  • In this session, we will worship the very special Nama ‘Chidagni Kunda Sambhuta'.
In the last 3 sessions, we worshipped the first 3 Namas, starting with ‘Sri’, namely Sri Mata , Sri Maharajni and Srimat Simhasaneshwari. So, the next question is, where did this Divine Mother come from?
This Nama tell us that the Divine Mother emerged from ‘Chidagni Kundam’.
If we carefully observe, this Nama does NOT just say ‘Agni Kunda Sambhuta’ meaning someone who came from an Agni Kundam (a fire place where Yagna is done).
Vasinyadi Vak Devatas, very specially prefix ‘Chid’ to the Agni Kundam as ‘Chidagni Kundam’.
    Chid means ‘Jnanam’.
One who emerged from the ‘Jnanagni’ of Pure consciousness.
The ‘Jnana’ that comes only through Meditation and Vicharana!
Sri Kanchi Paramacharya in His lectures on Soundarya Lahari describes that this ‘Jnana-Swaroopam’ of Lalitambika is the ‘Aho Purushika’ of Parameswara!
So, what is this ‘Chidagni’ and how is it different from an ordinary ‘Agni Kundam’. That’s the essence of this Nama!
In order to understand that, we will go to 'Lalithopakhyanam', which describes the story of the Maha Yagna conducted by Para Sambhu and how Ambal manifested from that Chidagni.
In Arya Dwishati, Durvasa Maharishi helps us to visualize the location of this Chid Agni Kundam.
Sambhuta means Sampoorna Avirbhavam, from this Jnana Agni Kundum.
Our Purvacharyas classify this Nama and the next as ‘Prakasa Swarupa Namas’. We will try to review why Chidagni Kunda Sambhuta is a Prakasa Swarupa Nama!
