This video was featured in late 1980 on "Rock World". I have several other videos here from RW as well as the other great late-night video show, "Hollywood Heartbeat".
This band were fantastic. Brought out two cracking albums. Some great little gems. So underrated . More to them than the overplayed turning Japanese! !.LETTER FROM HERO AND SILVER MACHINES . SUPERB
+JHarold I have a BBC live recording from 1981, brilliant! The songs all rock harder live Letter From Hiro is practically a punk song the guitar is powerful.
Such a phenomenal song and band...for those who may not know, the Vapors recently released their first album in 39 years, and sure enough, it's darn good :) Woiuld finally love to see them if they ever hit the USA again.
They had a few gems this didn't chart anywhere in the World interesting it's a fantastic Video it should have i can say why they played it brilliant good choice
Saw the Vapors Friday 5 January 2024, amazing as ever. They played this brilliantly. I chatted briefly to the legend Dave Fenton. Seeing them in April and May, sadly I’ve not seen them play what I regard their best song - Spring Collection - for years, perhaps next time?
Yes great band news at ten still sounds good 40 years after its release saw them live at Cambridge corn exchange in 1980 like the headboys and the motors didn't get the success and recognition they deserved so talented and underated the best of power pop / new wave Michael
Great song, and a VERY different mix than the LP/CD. Was this a single mix? The bass really stands out nicely. Both their albums are great. Thanks for posting this.
Isn’t that both the best and worst at the same time? Cool to see an awesome band with a few friends but not so much for the band. My brother took me in 1981 to see this “new punk” band from Ireland. That was the first time I saw U2 (175 people there - the venue was a church).
Saw them at the 100 club a couple of weeks ago .. January show 15 quid to get in .. they were fantastic .. absolute privilege to see then deliver this and their back catalogue and new stuff .. go and see them
im tired of reading people bitching about how underrated is this band maybe they are but what's the deal with stigmatizing things that way? let's stop saying they're underrated and let's over rate them or rate them or whatever, but just stop bitching around, you got me, and many other music-lovers too, sick and tired. thank you :)
I liked the 70s,80s and 60s..but not much the 90s. now the music is so un original because the music industry is too much tampon rock with kate perry and that canadian singer. ohh . not to mention pro tool software- corporate rock =profit

+David Camm Saw them live after Magnets came out, great live band.

Do you really think so?
3 albums now!
You gotta listen to their 2020 album “Together”
New Clear Days is one of the greatest albums from the 80s, I'm still listening to it.
Such a phenomenal song and band...for those who may not know, the Vapors recently released their first album in 39 years, and sure enough, it's darn good :) Woiuld finally love to see them if they ever hit the USA again.
A totally under-rated band. Both "New Clear Days" and Magnets" were excellent albums. This and "News at Ten" had to be my favorites from these guys.
The more I listen this track the more it gets better. Underrated great band!
Very underrated song.
Immense talent

OMG ... there's a video of this tune! Awesome!

So underrated
This song rules.

One of my fave songs 🖤
Still in love with this band and Dave Fenton. ;)
Never heard the single version before. sounds great!
top of the pops 1 the vapours 💚

Excelente......los 80
Still an awesome band. :)
Que temazo! Una verdadera gema power pop

I never bought a Vapors LP and frankly had never heard anything but TJ. This is refreshing and unexpected.
This version is different from the album version...almost like a demo. Pretty cool to hear a different version. :-)
Still brill
Saw them live at the Trocadero in Phila for like 10 bucks in 1980 I think. They were absolutely tremendous, about 70 people there

fucking incredible song!!!
Yes this is the single version. very good bass. The album version is more brassy!
I was the 100k viewer
New Clear Days is in my Top 5 Favorite Albums. Love the band. Should've had it better
Video Number 205 on MTV August
This song is better than Turning Japanese. Glad I have the cd.
I dig the guitarist
In Peru Turning Japanese was a hit, this song not too much. I heard they had more good sons , well I gonna try to find those songs.
Well worth it
Love this fucking under-rated BAND/SONG.
Keith Richards? LOL
dont curse plz
The Vapors were GODS!
and um the first 24 hours of the brand new MTV song 202
HAPPY NATIONAL AUNT AND UNCLE'S DAY!
this is a different version than the one on the album.
+Paul Denton I think it was the version that was released on single. The version of news at ten is different on the 45 as well, heavier bass guitar.
ha dude's jammin on the crapper - great tune!
How True ! ............. Sad Society82 ...............
The announcer sounds like the one they called The Greaseman...could it be?
It was the late Joey Ryan. He was a Detroit radio fixture. He died in 2010.
Is it just me or does the lead singer look a little like Nick Cave?
HAPPY NATIONAL PARENTS DAY! AND HAPPY NATIONAL AUNT AND UNCLE DAY!

HAPPY NATIONAL CHILI DOG DAY!
Looks A lot like the The Strokes
Do you still hate 70s music?
that dubbed in bass is too loud.
