I love all of you. Thanks for watching/listening. This was just something I threw together because amazingly there was no Rob Eaton remaster of the Betty board of this show on RUclips. I wanted it for myself, too. And here we are. Never imagined these uploads would benefit so many people. Your comments make my day everytime I see them. Such a great fam. ♥️♥️ And of course thank you to the Grateful Dead for so much magic!
Nutty I don’t know what is was...9 years ago (?). But I stumble across an article that mentioned that this concert had been added to the National Archives...As a man in his 40’s I was caught in “no man’s land” when it came to the Dead, just what classic rock chose to play on the airwaves. I dialed up this video of yours, and with the blessings of them adding a lot of their live material on Spotify, you’ve sent me off on a beautiful long strange trip...forever changed. My kids are now 24 & 16 yrs old and have joined me at a few Dead & Co concerts already. Can’t ever thank you enough, much love! Dan
Sitting , listening to the music with my eyes closed . It's as beautiful now as it was the first time I heard it 41 years ago ! Captivating , soothing , Now i'm ready for the day . Thankyou !!
was at this show. sold out and no miracle tickets but you could hear the show from outside and we had one of the best lot nights ever. got interviewed by a local TV crew and scored some big, flat, gold buds(remember those?).
JEEZ!!! I thought (wrongly) that I was the ONLY ONE who call these two my "go to's" for my daily pick me up in the morning and evening commute. I guess we Dead Head's are all essentially linked through "The Heart Of Gold Band"
Great visuals, great version, listen to all these I can find and this is one of the best. Thanks for sharing the show. Love the moment Scarlet turns into Fire, hanging on the moment. Good day brother and sister heads.
I had a great seat in the bleachers above the NROTC offices, off stage left. Barton Hall -- an huge old stone pre-WW1 ROTC drill hall -- was rocking. It was my first, and it turned out, only, Dead show live. But I've played the tapes forever since. The audio is a lot better on recordings than it was live, but the music and energy (smoke-aided) was amazing.
Thank you thank you thank you tapers and posters! I never got to see the Grateful Dead proper, but I'm 100% there in spirit in the timeless space of the music. MmmmmMMmmmm...
Man, this Scarlet-Fire is just flying to new levels. Having listened to the boys for the past 30 years or so, I must say the jam into Fire is just picture perfect. Thanks for posting this! Take care and see you at Furthur if you make the West Coast shows. Be well, the tribe is alive and well!
ScarletFire has got to be my favorite duo. To me they are what The Dead is all about. These songs remind me of high school more than any other of The Dead's music. "There's a dragon with matches that's loose on the town Takes a whole pail of water just to cool him down"
Was there homey love peace and I enjoyed dead dc kittens and took them to Pittsburgh and I was gone never forget them but I disappeared like a puff of smoke!!! Living life like Jerry!!!!
Been a follower since I turned legal, first show at Holleder memoriial 79 through my last at Sam Boyd 95.. this is one of my favorite transitions betweeen scarlet and fire.Jerry is tighter in other versions but I never heard a bad version of scarlet /fire....too bad this gen doesn't get it musically, al they know is sampled, auto tuned crap....not that there aren't a very few worthy writers but they will never do it over the long haul, and will never live up to this type of live show, dancing with friends, party favors and just a damm good time...
+Critical MX My last show also was at the SB in 95, it was hot! Your right, the greats in Rock and Roll are passing away fast. A few younger rock group still remain but musicians and their equipment they use today are for the very lazy. Jerry will remain with me for every summer I live for.
truly nice wonderful long jams like this, thats the grateful dead. at a grateful dead show i was at i here a guy yeal out gerry is god. listen to this it hard not to believe it.
Kevin Rother Tell me about it. Was never a GD fan but someone sent me this particular version 4 years ago and I still play it at least once a month on Pono. F'n amazing.

