So as the sands of time run down to the end of this magnificent Formula 1 season, we come to chapter 22, and the chance for Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton to be the writer of their own story. Each has one hand on the championship trophy. Both have the opportunity to realize their dreams. We know this is the final chapter. The end of an epic battle that has captured everyone’s attention and emotions. What we don’t know, is how this blockbuster ends. It’s winner-takes-all. Welcome from the Yas Marina Circuit. Scores level, 58 laps ahead of us before the chequered flag waves goodbye to this brilliant season. And it’s a season finale on a modified circuit. This is the hairpin at turn 5, the chicane before it is long gone. We’ve got banking now at turn 9, where once upon a time we had opportunities to overtake into a chicane. And we’ve got a much faster end to this circuit as well. A maximum speed of 200MPH but your about 100-120MPH through turns 12, 13 and 14 where we’ve already seen cars brush with the wall and bang against them in the case of Kimi Raikonnen in Friday Practice. Pirelli have brought with them for this final round the softest compound tyres in their range. It is the C5, the C4 and the C3. The hard tyre thought to be a very good race tyre, neigh the Red Bull pair of Max Verstappen or Sergio Perez have run it so far this weekend. Lewis starts on the Medium tyre, Max starts on the softs. Here’s the grid then for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Max Verstappen on pole for a second year in a row here, Lewis Hamilton along side him, an 11th front row start here in Abu Dhabi. Lando Norris his best qualifying since pole in russia starts 3rd ahead of Sergio Perez equalling his best qualifying here in fourth. Carlos Sainz will start in 5th his best ever start here, Valtteri Bottas down in 6th on his final start for Mercedes. It’s Charles Leclerc starting 7th for Ferrari alongside Yuki Tsunoda in 8th and Esteban Ocon in 9th alongside Daniel Riccardo who sneaks into the top 10. 11th goes to Fernando Alonso, missed out on Q3 by twelve-thousandths of a second. He keeps Pierre Gasly company. Lance Stroll in his 100th start for Aston Martin is 13th on the grid ahead of Antoinio Giovinazzi who waves goodbye to Formula 1. Sebastian Vettel starts 15th ahead of Nicholas Latifi in 16th, Latifi out qualifying his Williams teammate George Russel on his final appearence for Williams before he goes to Mercedes. Kimi Raikonnen in his final start in Formula 1 is 18th. Mick Schumacher all on his own in 19th, Nikita Mazepin not racing after testing positive for COVID, we send our best wishes to him.
I've watched a lot of F1 when I was a kid during the late 2000s and early 2010s. I took a hiatus from F1 as I didn't had any way to watch from where I'm from and also kinda lost interest. I only came back to watching F1 full time again in the 2023 season and I wished I've came back earlier to witness this season. Even though I've never experienced it live, watching this alone still gave me goosebumps. I envy all who managed to experience this race when it happened

If I knew Brian Tyler composed the Transformers Prime intro song back then, I'd put it over the intro as I watched it live. It'd be even more badass than it originally was.
Great intro, allow me to translate what the spanish broadcaster said it was equally epic. “Welcome to the last dance, welcome to the last race, that because of things of destiny will be the one that decides everything. After more than six thousand kilometers and more than a thousand laps of competition all will be decided in the last 300 kms. 58 Laps to know who will be the champion of the most challenging, polemic and thrilling season of the last times. It’s been 50 years since the last time 2 drivers reach the last race tied in points and 14 years to find such a brutal tension between rivals to the point that the fanbase has grown and divided supporting each of their drivers. It is the law of sports some will win and some will have to bite the dust, any small or big detail will decide the champion. If lewins wins, it would be an historic day, he would capture his 8th title and pass Schumacher. If Max wins it will be his first title, he will become the 34th F1 champion of the world and the dutchman would have ended and era. He will have put and end to Mercedes crushing dominance of the sport. Enjoy what comes next!
It was absolutely beautiful, I had crazy chills when I frist saw this, truly made me recognize the fact that it was an exceptionally important season of Formula 1 and it's a shame I couldn't savor it more, it was absolutely amazing
When the point gaps came up I was so fucking hyped, they never do recaps like that, it made me think back to when people were saying F1 didn't need a theme music and when into that part I was like " no way, they're playing the whole thing !!! " lol
I'm sorry but this race reminds me of cars 3 when Cruz beat Jackson Storm to win the Florida 500 and I'm glad Max verstepen won the championship against Lewis Hamilton
You know what, im gonna say it. David "crofty" croft is THE best commentator of formula 1, like you think theres so much to say and not emough time to say it, but crofty somehoe just finds the words to put it all in, in the best way. I know the others are good, but imo crofty will always be the best, and nobody will ever change my mind
Very maybe 2023,now that everyone probaly understands the 2022 regulations. Everyone should be closer together. Redbull Ferrari and mercedes to find a way to the top

Why do we allow more than 1 team manage by the same people? Mercedes and Williams? Red Bull and Alphatauri? Ferrari and Haas? Is the same as Barcelona B plays in the same league with Barcelona
Out of those teams that you mentioned only RB and AT are owned by the same company,Mercedes is owned Mercedes(obviously) Williams is owned by a private invesment firm Dorilton capital,Ferrari is owned by Ferrari and Haas is an american team owned by Gene Haas
Still one of the greatest intros in history, I’m glad I woke up early to watch history being made

A true masterpiece of an intro by Crofty
The goosebumps when Crofty says "Kimi Raikkonen in his final start in Formula 1"...

Counting days to new season still far away 😭

That is such an incredible intro, for the finale of an epic season.
Liberty Media has done a hell of a job hyping up the Verstappen-Hamilton rivalry for 2021!
watching this before the Qatar 2023 GP

It's a shame this amazing season is over :(
Yeah, 2012 on the Turbo-Hybrid version. 😉
Also a shame how it ended
the best intro !!!!!!!!!

Only for the intro, after that he can go and pleasure himself. But the intro... Yeah that is on another level.
I completely forgot this addition to the opening. Nostalgic though.
Such a brilliant intro, shame this season has been so one sided to have no drama like last season.
