    23:20 Yep, I failed my test yesterday for that exact thing. I almost always ignore that arrow and only follow the traffic light even if I'm allowed to turn right. However, yesterday in the exam I decided to make use of it but i didn't come to a COMPLETE stop. The instructor asked me to pull over, it was a 4 minutes ride and failed it.

      Seems fair. Nothing personal, but this is the most basic thing in such a practical test.
      Imagine repeating the same mistake again and again in real life.
      The chance of you being involved in a car accident is very likely.
      It would be a pain in the az for you, for the ones who care for you, the people involved in the accident, those who care for them, for the insurance, the company, the government, ... the list goes on.
      Did you manage to get your license after 2 months?

    1:18, you have a priority only if you turn left. In this case, you moved straight but you did not check the right before left.

    • @mahvishn.1304
      @mahvishn.1304 3 года назад +2

      It wasn’t needed. While leaving a priority road, what matters is where the car is coming from and not where it is going. The traffic coming from the right wasn’t coning from a priority road so it had to wait.

      @@mahvishn.1304 Hello lady, thank you so much for your information. I have a question, and please answer me if you can. I have a scenario: I move to the big intersection, and I want to turn left. I see that I have a red arrow (of course, if it were green, I could move immediately), and I also see that the arrow to move straight forward is green. Hence I slowly move to the middle of the intersection for waiting until the oncoming vehicles (from the opposite lane) pass my car and I can turn left. However, I hear that the car behind me Bip Bip at me (I really do not understand why). My question is: do you wait and not move to the middle of the intersection until the left green light turns on and turns left? Or what I did was correct? Thank you so much for your time.

    • @mahvishn.1304
      @mahvishn.1304 3 года назад +2

      @@Nguyenthao-oj9ku hi, if the signal for turning left is red, the rule is that you wait BEFORE the signal (and not move to the middle of the junction). You move to the middle of the junction only AFTER signal for turning left is green. And then you wait for the oncoming traffic to pass (opposite traffic gets green light at the same time as you, and you wait for the ones going straight or turning right). As soon as you see an opportunity, take your left turn. At junctions where there is NO signal, you can simply move to the middle of the junction and wait for the oncoming traffic before turning. Furthermore, be careful that you move to the appropriate lane in time. If you’re in the wrong lane, for example in the lane that goes straight while you want to go left, it is not allowed to turn left. In this case you can only proceed straight ahead. In your described scenario, if you were in the lane that goes straight and then you stopped to wait before turning left, you did a mistake. In general, don’t worry about the honking cars. You have to ignore the impatient drivers. Remember that once they were also on the learner’s seat :)

    This was really interesting, thank you so much for sharing. One difference I noticed versus UK (other than the obvious RHD vs LHD) was that you have many intersections, where in UK we would have roundabouts. Evidently we really love roundabouts in UK 😅 - it seems they are not especially common in Germany?

    I have a question, at every single train track section, some are even on 70kmh stretches with no 50, still at 70. Do I need to slow right down from 70 to say 30 or just a smaller bit, I am struggling with train crossings. My instructor says (I THINK) look both ways and slow but in a 70 we still pass over it at around 60, is that right? I cannot see the difference in looking at 60 or 70, I am not going to be able to stop if a train is coming. It is so hard with not being able to talk with my instructor due to the language barrier, although he is great, it is a massive issue that I cannot discuss or even have any sort of conversation at all during actual events in my lessons, and I do not even have a talk about afterward, perhaps areas I am wrong in, or am improving in. Of course I do not expect or mean to moan that a German instructor does not speak English, I understand the problem and it is something I have to deal with until I have learnt German properly or at least to a higher level (I am trying to and fast) but the difference in being able to have a talk, or have something explained after or even before an event during a lesson and not having these things, is massive. Unfortunately this is the only school and they really are trying their best for me and are great, so I am by no means moaning about them at all, I just have to use youtube and some other help to answer perhaps some questions about driving that I have still. My questions are often silly, I am only on lesson 6 from starting to drive a manual car from scratch and obviously having seen everything so different than it is here in Germany as far as rules and signs etc, so I am still wondering things and getting things wrong that are perhaps extremely obvious to others (more experienced drivers)

    • @hovawartfreunde4599
      @hovawartfreunde4599 4 года назад +2

      It's a curb that is sunken so pedestrians and cyclists can pass. They are also curved and not a straight line. I don't know if you speak German but my driving teacher used to say: geht der Kantstein rum, guckst du dumm- if there is a curved curb you have to look out like a stupid (for cyclists). It's always right before left. So if there are no signs you have to give way to any person to your right. If you have the right of way there will be signs.

