R.I.P. Orville Rogers. You were and still are an inspiration to us all. Since you passed away at the age of 101 years, I will call this, 'Orville's Fitness 101'.💪 May your light shine for forever, and may it be a guiding light for today's youth. 🙏Thank you for sharing.
Bunny Biedenharn Bunny, when I heard that part of NO sugar a LIGHT BULB went off. Sugar wasn’t anywhere as plentiful as it is today. We’re all killing ourselves and I’m a firm believer this is true. God Bless him. Between his Swimming and Dancing and 50 something years of no sugar and no added salt. And I can see his genetics in his young photos. As I sit here with my Glucose meter wondering if I am over sugaring myself.
@@gene978 In Great Britain, imported sugar was a huge problem, even prior to the Twentieth Century. Imports from the colonies ran a lot of English farmers out of business. And working class Brits (probably with some "advice" planted by the importers of sugar) began feeding their children delicious cakes with jam filling - and not much else. This was considered "good nutrition", since children would gobble-up the cakes, and gain weight, eating all that flour and sugar (that this was considered a GOOD thing, hints at why gross malnutrition and deadly epidemics were rampant in that era). So kudos to Mr. Evans, for breaking with his nation's long-standing sugar-laden dietary orthodoxy, long before going sugarless became popular! If you have Type 2 Diabetes, or are headed that way, or if you simply are in the process of developing Insulin Resistance, then totally stopping with the obvious sugars, the hidden sugars in processed foods, and the refined grains which might as well be sugar, will yield amazing results. Our whole far-flung "household", including staff, began dropping the carbs, and becoming FAT-ADAPTED, at the beginning of this summer. Our consensus would sound like, "Not only did I lose thirty pounds: I lost thirty YEARS" (feeling thirty years younger - particularly in terms of brain function). CrossFit offers a wealth of information on the subject. And if that's not enough, we (Bunny et Cie) have a pretty long RUclips playlist (Keto/Omad) of videos we've found especially informative, which you're welcome to peruse.
The man is an inspitation. I agree with the sugar comment and have a personaI interest in CrossFit and older membership. I was increadably unhealthy and obesse at 18 stone untill I gave up sugar and all glycemic food at age 64. I went keto and got into intermittant fasting. Four months later and 5 stone lighter I joined a CrossFit gym. Seven weeks after joining I became 3rd in Ireland in the 2019 CrossFit open in the 60+ mens caragory, then 2nd in the 2020 CrossFit Open. Aiming for 1st in 2012 at age 66. So age is not a barrier to health and fittness, just mindset and bad choices of life style. Sugar related illnesses kill about 1050 times more people each year than herion. I hope to be still competeing at 95.
I would love to sit for hours and listen to all of his stories. He is the living definition of perseverance. And his friend/trainer is helping him more than she probably realizes. So many elders die lonely and isolated. She's not only helping him physically, but also emotionally and mentally with their friendship, and all of their interaction, especially with the loss of his wife, and all that he went through growing up. This video was so inspiring and uplifting ❤
Thank you, George , you are truly an inspiration ! I watched this wonderful video and felt tremendous motivation to keep on doing my daily exercises . I just turned 81 and was beginning to feel sorry for myself for being so old . Watching you and listening to your wonderful story encourages me to keep on keepin’ on . You are now my role model , and I will keep you in my mind and heart as I do my daily routine , trying seriously not to complain or whine . Years ago kids all over the world were saying , “ I wanna’ be like Mike “ ( Michael Jordan, the immortal basketball master ) . Now I say , “ I wanna’ be like George “ . Then I realize . . . I AM George ! Time to get moving . Thank you for your wonderful inspiration , “ Tocayo” ( the name used for people who have the same name as yours , here in the Dominican Republic ). May you live as long as you wish - and I think you will .🙏🏽. George Lewis, Sr.
This is amazing. I have a friend who just turned 50 and all he talk about is how he is too old to do this or that while he smoke cigarettes and drink alcohol. Maybe the crap he put in his body is the real reason he thinks he's so old. Thanks for posting this guy is truly inspiring.
That resonates with me too. I remember when I was 49 and had some knee pain from dancing a lot, my friend who was the same age said 'it's all downhill from here mate'. I said a great big no and created my mantra 'I'm getting younger'. Since then as well as dancing at least once a week I have added lifting weights and daily walks and I am fitter and healthier now than when I was a teenage athlete. Sadly my friend, who smoked and drank a lot, is no longer around. I miss him a lot and don't judge him, he tried his best but struggled with addiction.
I'll pay high respect for this man! I would like to get so old and be so good and fit. Absolutely cool I find his style with shirt to cross fit, even there he shows great. God bless you
You are spot on Cristina. How unfortunate that in the USA we treat our Elders with such Little respect unlike the orient where the older you are the more respect you get as the young people know they can learn from you. Today, people scoff, put down, call creepy, hope they never see older people, send them to homes to die and get mad if they have to visit. So backwards. As is a lot of things but older people Made this country what it is.
To be like you Mr. Evans means I have at least another 34 years to live so thank you for the inspiration and great guidance to do so. Gonna keep Crossfitting, cutting out sugar but not sure about giving up my beloved butter! I truly hope to be driving, gardening, cleaning, cooking and caring for myself at 94.
Love that Welsh lilt.... takes me back to my childhood and my dads lovely “Welsness” my dad was from Abertillery emigrated to Canada in the 50’s... he died 14 years ago at 76.... I love this mans outlook on life, he’s so positive and inspiring.... his beautiful spirit shines through... I’m sure that icy water at Aberavon had something to do with your good health... 😳 I’ve only ever stuck my toes in there! Beautiful uplifting post ... Thankyou so much for sharing! ❤️❤️❤️
A real inspiration mate. Well done, yes age is just a number for sure. God bless, hope you have many more wonderful years, esp in keeping active as you are doing.
He has seen so much in his life and gone through a multitude of experiences. He is an example of how physical activity, vitality, mental health play an important role in his independence. He looked engaged with everything going on around him. His apability to perceive and understand his environment, at his age, was amazing. He had a sense calmness that often is difficult to attain, at any age.
Good for him for leaving sugar and salt alone. I can go without sugar for days on end, but it's the salt that gets me. Must have my salt. But I've learned to diminish it a bit by using other seasonings that I like, like garlic and thyme.
George hasn’t replaced salt and sugar, he has eliminated it. Not replacing it means he has found a way to enjoy food without that extra elation on his tongue. That’s what is inspiring, the negation of temptation, it s not a concern and no longing or craving!
He's not only sweet and fit but you can tell he's a good man. Another reason he's still going strong. He has such a positive attitude about life. He's seen it all and lived through a lot. He's such an amazing guy. His wife and his family must be really proud of him watching him from heaven. One of the sweetest things will be when they come meet George after he passes. He will finally be surrounded by his family and they'll never leave him alone again. God bless George.
#his motivation "i must look out for myself " - cause there is no one to do that #my motivation "My mom also took promise from me -please take care of yourself fo me at least. Love you mom "

Decades WITHOUT SUGAR, may be a huge component of Mr. Evans' longevity and fitness. This was most inspiring!

Try kelp flakes- great source of iodine with a salty flavour but NOT sodium
vinegar, lemon juice, or lime juice help too

Sugar is an addictive substance and makes you hungry, that's why corporations put it in everything or lie by putting a substitute.
