I would say for a lot of people who aren’t horseman, such as myself, stick around for these videos you can learn a lot from Dewayne even if you’re not into the wrangling lifestyle.
Dewaynes videos are superficially about horses, and I’ve learned much about horse care from them - however they are really a means to address what it means to be a man. Attitudes, relationships and respect. General approach to life. I appreciate these video on many levels.
"Be nice to your horse, set him up to succeed." There is always a lesson in every one of your videos. I hope to come out and ride with you and mama in the next few years. Thank you for sharing Dewayne. Hope all is well!
I'm in my 60's and have ridden for about 40 of those 60 years and even though I preferred riding bareback, NO ONE ever explained saddling a horse this way. THANK YOU! Wow, all those years I was doing it wrong. 😢
Ive been riding and wrangling all my life, and when friends ask me to teach them to ride but have no knwodlege of horses I direct them to videos like this. You explained everything perfectly, alligning the concho with the end of their scapula is how I was taught. Thank you for making a quality video I can show people so I dont have to be teaching them for a couple hours with my horses tied up.
One of the best barrel racers is paralyzed from the waist down. Her name is Amberley Snyder. They made a movie about her called Walk. Ride. Rodeo. Never let your disability define you.
I dated an ol’gal who worked for a placed that used horse for paralyzed people. It seems if you lay a person across the rump it strengthens the back. Then when that get done for awhile , you set them up which strengthens the front. Like the other fellow said; look around to see what’s available in your area. The have that 40 seconds of insane bravery and try. Till then my Prayers
My grandpa is half paralyzed. It happened from a stray bullet during hunting season when he was young, and he is still riding horses. If you ever want to ride a horse, I encourage you to do so! I know nothing of your life, but I want you to know it's possible for you to do if you ever want to and don't let anyone tell you different. God bless!
I just learned the term "yard art" I always thought people were saying "yardark" I had no idea what that meant but when Dwayne said "yard art" it clicked that's wild learned a new word
I agree, I always remember being told to ensure my English saddle sat just behind the shoulder so that the horse's shoulder wasn't blocked when the horse moved his leg back. Also that the back of the saddle didn't extend behind the last rib.
Not to be ugly, but I created my own channel to put out the content that I wish to put out. I will not determine what content I’m going to put out based on what one person tells me they want to see. No offense, but I don’t know the difference when you’re watching or when you’re not. I will continue to put out whatever Contant I feel on my heart at the time is needed. You can start watching again or not, however you choose. It’s all good.
Very good video. Unfortunately, I bet you stepped on a few toes. I was shown this nearly 60 years ago, not near as nicely as you did. An old uncle came out, saw us saddling up his horse. He jerked the saddle off and showed us how to saddle a horse correctly. Only difference he offered to put our back pocket up somewhere between our shoulders. I love ya'lls videos, thank you for all that ya'll do, and thanks, Momma for your camera work. God bless ya'll for aii you do. And stay safe out there on your trails.
Beautiful lesson. I don't ride horses myself, but I still find these instructionals fascinating. Thank you so much, and keep them coming. And congratulations on surpassing the 1 million subscribers milestone, thoroughly well-deserved. God bless 🙏🏼❤️🔥💪🏽
FINALLY. Thank you for this well informed, easy to understand video with CORRECT information. I'm a horse trainer and western saddle "fitter" (I use that term loosely as most fitters in my area are from an English background and haven't the first clue about western saddles). 98% of the horses I work with or am fitting, they have the tree right up on the horses shoulders. Or even worse, use hollow treed Indian import saddles. I was going to make my own video on this for clients, but you saved me the time-now I can just send them yours.
GREAT VIDEO! I don't even ride a horse, but this video is so informatiive and clear about how to saddle a horse that I feel I could do it myself. This makes so much sense.
I havent ridden horses in a very long time. But in that time i never saddled a horse. Only rode them. I didnt know there were proper techniques to saddling. I love learning and learning new things. This video was informative and interesting to watch. Thank you Dwayne and mama Noel for these videos. I love them.❤ Gods blessings to you and your family always.🙏🎚❤️
I just wanted to say that I have been listening to your videos this past week. I am currently going through a difficult time in a relationship I’m in. You always cheer me up when I listen to you. You always share great life lessons.
I thought it was really cool that you guys kept the video playing after Dwayne said his salutations. it was a really cool way to conclude the video and watch the horse walkway as Dwayne put the saddle back in the tack shed. You guys should do more of that stuff.
Thank you very much. I've been riding 46 years, and I never knew this. I'm glad it'll be better for Comanche and Griffin now. Comanche is a Gipsy Vanner, and Griffin is 50% Appaloosa, 25% vanner and 25% Highland Pony
Unfortunately for me, i live outside of the US and in a place where you can only dream of having enough money to buy land and get your own horses. The people who own a lot of land here are farmers (and godbless them), usually these lands have been passed down and have been in their families for generations. I'd love nothing more than to live a nice humble life outside of a city, with my own land, own cattle and horses. But i know that will never be a reality for me, so dewaynes videos, for me, are a gift that keeps on giving. God bless ya dewayne.
I found the channel through the wisdom-videos, now I'm finding myself enjoying the horse-videos more and more, despite never really having much interesting in the subject. They are, for some reason, really calming :)