Sweet HUH??? I was tripping on the sound modeling and technology for 1977 on this great rendition of fire on the mountain, but then i noticed it was remastered so i bet he added some midi to Jerry's track especially on the fire on the mountain jam... I liked it better when i thought they were 35 years ahead of their time....Actually they still were anyways besides this 1 factor.
tastes great, lesh philling. who remembers that??? one of the best shows, I loved seventies dead, but I hate Donna, her voice annoys me no end. sorry folks.
I don't understand the Hate Donna thing... While trippin' on L, there was nothing like coming out of Scarlet or coming out of a long Plain' jam and Donna coming in... It was a Firework ecstasy in my brain. There was nothing that could compare !
It's simple. Her voice sucks. Can't sing. And tries to ad lib when she sucks. Don't know how the dead could stand it. Also she was a documented husband beater. Physically and mentally abused her husband Keith who end up killing himself.
i dont get it .. but maybe im just too Brent-era oriented, with the musicianship & energy he brought, along with the bigger guitar sounds for Jerry and the 6-string monster for Phil..have heard of the legend of this one for so long ...sure its got that tight 70s sound ..but even then jerry screws up the last verse, and the transition jam is sleepy and pretty quick (Keith almost instantly begins banging out the stock B-A chords). Where's the development and exploration? To each his own, but meh
this is too far off the music but I have to say, at this point being Republican has nothing to do with Trump. I say that with respect and love for Republicans... but that's no longer any excuse for supporting Trump. You can no longer support Trump and be respectable really, no matter how you registered or who else you vote for or what your beliefs. Supporting Trump at this point is one of 2 things: either Un-american or totally ignorant.

Just tremendous. One of the epic jams of all time. Flows so well, nuthing could hold it back.
This is considered the greatest Dead show of all time; Cornell 1977.
A little Boy with a new heart wanted to hear this song before his surgery. Super touching.
Did he make it?

Would anyone believe me when i say I listen to this in the car every time i drive? Well, I do, and I have now for many years!! These are my boys!
This is my daily drive mix too! Its the perfect length! Its a great way to start the day.
JEEZ!!! I thought (wrongly) that I was the ONLY ONE who call these two my "go to's" for my daily pick me up in the morning and evening commute. I guess we Dead Head's are all essentially linked through "The Heart Of Gold Band"
1972 I know you rider.
this song just walks right up to your soul and pokes it
Garcia is awesome on this track. Great mix. Loved the seventies,
Betty Cantor was awesome on the board.
Sound Quality of this video is top notch!
Great visuals, great version, listen to all these I can find and this is one of the best. Thanks for sharing the show. Love the moment Scarlet turns into Fire, hanging on the moment. Good day brother and sister heads.
well considering this has been voted as the best dead show ever no surprise there....5 8 77 is legendary for every dead head.

This is wicked-pissah What can be better stoned watching cool graphics & this music is trippy, lifts me up.
Great music, and the video is supercosmicfantasticalextrabodacious!
Spectacular sound. Eternally Grateful.
Whoa. I opened my eyes and your videos are exquisite! ~~~ nice work, indeed. Thanks again.
agreed! my own preferences withstanding.....this totally soars!! what concerts should all be about.
Board tape or Audience tape....On you tube you can have either or both!
Kinda fun living here in the future.
Really, anyone who doubts the talents of the Dead should listen to this.
My favorite version of my favorite Dead tune! =D
It's damn good, and I agree, but check out the one from 4/27/77. Great video on here too!
There is so much from the Barton Hall show that I love, thank you for posting these!
Was there homey love peace and I enjoyed dead dc kittens and took them to Pittsburgh and I was gone never forget them but I disappeared like a puff of smoke!!! Living life like Jerry!!!!
one of the best ...jam of perfection.
Absolutely amazing sound quality
Lesh is more! Just learned that phrase. Loving this.
I used to have a t-shirt that said, in the best Miller Lite style, "Bass Great, Lesh Philling"
Best set ever thanks for posting,
right on man cheers
great sound and visuals!
Everything about that is amazing.
Best Scarlet-Fire ever
Thank you, really well put together.
I like Keiths piano here-its high up in the mix and blends with Garcias vocals.. Good old Grateful Dead.

Excellent
Nice work here all around .
Say, did you have Milkdrop set to random when you cap'd this or have you custom made these visuals? The one at 20:43 is mesmerizing.
I was at this show!
Kevin Rother You lie!
Nope. Its true.
Kevin Rother Tell me about it. Was never a GD fan but someone sent me this particular version 4 years ago and I still play it at least once a month on Pono. F'n amazing.

Love the visualizerrrrr...
Other people swear that there are better versions of this. Some even say there were shows as good or better in 77. If so, I have yet to hear them.

I've heard rumors about this show but I'm too young to know the full story. Comments from true Deadheads on this particular night in '77?

Who are the 15 who disliked? They must have voted for Trump.

Zbignew Crosscheck I voted for Trump. Grateful Dead are great and so is Donald Trump.
Jesse Snyder ... ok, until you find out the truths, which is inevitable with time my friend.
@@jessesnyder5426 Trump is great all right . The Greatest piece of crap ever to be called President!
