I love the band Shudder to Think, and I love Bowie, and I dig this movie. What’s funny is, the rest of S2T’s music sounds NOTHING like this. And yet it’s a testament to what great musicians they are that they could pull off such an impeccable Bowie pastiche. Also, the existence of this song sheds a really interesting light on the rest of their discography, highlighting just how much “glam-rock” was always hidden in plain sight in their adventurous, fractured hardcore jazz-pop songs. Especially in Craig Wedren’s effeminate and operatic vocals. I mean, here, in “hot one,“ he almost sounds like a completely different vocalist. I’ve never read the credits of this song, but I’ve always assumed that it actually is Craig Wedren singing, and that he was just able to put on a different kind of character for this tune. But if I’m right, and that is the case, it’s pretty amazing how much he was able to change his voice up. It’s a great performance.
When I was young... like 5-6 (mid to late 80s)I had a re-occuring dream where I flew over a park and everyone looked up at me. The opening to this vid is very similiar.
Well you're the grand one Have you noticed When you walk in, all the fairy boys are Pale and nervous Well my starship doesn't want me And neither does this world I'm glad I caught you on my view screen, Sailor You're the grand one Come and court me Cause this wooing is what I'm wanting When my spacesuit comes to warm me And hold me like a god I am the captain of the gravity, Maxwell Everywhere I see your faces Hot one From my starship over Venus to the sun But it's a crime! Your mistaken! A momentary seizure of love Oh, love Well you're the grand wild But darling, I'm a mess I've got to humanize my wrinkled form But the boys are not impressed When my spaceship comes to orbit Just hold me like a girl I'll be the captain of the gravity, Maxwell I see your faces in the strangest places Hot one From the starship over Venus to the sun But it's a crime! You're mistaken! Momentary seizure of love Hot one From a starship over Venus to the Sun But it's a drag! You're so mean! Destroying my belief in, in love Oh, love
@@atlan_tyda I’m not sure, lol. But Oscar Wilde is actually a character in this movie. As a little kid. And even though he’s got a small part, his influence on people is a long running theme in the movie. The brooch that almost all the characters had at one time was originally Oscar’s. Also, that’s where Curt Wild’s name comes from.
@@Dank-Hill hah, thank you, I remember the film quite well (and besides that, there was a whole character based on Oscar Wilde - the second Slade's manager, who enters the movie looking like Oscar with his costume, hairstale, sigar and Wilde's words on his lips. (Quite rough interpritation for me, but it's ok)). Btw Curt's name still seems so random. But I was kinda interested in other movies, besides the ecranisation, inspired by Oscar.

Bowie said "no" to his recordings being used - so the producers were forced to get some original songs composed leading to this superb this of music.
I Wonder why he didn't want to, his music fits perfectly, but instead like you said we got some great tunes.
Quetzalcoatl83 I believe it was based on an unauthorised biography or something along those lines, so Bowie said no
And thank goodness
Glad he said no. The music they used is perfect.
I love the original songs ...
Velvet Goldmine: Visually and musically sumptuous.
bring tears to my eyes, everytime, I wish the piano sections were longer..
Put this song into my veins all day every day 🤩
Amazing soundtrack for this movie❤️❤️ the lyrics sound like they were written by Bowie himself!
actually written by Angela Bowie

Orgasmic song man. Such a perfect movie
This is such a fantastic song
Such a strong song. I was checking the band that compose it and ironically nothing is good as this.
Great song. Amazing film

The quote at the beginning is Oscar Wilde
Beautiful isn't it?
A lot of the movie is related to him.
@@Dank-Hill just interesting, what other movies were Wilde inspired?

this could be a song from Bowie
Momentary seizure of love= orgasm. I love this filmmmm.
where are my gays?
More Jobriath than Bowie
Yes you' re right.
I' ve almost forgotten that dude, was a short career.
I’m a man would have been superb in this film

They thought that an Irish lad can’t sing?
This is better than most of Bowie's glam shit.
This is nice but as far as being better then Bowie, Aladdin Sane is so much better.
This is actually based off bowie
He's the glam icon ✨
This is exactly ziggy stardust in '72
@@_sebylyk_9270 But with better sound.
Although Ziggy Stardust sounded great for 70' s productions.
I'm getting the feeling that this could be gay .. , but I might be wrong!