What a great demo! I've moved saddles back after noticing a weird change in gait. Thought that was due to shoulder restriction. Loved how you addressed the weight aspect- especially down-hill. I generally place the saddle on the withers then slide it back several inches till it finds that sweet spot where it seems to lock in. Sort of a 'feel' thing. Does that work, too? Would love to hear you address proper fit of breastcollars and different types/uses as they relate to conformation and diciplines. You're a wealth of good info, so glad you pass it along. Big congrats to you and Momma for making it big and keeping things real❤
Thank you for these explanations. It all brought me back to a time when I was introduced to horse riding, as a child. I remember that it is important to connect with your horse, and that they can feel what you feel. So I think that treating your horse right is part of the whole process :)
Once again, excellent information! One of the best explanations of saddle placement out there! I must admit, I was a cinch chaser. Placing the saddle so the cinch fell where I thought it should be. Thanks for your videos!
Great presentation/explanation. I ride my horse 3-5 times a week and saddle him as you described (as I learned at your school in TN) and have never had my saddle roll, and have never developed a sore on my horse. Thanks.
Dewayne and Momma, I don’t know much about horses but I love your passion around the subject. There is nothing that tops truly enjoying what you do and it comes through on this video. Finding a way to make a living at what you love is a true blessing. Peace, love, and happiness to y’all and your family.
I already have tried this out, and tried on saddles at my friends' and I am amazed. (See previous comment below). She was fitted with the bars on the shoulders and it was uneven with every tree over a dozen years ago, so I was convinced to go treeless. Now, I haven't minded riding in a treeless all these years, my saddle is super comfortable for her and I, but I will feel a little more secure for cantering practice. I have sent this to several of my horse friends and this will be fun to reevaluate our horses. Thank you DeWayne! I literally stumbled onto this video! I cantered last week in a western barrel saddle and no buck or resistance at all. First time in 16 years that I've owned her!
The best „how to saddle your horse“ video I’ve seen ! As I started riding I struggled saddling my horse the right way and no video did really work for my . I absolutely love the aura in your videos . Keep going!
Sometime, sir, I hope to see video of you finishing the saddling of a horse...as in, how snug do you tighten the cinch and belly band? And how do you fit a bridle properly to a horse? All their heads are different, too. So many questions I have about proper saddling and bridling procedures! Because a horse's comfort, health, and safety should always come first....especially since they're doing you the service of carrying you around. 😊
Love this video! Two options for a cinch workaround when the saddle is placed correctly behind the scapula, but due to rigging cinch is too far forward. The first is what is erroneously called shoulder relief cinch. It's actually elbow relief. The cinch is a curved cutaway shape to allow more elbow room. The second is take your saddle to a good saddle shop and get it reworked to change rigging position if possible. The first option is cheaper and better imo. Caveat would be if you love that saddle and are using it on one horse or several that all have same issue.
I rode a lot in Yosemite and I found it helped to anticipate what was going to happen during the first few miles, like if it was going to be really steep uphill I would start with it a little bit forward knowing it would settle back and vice versa, helped not having to stop the string in awkward spots for adjustments.
You are 100 percent correct. I have been with horses everyday for the past 57 years. I just now discovered this. I may have saddled some correctly , but it was by accident.
Love the Video guys, your interaction between each other warms my heart guys truly, it reminds me of the relationship I share with my wife. God Bless folks
Excellent video. I’ve encountered many a person that didn’t know how to tack up their mount after stating they have “experience”. These same people gall their mount along the cinch line , especially on ones that have recently come off winter pasture.
I think I remember the original of this topic. I had just had a “professional “ saddle fitter come fit my pony for a saddle. Where he had it was right up on the scapular. It was a saddle that could be rigged full or 7/8 he had it rigged 7/8. Once I got it back of the scapula where it belonged I was able to move the cinch ahead and still have room without rubbing. I appreciate you giving your knowledge out for free. One day I hope to make it to your school.
Dewayne is like an angel along my journey that deep down feels like it's heading towards needing to know how to horsepack/mulepack supply lines to my Foresters
A few strange questions below. I'm surprised you started replying. Good stuff on finding the pocket. I finally figured it out on my own but many years too far forward.
I watched this said video. Thank you so much for your follow up. This is exactly how I was taught. However, I'm so glad you went into cinch placement. I've been doing it wrong and I owe my horses an apology. I appreciate your guidance. Thank you.
Very instructional. I don't ride any more but I used to go miles. What a quiet lovely horse you have there. Mine were always a bit more spirited but easy to handle. Thank you for this.
I'm not a horse rider but hopefully I can show a cute girl I know how to saddle a horse one day 😅..thanks Dwayne, and wow what a view yall have that is pretty amazing
Loved the video. When i first learned to saddle, many moons ago, i was told to put it behind their "arm pit", that never seemed right to me, but i was a greenhorn. Glad to know i improved. Sheridan Wyoming here, we are glad to see you are back on track, horses!
Hi Mark. I am from Iowa. Question. Is the old famous Bar on mainstreet still open
Being half paralyzed; I doubt I’ll ever ride a horse; but I still learned something new; which is excellent! Thanks Dewayne and Momma for filming!

