Hey small question; Is it worth damage boosting a bap? I know he does alot of DPS but- You'd be sacrificing your own ult charge so... your other healer gets their ult quicker.
@@plat4663 this is very situation dependant but like she said. There are no bad dmg boost targets. When bap is shooting at a pharaoh and no one else needs heals go for it
Yer but you need to play index finger on bumper rude, finger triggers or run paddles for Guardian angel. Some of us is missing half of those fingers lol
I finally found a comfortable way to play her on console. I don’t think it’s optimal but idc: thumbs for walking and looking around, index finger on the bottom of d-pad for crouching, left ring finger for l1, my leg for l2, index finger on triangle for jumping, middle finger on r1, ring finger on r2. I find using my leg for resurrecting quite innovative if I could say so myself
I completely rebound her on console just to make her constant GA super jumps more comfortable. For anyone interested: R1: heal R2: dmg L1: GA L2: jump X: rez O: melee L3: weapon swap R3: crouch
For the Ana anti-heal nade, I apply the same mindset with Junker Queen’s ult. It’s also why I like Kiriko since I can just throw my bell after Ana makes a fat anti-nade or Junker Queen makes her big anti-heal dash.
I have a slightly different approach where I actually do heal with mercy while the anti-heal is still active. My reason is that I am not tracking how long the nade still lasts (there is already so much going on) and sometimes allies just get hit by so much, that when the anti-heal ends it heals them a little bit earlier and might be just enough to save them. I have that situation frequently.
it lasts 3 second the anti, so maybe you could boost for 2 sec and at the last one switch to heal to instantly go back to that, being conscious about may be difficult at first, but youll improve!!
As a mercy Main, when I am the last one standing and it’s overtime, I highly recommend instead of just tryna run around like a chicken with your head cut off trying not to die, instead use your teammates souls to bounce back and forth on the point because it gives great maneuvering skills and it will highly benefit your team who is trying to Rush back in
Idk if this is mentioned in another video, but another great mercy tip about jumping during guardian angel is that mercy can do more than just fly in the direction you are looking when you press the jump button. Idk about side to side, but if you hold backward during the jump, you will fly backwards very quickly. This can be great for flying with guardian angel towards an ally in the middle of a dangerous teamfight to get in beam range and then quickly getting out of danger; i've used this many times during 5v5's and it's definitely helped me save multiple teamfights without taking a huge amount of damage immediately.
I love mercy over any other support, I've watched a lot of guides to refine my skills as mercy. Thanks for making guides, these guides helped me get to platinum on console. ❤
My Mercy gameplay improved by a mile after the first time watching this. I'll definitely come back to this video whenever I need a reminder. Also the animations are amazing!
btw, regarding the ult charge of damage boost, I did some tests in OW1 and found that *both* heroes get full credit for the extra damage in their ult meters. This means that amplified damage effectively counts for *twice* as much in the ult economy as damage you or an ally do by themselves.
Remember Mercy is a prey animal and should always be looking out for danger. That's why I love playing her because I can take stock of the battle field better than I could as other heroes.
A good measure of when a teammate is healthy in most scenarios is around 60%-70% health or higher. Using this can allow you to open up to dmg boost as well as learn how to juggle beams more. Obviously this is depends on many variables such as team comps, focus fire etc. but getting comfortable with juggling beams and dmg boost will increase your APM and usefulness.
Thanks! I played tf2 for a long time and mained medic so when my friend wanted to play overwatch with me I was stuck because I had no idea how to use any of the characters. Mercy's mechanics is the only one I'm somewhat familiar with since it's close to how medic works. This helped so much!
Well, I've extracted 3 key points from this: .Abuse the 1.3 secs when your beam stays attached to an ally when out of range / line of sight .Don't use super jump unless you need to reposition .Hold down damage boost and tap healing instead of the other way round And it worked, and I'm now Gold 2 with Mercy
Finally got my golden mercy gun today super happy about it, been playing mercy since ov1 and I like that her super jump is an ability now it was a lil hard to pull of sometimes on ov1
Hey Niandra! Note for the holding down damage boost then tapping healing tip. I learned about this tip from you maybe a year or two ago? I’m a console player it is AGONIZING to hold the bumper down for so long. I switched my heal and damage boost bindings around so I hold the trigger instead, and it’s really comfortable like that!! So this IS doable for console, we just need to switch bindings to not break our hands. Great videos, always looking forward to them!!
