Legendary poet Shakeel Badayuni had compiled its memorable lyric As per story line of this film : Dilip Kumar & Madhubala are both advocates of the Civil Court.Dilip Kumar plays the role of advocate Amar Nath in this film.Madhubala's father is a very rich landlord.Dilip Kumar's late father was his very good friend.He sends Dilip Kumar to England for his higher studies for Bar-at-law Course. On return from England, Dilip Kumar,too, joins as advocate in the local court. Dilip Kumar is engaged to Madhubala.They both visit the temple after their engagement. Dilip Kumar resides in a rented house.His cook prepares his food.Nimmi is a village girl.Her poor father is bedridden.Her step mother wants to sell her to a goon, Sankat (role played by actor Jayant whose real name was Zakaria Khan.In real life, he was father of actor Amjad Khan -- Film Sholey's dreaded dacoit Gabbar Singh). Nimmi adores Dilip Kumar like a devotee adores God.She always feels secured when she is with him.She supplies milk to Dilip Kumar's cook daily morning. One rainy night, the goon Sankat is dead-drunk.He sees Nimmi all alone.He starts chasing her with the intention of rape.Nimmi runs and reaches Dilip Kumar's house at dead of night. She knocks at his door frantically.Dilip Kumar opens it.She holds him in a tight embrace to feel secured.He brings her inside.Under weaker moments, they have a one time sex. Eversince this incident, Dilip Kumar feels reluctant to enter the sanctum sactorium of the temple.This fact is very aptly described in the various stanzas of this serial song. Nimmi gets pregnant due to the single sex encounter. She refuses to disclose Dilip Kumar's identity to anyone.In fact, she leaves it entirely to him to accept her or not. Villain Sankat doubts Dilip Kumar's role behind this episode.He starts chasing him whenever he finds him alone. Nimmi kills him when she sees Sankat holding a dagger and chasing Dilip Kumar frantically ! Finally, to save Nimmi from certain death at gallows , Dilip Kumar admits in the Court why Nimmi wanted to kill his own murderer. He himself admits impregnation of Nimmi. Later on, we see all three in the temple.Madhubala takes off the engagement ring and necklace from her own body and returns these to Dilip Kumar for Nimmi.He passes on these items to Nimmi before the sacred idols of Bhagwan Krishana & Radha. Nimmi falls at Dilip Kumar's feet who gladly accepts her as his wife.