Loved the video, the closeup shots and as the horse walked away probably thinking "i hope he does not call me back for a second take..."
That little extended ending was great
I was thinking the same. Momma did a great job
Dewayne, I haven’t ridden for some 30+ years, but I love these videos.
Loved the little extended ending. (:
I don’t ride horses but I still like these videos because I always learn something. There’s always a little lesson.

This is absolutely the best advice on correct saddling that I have found. A respectful, humble, and informative gem!!! He is a real cowboy.
Thanks, Biscuit. 😃👍
I watched you when it was more about horses. Keep doing stuff like this and I'll start watching again.

I love when people know what they're talking about.
Beautiful country ! I'm so glad spring is here !
After almost 60yrs riding, (mostly English). Thank you.
Great video. Most people don’t know where to place saddle! They think the cinch places the saddle instead of the saddle places the cinch!
I am new at horseriding and this is the BEST video I have ever seen. Now I know exactly where to put the saddle. Thank You.
Beautiful camera work. Thank you, all three, for this wonderful video!

I have been having behavioral issues stemming from the shoulders and now it all makes sense. I feel terrible, thank you for sharing
I don’t know how I found your channel, but feeling very blessed that I did! I thank you sir, this was excellent! Looking forward to the next one!!
GREAT VIDEO! I don't even ride a horse, but this video is so informatiive and clear about how to saddle a horse that I feel I could do it myself. This makes so much sense.
Glad to see a video on horses vs what I call human ethics. Going to saddle my horse in the morning using this method to check my self
Congratulations on 1 million subscribers ❤
This was so helpful. Thank you so much for explaining things the way you do.
Dwayne is so right. More people than you think have no idea how to fit nor saddle a horse. Great presentation!!!!
I havent ridden horses in a very long time. But in that time i never saddled a horse. Only rode them. I didnt know there were proper techniques to saddling. I love learning and learning new things. This IS Huge a very basic issue so many struggle with .....YOU just Fixed Thank You
I’ve been confused by many videos, and yours finally made me see the light. Thank you so much.
Off topic of the videos topic but you and mama are so cute together.
I just wanted to say that I have been listening to your videos this past week. I am currently going through a difficult time in a relationship I’m in. You always cheer me up when I listen to you. You always share great life lessons.

