The thing that holds me back from trying out a hurdy gurdy is not the difficulty, not the price (okay maybe) but the fact that you need an enginering degree to tune and adjust it and stuff xD
For me it's Definitely the price 🤣
I would love to play one but yeah the price and I can't play an instrument due to my brain not working to good.
Just play it out of tune and add some pedal effects.
With your accent every time you say "hurdy gurdy" it's so satisfying lol
Hurdy Gurdy is absolutely the coolest instrument name out there. It's so much fun to say hahaha
True that! :D
It very irritating sounds some one should make best song with it then it work
Have you ever see a kazoo
I like saying the GHB,S in a manly voice lol... and they have less guts than this beast
Always hot girls playing these things though ... love to see her and patty
The moment she said I played with a band called Eluvietie...
It's subscribe time!!!
I had the same reaction!
Adjusting this thing sounds like working on a carburetor
Lolllll truth
That's a Murica' sounding analogy if I ever saw one! Lol
I figured this instrument was complex but after this explanation, this is beyond complex! So much going on at once!!
I don't own a hurdy gurdy and i can't play it, but I love your music and your part at Eluveitie. And although I love the way you say "hurdy gurdy" 😊. I saw Eluveitie this year at the area 53 festival in Leoben /Austria. Since this time I am a great fan of you. Good luck for your future 🤘
Wow! I learned of something new today
i'm really fascinated by the hurdy gurdy: from the music it makes to its inner workings
Thanks for the information about that elegant instrument.
I'm a Turk, we have some set of authentic bowed instruments like Yayli Tanbur, Klasik kemence, Rebap, Iklık, kemane vs. Some of them originates from central asia and some of them created in Anatolia, mostly in a simplistic way. But that instrument, hurdy gurdy. Is it so sweet, technical and practical :) And has nice drone tones.
Loved it!! 😍
❤️❤️❤️!
x2 😍 Und liebe sie ❤️
i too
Thanks for the explanation of this marvellous instrument...even more complicated and technical than I thought!
Suuuuuuch a fascinating instrument... I first heard it in the Black Sails theme and was enamoured with how different it sounded.
Best explanation in relative detail on the internet I have found for this amazing cool ancient instrument. Live your style playing and the instruments you folks are producing look to be top shelf. I may be purchasing one in the near future.
This instrument is amazing!
Loved your explanation of this unique instrument.
I've been trying to figure out how the trompette strings work and this has the closest description I could find. And up close slow motion would be interesting as a detailed video.
I was very curious about this instrument, and you explained very well! I have to say the Hurdy Gurdy is much more complex than I thought... it's fascinating
Thank you for making this. Will be building my own later this summer.
Amazing video- this is perfect for those of us who want to know how it works. Thank you!
Thank you so much for creating this!
Very nice video. Seeing how it all is supposed to work was interesting to me. Just an engineer at heart loved seeing this.
Really cool video! I’ve been listening to your group and love you all. Very fascinating video and will continue to watch these! Thanks.
I don't play hurdy-gurdy, but Michalina's tutorials are really useful and interesting. Thank You, Michalina!
YOU'RE THE BEST!❤ Thanks for everything Michalina😘
Thank you, anytime!
I just learned what a Hurdy Gurdy was tonight when your System of a Down video showed up in my feed. That was pretty incredible. I've watched it four times now. I was curious about the instrument and this video explained very well exactly what I wanted to know.
Excellent instructional video!
Kudos! :-)
I'm now a fan.
Awesome Video! Thank you for the very detailed explanations!

I'm happy you enjoyed it and that your doubts disappeared! :) ❤️
Najlepszy instrument jaki widziałem :D
Very interesting. At the end it is something like accordion under cello base. Is complex and beauty, something hard to maintain! Love this instrument.
really a beautiful video
Awesome, thank you...
👍😀♥️ I like your explination. Basic and clear.
Amazing instruments!
Well explained....thank u...🖤🎼🐾
Fantastic instrument and passionate person nice to listen

Polka. W Eluveitie.

