Obviously my priority will be feeding and enlightening homeless people but I’d also like to help the community as a whole. I’m completely lost as to where I should start.
Hey! Check out some of my videos with "Starting a nonprofit" in the title - there are some helpful strategies for getting started! I would say just be very mindful of surveying and understanding the community you want to serve. All nonprofits should do a lot of research first to make sure their idea will meet the true needs of the population (vs assuming they will). Start by arranging meetings with other nonprofits that serve people in your community experiencing homelessness, share your idea, and get their honest feedback - then go from there!

I have an idea for fundraising. I am retired and live in Nepal. It's a very poor country, but they have some really great handicrafts. They can make a wool hat and glove set, very soft, that can be used as a fundraiser for the cheerleaders and football teams of high schools and colleges done an the school colors. I actually know a woman with a women's group that makes things like this and works with people from around the world. The people in Nepal are really poor so buying from Nepal supports people, not sweat shops in China. A person could also find someone in Bangladesh or Malaysia, too.
There are some great orgs who support / uplift artisans in all countries, for sure! Also look into microfinance / Kiva to see if they might support.

I live in Nepal and a person can get a custom designed T-shirt for $5 and $3 to ship. A person could connect with someone here and when an order comes that person could just contact a T-shirt guy here and have him mail it. There's a lot of profit like this. It's my goal to promote Nepal as much as I can. I don't have a company or anything. I love living here and I just see so much potential.
There are certainly lots of causes who do merchandise!

Amazon has their Amazon Smile website. You can search for a nonprofit and then Amazon donates a percentage of your purchase to the nonprofit organization. This only works in the browser and not the app.
We use Amazon Smile for our website too! The issue is that it is not a very large amount of revenue - a few dollars here and there every few months, but it is nice to have the passive donations.
I will be launching a Crowdfunding campaign in FundRazr...in June. "Ecological Gardens project." The Planet deserves a lot more from us. Thanks 🌎

Do you know the best way to do an online concert like facebook live, zoom, something else and could you please expand on that. Thanks
So in general you want to think about where your audience / network of supporters will most likely be! I've done a Facebook Live concert fundraiser, and we're also doing some Zoom events. There are also some cool sites that will let you do interactive games and trivia in Zoom or other teleconferencing platforms.

Comet Studios, check out the RUclips channel of Whole Whale or WholeWhale. They support nonprofits and do internet stuff. They had a video on fundraising and he had mentioned the exact thing you were talking about. Doing like a Facebook live broadcast with a donate button. It can also be done on RUclips. They had just published the video I think within the last month. Good luck. I am working on my own idea for fundraising for nonprofits. Something similar to amazon smiletrain, but using digital products and commission of 50-60%. Selling a digital product based upon the affiliate or partner program. Called cause marketing. A lot of organizations need help because the need is high is high right now.
Good for the knowledge of the world to be a better people a better way to cause love which is a good thing

Hey there! With in-kind donations (donated goods or services rather than cash) it's a good idea to provide a tax letter and an accountant can help you value things if you aren't sure how.

Hi Harrison, some of the fundraising tips I share in the videos might be applicable to raising money for individuals, though my specialty is nonprofits.
This is great basically our foundation is 1year now and during the pandemic we could hardly get $500 a month to take care of the Less privileged children we profess.

Can you try crowdfunding sites, like GoFundMe?
do you need to be a registered organization in order to host these events?
It definitely makes things easier to be officially registered (both in your state and nationally) - you can do some fundraising before you are registered but you have to be transparent and research potential tax liability.
