One of the best piano teachers on RUclips. Invest in some better editing/thumbnail/production stuff to get that popping smooth look and your views will fly up. As insanely good as the quality of this content, the editing style still feels quite makeshift, no problem to me, but to attract more viewers and hit the “algorithm” you might want to spice up your thumbnails etc
FANTASTIC lesson, very much needed. All too often we focus on speed and playing a thousand notes a minute. Nah, playing FEWER notes but with FEEL is what draws people in, particularly when we play ballads....
One finger snap...Really timely for me. I'm working on "The Very Thought of You" and man, it is a challenge. Such a simple melody but long, held out notes and repeated melody notes really demand a patient, focused attention in order to bring out the emotion. Your suggestions for dynamics and phrasing is a big help. Cheers!
Err, is the "one finger snap" a password? I watched this, as every other video, right through. As usual, a very informative video, and well done as usual. You certainly put light on the piano, and the extreme difficulty of making it sing. Taking away the accompaniment shows the enormous difficulty of giving this instrument vocal expression. You have come shining through, as always. Thanks for sharing your rich knowledge.
One Finger Snap. Thank you, Jeremy, for this tutorial. I learned/became aware of so much as vocalist that inspires me to refine my Ballad approach. ⭐🌹😎🌹⭐
Hi, Jeremy. Quick question: in this video, and the video about improving rhythm for ballad improv, which ballad style are you using? It’s not exactly what you define as “quarter note ballad”, as you are not maintaining the pulse with one or two inner voice(s). Btw, I have been struggling with stride ballad. I can grab that tenth now, but my biggest issue is getting to the next chord in time, my playing sounds hesitant and choppy. I am working on this with my teacher, also re-watched your stride ballad video. It helps to first get comfortable on a tune with shared hand voicings, but I think my main issue is still chops or lack thereof, and having to keep looking at the keyboard to find where I want to go next. Any additional suggestions?
3:28 That's such a kid's thing, to want to parody the lyrics in an exaggerated manner. Well, I'm not a kid. But you know what? I still kinda giggle at the idea, and I think that sort of playfulness is missing from a lot of old people music (I mean music that's not made specifically for kids, but if I write "adult music"... yeah). Maybe it's a bit like the "vibrant" setting on your camera, and you don't want every show to be like Victor Borge... but maybe a LITTLE more tracking the lyrics wouldn't hurt.
Aways deeply grateful for everything that you do. It is But Beautiful…
I'm honored. Thank you!
Fantastic! Appreciate that you’re willing to sing despite your misgivings! it really helps

You’re totally right and yet I appreciate that he’s putting more attention into the music and the message than the medium.
Thanks, as ever. Always lots of helpful points in your lessons. Really appreciated.
I'm honored. Thank you, David!
Very helpful, Jeremy. Thank you.
My pleasure, Stuart! Thanks for watching!

One finger snap! On one of my favorite songs!😂
Could you do a video on playing isn’t it romantic in a slow swing? Or ballad?
🙏
the inner voice movement is pretty.
Thank you! But none of it matters if the melody doesn't sing.

One finger snap times two!
One finger snap! Great tip, Jeremy. I totally agree. Consciously try to play lyrically, sing the instrument… 🤓
We all have to think like singers whether we sing or not!
(& 1 finger snap!)
Wooo!
😮😅😅😅 thanks a lot
Thanks, Mai!
👌🏾 Dope video! Really enjoying your content. #YupYup
Thank you so much! It's not the sexiest/flashiest video, but these things are what separates the mediocre pianists from the really good ones !
Thanks for that. I got some things there. One finger snap.
1 finger snap 😊
Thank you for watching!
One finger is snapping! Ow.

That’s true! A little playfulness can be fun sometimes!
And a 1 finger snap
Thanks for watching, Joe! See you in class soon!
Who was your teacher? Because it seems Barry taught everyone else. Are you NY based?
