  • In March 1940, Decca records release The Wizard of Oz Cast Album. Judy garland was under contract to Decca and recorded only 2 songs for the Album, “Over The Rainbow” and “The Jitterbug” no other cast members were on the album. The rest of the vocals were done by the Ken Darby Singers.
Here is a stereo version I created which includes “if I only had a brain, if I only had a heart, if I only had the nerve, and the quartet version of “We’re off to see the Wizard”. I created the stereo Sound by having the original track on the left channel and extracting the orchestra and putting it on the right channel. I also used clips from Harold Arlen’s Home Movies of The cast showing Ray Bolger, Jack Haley and Burt Lahr.

Judy Garland actually recorded the two songs Somewhere Over the Rainbow and The Jitterbug from the movie in 1939 when she was 16 for Decca records. Great job in sync with the movie and behind the scenes of the classic 1939 movie The Wizard of Oz! Judy Garland first recorded the beautiful Academy Award Winning Song Somewhere Over the Rainbow and all her vocals in 1938 when she was just 15! Judy Garland was 16 during the entire filming of the wonderful 1939 MGM classic movie The Wizard of Oz!

@@pattibrooks1907 According to one of the books I have about the making of _The Wizard of Oz,_ she liked to learn three new words every day.

@@pattibrooks1907 She got along well with Bolger, Haley, and Lahr, and always pumped them for jokes, because she loved to laugh. They were happy to oblige, though there were some jokes that they thought were not fit for her young ears!

That was brilliant Tomy. It must have taken you ages to sync the entire thing! A real technical achievement to be proud of there! Well done! Excellent! I wonder why they got the Ken Darby Singers in the record such an important cast album? I wonder why Lahr, Haley and Bolger were not brought in to the Decca Studio's?
