100s of people can play this piece well, but for true depth of feeling, there's Arrau, and few others.
He can make me cry, with nearly everything he played.

The tempo seems deliberately slow but I like it because you can hear virtually every note.

This Ballade may be Chopin's greatest achievement, occupying a position in his work like Beethoven's final piano sonatas in his, where the composer draws on a lifetime of achievement to offer us a view of eternal and perfect beauty. Arrau must have felt this, and his tempi were appropriate to this view.

Absolutely!!!! It is devoid of listening to oneself WHEN one plays so FAST that one cannot hear the beauty of the phrase.

Sí, un sonido robusto y profundo, propio de una gran técnica. El sonido de Arrau siempre parece que viene de otro mundo. (Y de hecho así debía ser).

When Arrau recorded this sweet piece by Chopin, he was still relatively young, and, perhaps in his best form. It is difficult piece, but Maestro Arrau gets the best of it, in my opinion. Although many have been critical of his sonority at the piano, I agree with the vast majority in saying that his strong sound at the piano, being of a special quality, at the special times when he used it, is just as pleasant and needed as any other technical quality as he was famous for. I've always loved the music played by Maestro Claudio Arrau.

Why is he so great at piano’s dynamics, is it because he does not have to worry of a music sheet?: GRACIAS MI ADORADO COMPATRIOTA POR HABERME DEJADO LA FELICIDAD DE OÍRTE!
