  • I love sunpatiens and using them in my garden. I use them as a border plant and it works great for us. They do like a lot of water, but they don't like fertilizer.

    SunPatiens have become my favorite annual for so many of the reasons you specified. I like that they look good after a rain as well. Thanks for all the great information you provide and for sharing your beautiful gardens.

    Great info Heidi! I fertilized mine and it took weeks before it started to bloom again and I didn't know what I did wrong! Your gardens are amazing especially your large shade/part shade bed with all those Hostas! Love it!!! 😀😀😀

    Gorgeous, in every way. Masses of color, Heidi, in a semi-shade area. So difficult to manage this kind of area. Just beautiful.

    They are so beautiful. Thanks for sharing. I tried 3 of them this year in my shade garden; they are the only annuals there but ohhh, the lovely colors, helping out the Heucheras. They do complain, mope and drupe if they are thirsty, big time! 🥰💚 I love the border look, it’s Gorgeous!! I’ll try that next season. 🥰💚

    Hello! I understand this is a busy time of year for you!
    I have been watching all the new videos that have been posted this year :]
    Maybe you can get to my question at some point.. i struggled with some plants last year and spent alot of money...
    How did you make your soil workable before planting around those trees? Did you dump alot of topsoil and amend with compost as you planted possibly? I have been struggling with my native clay soil and LOTS of tree roots huge rocks, whatever else... i spent alot of money just to be disappointed last year and would like to do alot better this year.
    Thankyou so much for all the videos, youre great :)
    And of course...This is beautiful ❤️ 😊
    Also.. also.. happy late birthday 🎉

      This hillside was free of trees when we started to planting the perennials. We then planted the trees. We have added new plants in over the years and have had to work around the roots or cut them with a spade. The soil we plant in is really light and fluffy, we do not have any clay in our yard ( thank goodness). You could bring in some top soil to plant into and then let the roots work their way into the clay.

      These are not deer resistant. If you watch my Northern Michigan garden videos I talk and show the deer damage. Some but not bad.

    Hello. Would you also forego tossing in Biotone at the time of planting Sunpatiens? Thanks for your help.

    • @gardencrossings
      @gardencrossings  2 года назад +1

      We do not use biotone. I would say you could use a little.

    Do you prefer these over supertunias?

    • @gardencrossings
      @gardencrossings  Год назад +1

      In some areas yes. If you have an area that is hard to fertilizer, i recommend Sunpatiens as they do not like fertilizer. They will not fill out as much as Vista Petunias though, so if you are looking to cover alot of ground and can fertilize then petunias.
