Check out the vacuum booster video on these I have one with 180,000 miles and this and the battery are the only things that broke so far unfortunately the battery went dead on the road and I needed a jump start. The car is a 2017. If you shift to L6 it disables the auto stop feature and it drives a little nicer. The brakes are easy to change but the bolts are huge compared to all the other cars I’ve worked on but easy to change comparatively
Just wanted to say thanks for the vid. Did my spark plug change a few days ago on my 2016 chevy malibu limited lt. The boots sit on the backside but same process. The screws for the boots were 10mm. Here is what I used: 14mm magnetic and flexible socket on extension -- spark plug removal T30 torx -- key for removing engine cover 10mm socket -- remove boot/coil Bosch Double Iridium Spark Plug 96301 -- x4 (these are also pre-gapped) God bless and thanks again man 👍

@@johnbrian118 I honestly have no idea, I think it was one of those thing where as a girl/women most don’t know about cars/mechanics and they’ll literally say anything to you but I found later down the line U couldn’t go past 40 mph w/o it failing/stopping it was scary. My brakes went out on me going down a hill. I have a 19, Nissan Altima now 😌
I might be al little late here but my spark plugs aren’t turning (loosening nor tighting) any ideas they don’t look stripped. But they won’t grab. I’m not mechanical inclined btw so any help is greatly appreciated!
Just reached the 60k on my 2016 Malibu never had a tune up just oil changes and tire rotation what all do recommend at this point I know changing spark plugs needs to be done what else tho ? Thank you
At 60K we usually recommend and do the transmission drain and fill , Spark plugs & the regular maintenances (Oil change and Air filter) & I recommend cleaning the throttle body as well , carbon buildup & some oil get in there and can cause the check engine light turns on for it .
@@reneantonio91my throttle body looks pretty clean except for oil in it. I was gonna use CRC throttle body cleaner but the can says not to use it on turbo engines. What do you think
It shouldn’t mess up , I forget the exact mileage interval but it’s between 50-60 k miles when you could do it , that’s when we do it in my shop & spark plugs are around that mileage aswell
My engine light came up and the engine starts to vibrate a lot when I put it on park or it’s on drive on a stop light. It’s losing power and the idle keeps moving. I’m guessing it’s the spark plugs and coils . What do you think? Great video by the way. I’m going to do it tomorrow .
@@reneantonio91 same is happening to mine same year I have 36 k miles on it . Imma take it to auto zone and get a scanner hopefully it's just the spark plugs . My car stabilitrak came on with engine light. At idle is vibrates and it so It feels deeper sense I'm straight piped
gr8dfender a regular 14 mm spark plug socket would work fine but to answer your other question , it’s not my vehicle but usually they get about 22-24 mpg around where I live since I live in a city/urban area so the mpg are a little lower than a person who would drive on the highway a lot
@@alexandrews6391 she does keep the auto off engaged. To update: I changed the plugs. Put a K&N Air Filter in car. Cleaned the Mass Air flow sensor. Replaced the PCV. And ran one full tank of 93 octane with a Seafoam added. The mpg has improved to 28 now
@@gr8dfender742 Think MAF sensor cleaning probably did it. Some don't recommend K&N filters for commuter cars because it does let more air in, but it also let more contaminants get sucked into your engine. I use WIX engine air filter. Recently also used CRC valve cleaning spray right into air intake. Get right around 30 MPG in LA traffic/highway. 16 Malibu LT.
@@dualprocess1754 yeah that and the downstream also goes bad sometimes too , the downstream is kind of a pain to do but upstream is pretty easy , 22mm o2 socket to remove from exhaust and then there’s the connector under the engine cover

You could’ve put bad spark plugs , make sure they are the correct spark plugs and also are in good shape and don’t have cracks . There’s been instances where the spark plug was damaged and they were fresh out of the box
The car manual says it take ac delco 41-153 but they no longer sell them now recommend 41-156. Also the gap on the 41-156 says it’s set to 1.3mm. But the 41-153 are set at 0.7mm. Is that the issue?

Hello , The car has decent space inside and comfortable but it does have problems with noise from the suspension (Front sway bar bushings & rear knuckle bushings) and the AC o-rings leak . The Malibu’s I work on are 2 years old and I’ve seen the engines and transmissions messing up already but they are also taxi cars so maybe the are abused by the drivers too . I think there are better more practical cars that can last longer my friend

I changed the plugs.

so you don't have to replace the coils?
No you don’t. Unless you have a Misfire and after diagnosing it , you determine one or more of them are bad ; you don’t need to replace .

I would only remove one coil wire at a time, or label each one, so as not replace the wrong wire on the plug.
I think this ones are kinda hard to mix them because looks like the wires will not reach to a different spark plug
