Sheeba mam portraying the character of a widow in a small town, is so perfect. Many widows become like her due to excessive controlling by their in-laws, brother and sister in-laws.

Sad part of her character is... unfortunately she lost her husband at a very young age and living with in laws perhaps didn't have any choice other than accepting others decisions in every aspects of her own life. She perfectly nailed it. I could relate her with my buaji.

True that. But you see ..women like her character in the movie are brought up in such an environment where they are all dependent on men. So after loosing her husband, she cannot survive on her own. There is this emotional dependence and support that such characters need all the time because their personality is weaved out of it. Their own mental fabric will never allow them independence. Even if you ask them to stay independently or give them money to do so....they will deny it. And willingly choose to be with the family. Call it anything. Yes, it should not be like that...but that's what it is. The emotional security the character feels ... being surrounded by people she knows...is of much importance to her and she can sustain the interference/order but not the solitude that comes with being on her own.

Why can’t we change ourselves?

It’s not true that they can’t. I helped my buaji and after working together for about 10 years now she is a successful handicraft business owner. She is making her choices.
When all doors are closed then God opens a window and if we become that window then we can help so many women like her.
The actress playing the mom gave the best performance in this film. I hope she gets the kind of work she deserves.
She was in Bandish bandits as well and she did a great job there too.
Sheeba chadda ji has always been a fantastic actor...just that she did not get ample opportunity in showcasing her talent thru films...maybe she refused to compromise on certain levels...however true talent cannot be hidden as it does pops out from somewhere or the other sooner or later ...I wish her all the best n wish to watch her more often in content driven films...

I am a huge fan of this scene. As an LGBT man, I always said "I am focusing on school" when family would ask if I had a girlfriend/wife. It is a small detail, yet I'm sure that many gays and lesbians have experienced the same thing. This scene captured this detail with a high degree of accuracy lol.

Bro the movie's concept is that of lavender marriage. They both(Bhumi and Rajkumar's character in movie) belong to lgbt+ community but since loving someone of same sex and wanting to spend your life with them is illegal they are forced to adapt and marry someone they aren't in love with just so they could be with someone they love indirectly.
Not to mention you just posted a sexist comment
