Ed. This is a bit of a long shot since you haven't posted here for some time, but I was just watching a Fletcher/Bassett final at Cairnlea and you as commentator mentioned that the wind at Cairnlea can cause problems with swinging which you said was especially a problem for you as you use a very long shaft and lightweight mallet. I'm considering a longer shaft and reducing weight from 3 lbs to 2 lb 12 ounces to ease croquet elbow pain. Can I ask, what is your mallet's weight?
When hitting the ball, do I : 1. Just look at the back of the ball to the area I'm going to hit or 2. Follow through over a spot in front of the ball, keeping your eyes on the spot for the follow through or 3. Watch ahead the line you wish the ball to follow? Hope help is on its way! Do you have a DVD of coaching material? Cheers and thx John
Hey John, I would do whatever works best for you, I was personally taught to look at the back of the ball and keep my eyes on that spot until after contact. I now do this sub-consciously as part of my stroke, however, i do lift my head to see the path of my ball quite quickly, which is potentially incorrect, I would recommend whatever lets you maintain a stable body position best through the stroke.
Thx Wilson. In relation to the grip, do I hold my hands , using the Solomon grip, at the top of the mallet? Cheers John PS: Do you have a DVD showing your shots?
This is the most interesting pivot ball video I've ever seen. Well done. Also it's awesome to see some AC videos online
Thanks Paddy! Time for a collab?
Thanks Ed. These are great videos. Big fan of the carnival music.
reminds me of Monty Python!
Thanks for posting Ed. Got a request - could you do a session on your favorite leaves.
Absolutely! Will hope to do something on leaves in the next few weeks!

Thanks Ed - very useful.
Nice, thanks for posting.
Great content, you need a camera crew to show the best of your instruction
Thx Wilson.

If you use blue red black yellow balls you audience could more easily recognize them.
