I was so excited to do it with you but I got really disappointed from the beginning fix your hand fingers and your shoulders and when you go down with the grand plie come on girl you can do better and I'm not saying I'm better than you or anything but you should be an example
It's the Balanchine style - lots of differences in hands and fingers and port de bras. Also, she is just getting back into it, was ill for a while. I agree though, shoulders and alignment are a bit off in spots. Typically at barre with keep strictly classical positions, and play around with it more in centre and in choreography. But I see "choreographic stuff" happening at her barres - unsure if it's deliberate or not.

I love how our bodies change even as we are in the process of taking class! Our ribs lift up and away from our hips, thinning our waists a bit and making it easier to take deeper breaths. Our hips open more as our glutes lift and round, and our hamstrings pull up, allowing our hip flexors to release. Our shoulders draw down, our necks lenthen and our backs open. No worries, no cloudy thoughts, just in-the-moment presence. Love. No wonder we are so happy to take class!! Thank you for sharing this class with us, Kathryn. You are a generous teacher.
I love it how you're not trying to be super happy or apologise for the little mistakes during the balances etc. You're your true self and that's the reason I love your videos so much plus they're very helpful and informative. Btw you remind me of my ballet teacher especially with the face expression at the end XP She too throws big smiles after showing us new, harder combinations. Love from Finland
I didn't notice how much I was getting better at ballet until now that I see I can do all this stuff. Definitely thanks Kathryn, you have been so helpful and inspirational since I started❤
I was a dancer through all of high school, and then made a hard choice between a career i was passionate about (physical therapy) and continuing to be a dancer. I chose to continue a bit of dancing for my sanity in undergrad but then I just continued to be someone who just loves dance and also loves to workout. I love your videos even though I was NEVER close to your level (I probably could have completed this in high school when i was in "the thick of it" but never after). When I am on my toes I fall down easily and so my teacher said to be an uncooked noodle instead of a cooked noodle (idek😂😂😂) so I always think BE THE NOODLE, BE THE NOODLE! NO! DON'T COOK!!!
I tried this class when I first found Kathryn Morgan on youtube and I couldn't get through it. So I went back and worked my way up from the easy stuff to the more challenging. Today ... not only did I get through it but I had a much better understanding and was able to follow along at a much better pace! Yay for progress!!
Not a dancer, but when I first started taking real ballet classes, (Back in August of 2018) I was absolutely struggling to remember combinations. There ALWAYS had to be someone in front of me. After constant classes of repeating the same combinations and realizing certain ones have patterns, it suddenly started to become easier! I'm not perfect when it comes to memorizing combinations, but I have learned it truly is a repeated learning sort of thing. Goodness, some things even start to become automatic! I have no clue the arm positions when working in centre but am somehow able to automatically do them when working. I guess you could say muscle memory is the key?
I really like the way you filmed this! It was super helpful that you pivoted so we could see better when youre going to the back. This is probably way too hard for me at the moment but I watched it through anyways. I find that if I watch barre videos and dont necessarily do them, it helps me pick up combinations better. I try to always watch a barre through before attempting to do it. Hopefully eventually I can do this one without stumbling too much!
Love that you're doing these youtube classes! I did ballet recreationally for about 15 years before leaving for college 2 years ago. I've been looking for a way to get back into ballet since there isn't a ballet studio in town! Your videos are perfect; I can't wait to use them this upcoming school year!
Just did this ballet barre. Great job, Katie! I know I don't work as hard without a teacher watching me and a mirror to correct myself with, but still managed to break a sweat doing these combinations alone in my apartment.
THANK YOU Kathyrn!! Love your barres and centers, and cannot get enough. You get me back dancing, and this video = ballet GOALS (if I can ever do this barre flawlessly)
Thanks Katie! When I saw this said advanced I thought I'd have no chance of keeping up but I managed it and now I'm so proud of how I did!! Your advice has helped me improve so much!!
Thank you so much for this fantastic barre! I'm training pre-professionally at the moment and a lot of the time on my own unfortunately, so it was lovely to have some company with perfect teaching pace and level. Thoroughly enjoyed it! Thanking you, Kathryn! 🙏💪💫
Q&A: 1. Assemblés under. Our teacher includes them in every petit allegro, and we all feel like we look like we're dry heaving. 2. What should the timing look like on a grande plie? I thought in a 4 count grande, I would hit demi (heels down) at 1 and 3, but the professionals in my class seem to drop down all the way on 1.
As an advanced dancer who stopped dancing 3 years ago this was so great for me!! Definitely a great (yet challenging) way of coming back into shape! Needs a lot of work of course, but so so helpful. Thank you!

Thank you so much for posting this. I have really had a lot of self doubt and after seeing that I could do all of this I feel that I can do so much more than I thought before. Thanks for always posting such great content that encourages me to always try my hardest.
Kathryn finally says but I still just wanna put this out there, leave it or take it: When dance teachers say "lift up" they mean put 60% of your weight on the balls of your feet. Your whole alignment needs to be in a way that you could go up on relevé anytime (it's gonna feel weird at first, I felt like a "Skispringer", but now it's totally my power place). I feel like most of them don't explain this enough. Kathryn, I love your online classes by the way! Thank you so much!
I loved this class! I did 3 of your intermediate classes before trying this one - and I feel like I did pretty well! I can keep up with the combinations and the footwork but I've always struggled with my arm placement. (Even after 14 years of in classroom instruction - but it's been over 12 years since I have done Ballet) Great instruction - appreciate the content, how quick you teach the combinations and how we just get right to it!

Amazing class, thank you!!! Just did the whole thing in my apartment living room... Have just been unable to get to a class with teaching and work hours... Xx
I love watching you dance yor barre is great . You're my inspiration.
Loved this! Please make more! Maybe even a full pointe class?
So excited - can't wait to follow along!
Great class! Thank you so much for having so many available.
Thank you so much! Watching during quarantine and need a good workout!
Thank you so much for this barre! I love a class that is challenging and allows me to push myself to new levels. I also really love Chris's intermediate class. I absolutely love these classes!!❤️😍
I’m using this to help me in ballet class, I started a week ago and I’m trying to memorize moves. Thanks for helping!
love it!!! helps with my daily home routine
Loved this video! All the combinations were perfect for an advanced ballet warm up! I am on break right now so I wanted to do a ballet barre warm up at home and this made me feel great!
That fondu was intense! Such a good class :) so grateful x
I love this class! It is great to do at home when you have a break from the regular ballet classes. It would be nice, however, if you could do one without intros as well, as you did with the other classes! :)
How can j have bigger extensions and turnout? Suggestions? Or just by doing as many of these videis as i can?
This class was amazing since it is quarantine. Thank you so much!
I'm young, I'm 12 and until I go back to dance ( I used to dance but stopped, I'm going back in a few weeks ) this was hard to memorize cause it's fast, but I got it :) thank you!