      Its not well indicated at this point coming from that direction, but as he came from the other side he saw that this was an oneway road. Maybe the roadsign was visible, but not in the video with this limited point of view.

      The traffic lights were off so that the "Give right of way"-signs came into effect. No one was coming so he was allowed to just go.

      The traffic lights were off, thus the signs are followed, which indicated a normal give-way.

    Hello, I have been going through this video for my driving practice and has helped me a lot.
    I have a question when there is a stop sign but no hard line i stop near the stop sign and again while entering the road at the junction.
    I failed my exam as i stopped near the stop sign and only slowed down before entering the lane.
    Thank you.

      Thanks for sharing your experience Edden, is it necessary to stop at both places? or stopping only at the junction is enough? It seems redundant to me to stop 2 times.. I have my driving test in 3 weeks time. Could you please explain a bit more?

    • @eddenthapa9436
      @eddenthapa9436 4 года назад +2

      @@halmatmohammedamin7882 Hi Amin..So as per rule if there is no hard line you need to stop near the juntion look both side and move ahead, but if you have a hard line you need to stop first near the hard line and again near the juction to make sure there are no vehicles. Once you have a clear way you can proceed. Hope this information helps :)..All the best for the exam..I passed mine tooafter 2 attempts

    • @halmatameen9658
      @halmatameen9658 4 года назад +1

      Thank you very much. Indeed, this helps a lot. I thought one stop at the hard line would be enough. Thanks for correcting me

    • @cg909
      @cg909 Год назад

      @@halmatameen9658 Theoretically it should be enough to stop at the marked line. But because the phrasing in the StVO is a bit ambiguous, it's often recommended to stop once at the marked line and once directly before the junction where you can oversee both sides.

    Hi @12:51 why doesn't the car on the right have priority?

    • @mate5791
      @mate5791 4 года назад +2

      There was a drop kerb which means that there is no “right before left“

    • @walterwhite28

      @@mate5791 What? Can you explain it? Never heard of it.

    • @mate5791
      @mate5791 3 года назад

      @@walterwhite28 Lowered kerbs usually exist for private property entrances or reduced-traffic areas, so it’s more reasonable to give priority to the cars on the main road. But many German drivers don’t know about that rule so you should still be careful in these situations, even though you have priority.

    • @mate5791
      @mate5791 3 года назад

      If you watch the video slowly you can even see the back of a stop sign in that road, to make sure everyone remembers that rule.

      @@mate5791 Look bro, I am from India and we don't have such kind of rules. Or much better to say we don't have rules at all. But, I want to do my MS from germany. So, I was worried what if I don't get your rules and even if I managed to get a driving license, what if I somehow break the rule? Would I be fined 2500£?

    14:14 That's not a Kraftfahrstaße. That's a AUTOBAHN! (maybe a Autobahn is also a Kraftfahrstraße. I don't know the precise definitions)
    Edit: (or maybe I'm just wrong idk)

    • @jaycee330
      @jaycee330 2 года назад

      There are two types of high speed roads, the Kraftfahrstrasse, which is a road that prohibits low speed vehicles and has a minimum speed of 60kmh, and the Bundesautobahn (which people call 'Autobahn' for short) which is Federally controlled. Only federally built controlled-access highways with certain construction standards including at least two lanes per direction are called Bundesautobahn. The Kraftfahrstrasse, for example, could have uncontrolled access roads connecting to it, whilst the Bundesautobahn must have controlled exits and entrances (via slip roads). Also, the signs indicating the turn to the road were yellow backed (whereas Bundesautobahn indicators are blue).
