I live 2 hours from his hometown and I had a similarly poor childhood so I felt so happy to see him thrive both at club level and national team. He's a humble guy that uses his money to help kids in his town to have a future studying, playing sports and stuff, he goes back home regularly and walks barefoot on the streets, play ball with the kids. He deserves the world but, I know premier league and national teams are no joke. Hope he regains momentum, he's a good kid.

as a brazilian, is very sad to see richarlison's situation. actually, is the synthesis of what is able to happen with our boys from the hoods that, suddenly, get large amounts of money so fast. is just hard to see how the world cup has been his prime, but also, how he gets coursed in that competition

This second half of the season debatedly has to be his best ever, 12-17 goals, or he has to go to make room for a more consistent player. It's not that people forget about Richarlison. It's that people never rated him in the first place.
He is one of those players that is the very definition of mediocre (which isn't bad per se, not everyone can be a Suarez, or Kane), yet, for some bizarre reason, he keeps getting put in the spotlight like he belongs in the big league.
He isn't Spurs level, and he absolutely isn't Brazil level. But he somehow gets pushed into it, and he just doesn't belong. It's not a crime, everyone has a cap they can't go above. He should have stayed at Everton, absolutely. It was far more in line with his skills, and he would have ended up happier.

The irony is he'd be perfect back at Everton right now as a second striker or on the left. He's a Dyche player. Works hard, presses well and he needs to be at a club where he's loved. It's pretty well documented that he was forced to leave Everton because of the financial pressures we were under and didn't want to go. The way it's turning out for him is sad. He's never going to be world class but he's a top top player at seemingly the wrong club.

As a spurs supporter I’ve never thought he’d be good enough. There were issues with his attitude at Watford where he played well for half a season then downed tools when he thought he was too good for the club, got the move to Everton as a result and was always hit or miss. He thrived off confidence but when he wasn’t scoring he was just an extra shirt on the pitch.
Don’t get me wrong I hope he finds his home and wish him well, but when we signed him I thought at best he’d be back up for Kane, and now he’s gone, he’s not good enough to start still.

Hey Liam, can you talk about why major footballing nations like Spain, Italy, Germany and Brazil, despite having talented players, seem to have a dearth in quality centre forwards? Cause when you look at them, Spain had Villa, Raul and Torres, Italy had Totti, Toni, Inzaghi, Del Piero, Germany had Klose and Brazil had R9 and Adriano. Now it seems like their best players are in other positions. The likes of England and France have very little issues in that regard but for the football nations I mentioned before there seems to be an issue in that department

One, who was giving the speech at the start, that was genuinely so good, I couldn’t put my finger on who it was, sounded so familiar.
Also: To be honest, Richarlison isn’t a big name realistically, I don’t consider him to be world class like other prem strikers, he doesn’t even get in top 10 strikers in the prem for me.
Gonna be realistic, I don’t know where he’d go if he left, Because after spurs it’ll probably be all downhill in terms of clubs I feel.
Maybe he could play for a side like Roma, but even then I don’t see him succeeding

As an arsenal fan, this guy at everton and watford used to terrorise us. Especially those times when arsenal were doing bad and not as good as they're doing now. He was a bit of a wind up merchant and thats what got me and a load of other fans at other clubs, especially liverpool, to dislike him. Then he moves to spurs for the fee that he did the same summer transfer window as jesus did for arsenal. I'll never forget mfs were comparing jesus to him and saying who'll be the better signing blah blah blah and it was so satisfying to see him be so underwhelming. In my opinion, richarlison at his best is a good striker, he's the type of player that plays for teams who aren't the strongest team in the league but every season they'll always have a couple memorable results against the big teams. And everton in 18/19 was this team and richarlison was a huge part of it. Spurs was obviously a step up and I feel like having kane ahead of him last season limited his game time so he had to compensate out wide which didn't quite get the best of him. This obviously had a huge impact on his confidence and add the things we may not know whats goingo n in his life off the field. I feel like richarlison can get back to his best but i feel like at his best he is just a good striker.

His arrogance was the reason for this turn regarding his perception by fans, at least here in Brazil

Honestly, I think Richie might be ok. I think he is gonna come back and be ok. Hot take, but I think Richie plays really well on the wing where Son used to. He can dime up his teammates like no other.
Now, I understand given his price tag he should do more. But I think he can do great. I don’t think he is ever going to be the same kind of player he was at Everton. But we don’t need that. He doesn’t need to be the primary goal scorer. He can be a secondary option. And he’s shown he can do that. He can assist, and again, when he does, they are BEAUTIFUL assists. He can still score, and he brings an energy. And who better to be a dad manager than big Ange.

I think the main problem is, people put a heavyweight that he didn't ask for
He's a decent player for mid table clubs, good substitute,
A nice option to have around, but he's not a top 4 main striker level
People hyped him up and expected him to match that when he didn't show anything prior to that and didn't give indicators for it and didn't want it in the first place
I honestly don't hate him, i think he have a good trat to get under opponent's skin, distract them...a spirit of shithousery and a bully that every team needs
Ps: i believe spurs playing him as a striker or on the left didn't help and absolutely killed any hope for good performances he might had, specially at Everton he was really good at being put on the right wing and then cutting inside and playing closer to second striker from the right (in fifa terms, he would have a yellow exclamation mark with -7 overall)

  • @dex1lsp

Well, I think he heard you! Good job! Seriously though, I really like how you respectfully highlight the real human aspects of players that we too often forget, including their mental health and the fact that they might experience hard-hitting events that impact both their private lives and their performance. So many of us know what it's like to have a harder time at work when our mental health is faltering, or following a tragedy.
I also totally agree that the hate against Richarlison (although it has quieted down as he has finally hit very good form) has always been badly misguided. He's been quite oddly treated like a player who did something horrible or is generally a nasty and unlikeable person, which is absolute nonsense, and I do agree with those people who point out that prejudice is likely a factor in that. Sadly, that phenomenon is still all too common when a player of colour has a streak of bad form. It may be more fully out in the open in some other countries, but too many British fans are guilty of that as well. He doesn't deserve any of that baseless drivel!

As a Spurs fan, I think there are many reasons for Richarlison not working out for us. Here are some of my thoughts:
    1. I think he has lost confidence especially after playing under Conte who he had a bad relationship with.
    2. I think that he didn't get enough game time with us due to us having a world class striker in Harry Kane.
    3. I don't think he has played in the position that suits him the most as he has played as a winger a lot when he plays well as a number 9.
    4. I think that the huge transfer fee of 60 million has also put lots of pressure on him especially with his poor performances. In my opinion, this has led him to lose confidence in himself and even caused mental health issues.
Anyways that is just my thoughts, feel free to disagree with me.
