@@XR4turbo Good point :) in the Cayman the Airbox sits 30cm behind the driver's head - With the stripped interior and the BMC filter it is quite nice - but you need to wear ear protection for long drives ^^
Nice lap, very aggressive and brave! :) I'm thinking of getting a 987.2 and setting up similar to you with KW's and Manthey geo. Car seems very busy and unsettled under braking? And 7:08 - yikes, you did well to hold onto that, but surprised me it reacted like that. Car does bounce around a lot, I guess it's lighter, but I also wonder if the damping might be a bit too stiff for the nordschleife? And perhaps that's what's making it so busy under braking.
Thanks :) You watched the video very closely :) the impression of bouncing is partly due to the camera setup... Sorry for that... But it's true that I have a setup which is a bit hard for the Nordschleife. I especially asked manthey to set the car up for wider F1 tracks and not for the bouncy NS. But overall it still does the job extremely well on the NS from my opinion. Under braking the car is extremely stable, it's just that I did a driving mistake at 7:08 :) In fact I wouldn't mind the setup to be a bit more oversteering on brakings. Overall the kW suspension and the manthey setup really amaze me so far! I'll get some Michelin Cup2 later this season to get all the potential out of it
Have you watched the clip slowed down at platzgarden? I quickly switched it to half speed, you literally downshift as your going over the crest but dropping your right hand to change your left hand turns the wheels as it becomes light, Well caught though! I feel like its the trickiest part of the circuit due the the crest and minimal time fore the turn in point on the next corner.
@@tobitetdebit2330 There’s a group of us in 987’s going in 4 weeks time, All have cars setup slightly different so going to be interesting how we all find it. @Mark_Meisho_Thompson late season nordschleife :) sounds great! For me the driving season is over :) You will have a blast in the cayman. One advice: take it easy in the first few laps. The track feels very different in a >300hp car! I personally needed to adjust my driving and habits quite a bit when I drove the cayman the first time there

Thanks a lot :) maybe I lied in the description and I do have a full exhaust and 360 bhp... ^^ No just kidding :) Everything is 100% stock exept for the air filter. It is loud because all the sound deadenings inside the car are stripped. I wanted a good sound inside the car without beeing louder on the outside (to pass noise restrictions on certain racetracks). Thanks M. :) I am running Federal rsr pro tires with the same tire size as a cayman R. They are not the best in performance but they do a good job for their price range I think. I struggled a bit with pressures at the beginning and ended up with 2.05 bars (warm) front and rear. This way I could drive a few laps without overheating them.
@@944turbo Pflanzgarten was a dumb driving mistake because I try to be fast without knowing the car well enough. I braked right before the jump, it loaded the front axle and lifted the rear axle - and that did not go well with the "rear" engine layout. Next time I'll brake earlier a go back slightly on the gas before the jump I guess.
Hey Tobi, I’m torn between the 987 S or the e46 m3 as a dedicated track car what do you think? Ive never owned a Porsche but I have had an e46 325i and e90 328xi but I would like an M car or Porsche.
Hey man - cool dilemma ^^ the objective answer would be the Porsche. Better balance better brakes and lighter car. However you also need to consider what you like more because fun is more important than lap times :) the e46 has a unique engine and the front engine layout allows a more "freestyle" driving. If you do go for the cayman make sure to get a 987.2 for more reliability
@@VanguardxGaming then I'd recommand going for the m3. The 987.1 is a great road car but as a track car the engine has too many weaknesses imo. On the e46m3 just pay attention to the rod bearings, they need replacement after some time.
@@VanguardxGaming Maybe one more tipp: for both options e46m3 and Cayman you will need quite a large budget to get the car 100% track ready. Another very good and wise option is the Toyota GT86 imo. It doesnt have the power of the two others but has one of the best handlings ever and can be very fast on tack. If you get a late GT86 facelift with optional brembo brakes you can track the car with no mods and have tons of fun for way less money than the 2 others
Oiling mods should not be necessary with the facelift 9A1 engine. Engine cooling looks ok so far but I haven't tracked the car on warm days yet... The breaks could use a bit of cooling, especially in the rear. So I'm installing brake ducts in the rear and gt3 brake spoilers in the front.
Yes I specifically wanted a 987.2 because I wanted to track the car. The old M96 engine did not seem reliable enough for track use. Also I must admit that I originally wanted to buy a 996 carrera :-P