I'm not a rider but i found this fascinating. Thank you for sharing.
Have to say.. You did a good job on those 2 saddle considerations . Being it's a tender topic. Was wanting you so much to be right what a relief.
I found the channel through the wisdom-videos, now I'm finding myself enjoying the horse-videos more and more, despite never really having much interesting in the subject. They are, for some reason, really calming :)
Great video, great information, we’ll done, thank you!
Thanks Momma and Dewayne, very informative and excellent sound.
Greetings from a South African farmer.. great video sir. Very helpful since I am about to purchase my first horse this week
I know zero about this lifestyle, but I have learned more from you than anyone in my life. Respect 💯
wish I could have watched this 10 years ago, had to figure it out the hard way.
Thanks Dewayne! More good saddle & cinch placement info, I learned more! I SO appreciate the info you two share.😊😊
Best video on saddling ever. Wish I had this information years ago.
The END? The horses just roam free❤️ Amazing 👏

Very interesting, I've always seen a horse saddened forward on the withers, thanks for clearing me up on this.

I have been around horses all of my life. Listen to this man, he has the gospel truth.

Yard art horses!😂
I’ve always heard them called “pasture ornaments.”
Thank you for sharing these tips again!
All I can say is Thank you, Thank you , Thank you.
Well my horse would thank you very much for this. Lesson learned.
The best „how to saddle your horse“ video I’ve seen ! As I started riding I struggled saddling my horse the right way and no video did really work for my . I absolutely love the aura in your videos . Keep going!
Thanks so much Dwayne for the video, I’ve been watching you from the start and I love when you go back to the wrangling and cowboyin videos

Thank you Dewayne and Momma so wonderful and detailed. I love all and Biscuit earned a carrot 💕
Now that's one big horse!
YES Brother this is Huge Needed Info , so confusing issue ...Thank you
I rode a lot in Yosemite and I found it helped to anticipate what was going to happen during the first few miles, like if it was going to be really steep uphill I would start with it a little bit forward knowing it would settle back and vice versa, helped not having to stop the string in awkward spots for adjustments.
You are 100 percent correct. I have been with horses everyday for the past 57 years. I just now discovered this. I may have saddled some correctly , but it was by accident.
Thank you. This video was needed. Now grab yourself a cigar. I truly respect you. Thank you
Love the Video guys, your interaction between each other warms my heart guys truly, it reminds me of the relationship I share with my wife. God Bless folks
You have so much riding knowledge. Long rides.
Thank you Dwayne!
Well taught thanks
Excellent video. I’ve encountered many a person that didn’t know how to tack up their mount after stating they have “experience”. These same people gall their mount along the cinch line , especially on ones that have recently come off winter pasture.
I think I remember the original of this topic. I had just had a “professional “ saddle fitter come fit my pony for a saddle. Where he had it was right up on the scapular. You n momma are cute!!!🌈🫶❤️❤️❤️ Love yall
Dewayne is like an angel along my journey that deep down feels like it's heading towards needing to know how to horsepack/mulepack supply lines to my Foresters
Thanks I needed that 👍
Congrats again on One Million Subscribers! 👏 🐎 🐴 💡👏☀️🙏😊💚
A few strange questions below. I'm surprised you started replying. Good stuff on finding the pocket. I finally figured it out on my own but many years too far forward.
When you took that saddle in the barn ole Biscuit looks at you like,,,what, we ain't riding today?? Great video, keep em coming..
The back cinch was also something that bugged me. I was always told to have space between the body & the cinch. Never understood that either.
Good ending to that one, good filming momma
The last minute of this video was so nice, so peaceful. You could set a camera up to just watch you work, no commentary needed, and many of us would just enjoy that.
I agree
So glad to see a horse video!!!! Long over due!!!!
Don't worry bout naysayers. I was raised with horses. Was 12 before we got a tractor. Everything was horse and mule. But my father was extremely close minded. His way was the only way. Tied horses up to inter tubes etc.Broke horses not trained. Lord forbid if you ponied from left for ANY reason. Been out of horses for some yrs. Learned a lot of better ways on this channel. Hoping to get back into them soon.
The Manhattan saloon in Manhattan MT has a burger named after you! It’s the DRY CREEK burger!💪🇺🇸🦅💯!!