Good Lord! Looks like tuning is so complicated it would be hard to find time to play! Great video.
✨🙏🏼 awesome ✨
two days ago I bought a hurdy gurdy to ancestor and It is going to come on december!!! 😍
Nice! I’ve wanted one from years but haven’t got the money. Enjoy your hurdy gurdy 😉
Lucky man... ^=^
This instrument is complicated however the one who make very good song with it will become more popular famous good business
Questions? Where would I start? I honestly never knew this instrument existed before today. Produces a unique sound, and you certainly play it very well, has to be said.
You are so fantastic! So hard instrument :)
Thank you so much for your video, Michalina... ^=^

Thank you! :)
Watched this whole thing and the only thing I got out of this was: It runs on black magic.
Can you talk more about the sympathetic strings? How they vibrate? Amazing.
ok you've talked me out of getting one, thanks! XD I play a dozen instruments already including 10 string Chapman stick, these wonderful machines are too high maintenance for me, I'll just enjoy hearing other people play them.
Thank you for explaining this instrument I never even knew it existed till I seen a video of your playing rock songs on it. What a cool instrument it is, is it hard to learn to play?
Thanks for the explanation. I’d still like to hear how the individual strings sound and how does the cranking speed affect the sound, especially if you move thr crank very slowly. Would it work remotely like the violin does?
Ale ten nowy album Eluveitie jest swietny!!
Dzięki! ❤️
Wow. Clicked on learning more about this instrument, instead learned I've been saying Eluveitie wrong all this time.
Wonderful and very useful too! I want to learn how to play and where I am (western Pennsylvania USA) I know of no one who could teach me.
Thanks for the nice, in depth description of the instrument. Is the number of melody strings limited? Also how does the Hurdy Gurdy compare to the Nyckelharpa? I love the sound of both instruments.
Ну, это просто ахрененно!
I just cant imagine the situation when someone invented this complex thing And started to show it to people: ”what is it called” And the first thing that pops in to his mind is: ”Hurdy Gurdy”
Ничего не понятно, но очень интересно 🤩
Great Michalina!
BTW. You looks beautiful
Hurdy gurdy is not an instrument I would play seriously but I'd like to try someday
Metal!! \m/
Szczegolnie te momenty gdy slychac hurdy-gurdyxd
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Hi, does the wheel move freely like a back wheel of a bicicle or it have the same angular velocity as the crank? love from Brazil
Hello! The wheel doesn't move on its own, it's connected with the crank. :) Cheers form Poland!
I love the sound of this incredible instrument. But unfortunately, it's almost impossible to find it here in Brazil.
Excelent video. What Is the most common tuning of each string? Thanks
Thank you! :) For melody strings G and C/D, for drones G and C/D and for trompettes G and C/D too. You can check out here for example: ruclips.net/video/kgNJAlzQ2xk/видео.html
That is an instrument I find very interesting and appealing. I am writing High Fantasy, and have a character, a wandering princess who plays music. Originally I had her play a magical violin, then added a magical electric guitar and had her use one or the other depending on her preference. Now that I know about the hurdy gurdy, I think I am going to replace the princess' violin and electric guitar for a hurdy gurdy, it looks more exotic, more magical, and also very complex in its construction, as something only nobles and royalty would be able to afford in a fantasy world. Where can I learn more in depth about it? Any place where I can chat with musicians willing to aid a fantasy writer? Any features or add-ons that would be more likely seen in a hurdy gurdy designed for a solo musician? Thanks :)
🤪🤪wow! And I thought a guitar could be difficult!
Bylem na koncercie Lacuna Coil w Glasgow i mega zaintrygowal mnie zespol Eluveitie. A teraz jeszcze dodatkowa eksytacja ze maja czlonka z Polski i to na jakim instrumencie! :)
Im going to play this thing im a cellist un think their going to be good friends. Where do you recommend to buy one?
Where and when did this instrument come from?
I just like the name
Hi How much cost is this instumental thanks and mpavo to your music
Жутковатая конструкция у этого инструмента :) Но когда о конструкции рассказывает такая красавица, да еще так обстоятельно - все кажется проще и легче :)
What about the 'sound box'? (sorry I know nothing about musical instrument terminology) The violin and the acoustic guitar have distinctive body shapes and 'sound holes' that contribute to their overall sound. What governs the shape of the Hurdy Gurdy? And does it even have any sound holes?
There is a lot of versatility amongst the shapes of hurdy gurdy, the most popular ones are lutebacks and bodies similar to acoustic guitars with flat backs. Same goes for sound holes, some of them are based on the same shapes as the violin ones, some are round with ornaments inside and there's a lot of shapes in between. :)
Ничего не понял, но было интересно))))
Не знаю как ты, но я думаю она русская( ну или украинка)