Great video! I often use the Lucio switch but I always worry about mercy being taken too. I usually pick mercy at the beginning and wait until 5 seconds left to switch to Lucio then back.
this really helps me when i play mercy! The tip where you hold down damage boost and then click heal when team needs healing is great, please make more videos like this.
I've been playing Mercy a couple months after getting into OW2 with my friends. I had no idea about dashing in the direction you're looking, it feels so basic I'm kicking myself for not knowing. I did learn a really niche tip though. Junker Queen heals when she does damage with the wounds she applies with her melee, throwing knife, and big cut thing. The damage of wounds is boosted by Mercy damage buff, but so is the healing she gets. So by damage boosting her, and telling her to throw in a melee every now and again, you can boost her damage and heal her extra, meaning you can switch to damage boost much more often
These were really amazing tips, thanks a lot! Makes me want to try her out. O always thought she has a pretty unique play style almost like a mini game of being evasive and not dying differently than kther characters in the game. A lot to consume but will try them out slowly.
Have 1500 hrs on mercy and had a literal road hog screaming at me for using damage boost instead of heal when he's half... literally would use his own heal while I healed him lol... said I should learn the game you can't make it up
never knew u could hold down ga while rezzing! gonna use that for sure! anddd resetting rez cooldown is useful much more often now that you keep any ult charge up to 30% 👀
There are so many wonderful tips in this! Going to watch this again later to let it all stick in my mind. So excited to use these tips in an actual game.😊
our moira called me rlly good in the vc and i realised she was the ONLY person ive received a compliment from in both ow 1 and 2 LMAO, dmg boosted coalescence was juicy tho
Having no self heal ability can be so painful, I hope they bring back her healing passive to how it was in OW1 for some reason that extra half second really threw me 😂
i am like a freshly brand new overwatch player, like started playing maybe 4-5 days ago. I've been mostly doing damage but I wanted to see what mercy was like and thought I might be better at that. now i'm doing my research 😎😎
7:30 though you should try to start healing just at the end of Valk ult for that extra heal boost while the beam is on that target. Atleast until it breaks
1:54 I feel like this can be summed up in the advice of: your job is to help your team win the fight, not to heal them. there are games where there are healers, where the role or category is called "healer." wow is a good example of this. being good at the healer role in wow means knowing your spell rotations so you can pump out the most healing per mana and you can keep your tank and dpses alive as well as knowing when you can get away with lower cost healing spells and just save the higher cost ones for when you REALLY need them. and generally, you only contribute damage when everyone is more or less full. in most scenarios like raids, healers are not doing much except healing for the entire encounter. overwatch is not like that. overwatch is a different kind of game. the role is called support. healing is one of our tools, but it's not the main or only tool. support is about helping the team win the fight. it's not "heal heal heal and only when everyone is full, do something else" just because you can heal doesn't mean healing is your only or more important contribution. and just because someone is missing hp and could be healed doesn't mean your #1 priority is to replace the health they're missing
I do want to push more damage boost, but my cowardly heart always makes me go with healing. It also doesn't help that I don't trust the other healer in my team that much. If the other healer has generally low healing, like Brigitte or Lucio, I tend to focus more on healing. I usually try to damage boost during Valk though. I can't do superjump rez consistently, so I have been doing a poor-man version of it. I superjump first, then fall down until I am in rez range then start the rez. Don't know how much it helps though.
I also just learned something crazy about mercy. But her pistol scales based on the maximum health on the of the character she’s shooting at so if you’re being pressed by a tank whip that thang out and Start blasting you’ll melt them
Even if it was reserved for 30th so not a lot of people saw it, thank you for explaining the power of the new directional mercy jump cancel. I know it's also a matter of getting used to and preference but I've seen so many people say mercy's ow2 movement is worse than ow1, meanwhile there's so much potential with it and allows you for so much flexibility that is now easier to access, but requires just as much skill to utilise correctly with maybe an even higher value ceiling.
I find what you say about damage amplification interesting. I use damage amp equally with healing and in my best game I get 30 assists but I only get 1k damage amplification which is 1/3 of the goal I should reach. Does damage amp matter more than the assists that I have contributed? I get usually 51% damage amp and 49% healing by the way.
this made me realize I have a horrible habit of pressing heal when ana grenades my team, idk why I do it- its like a reflex I could be damage boosting and then grenade makes me instinct instintively
Instead of strictly a number per 10 minutes, is it worth looking at the % one on the side? I tend to average 70% dmg beam atm, with a 1k per minute output across all abilities (Dmg, Dmg boost and healing. I know its weird for me to group them together like that, but thats just how I've always approached it). The % statistic is significantly larger and easier to read in my experience.
Just pullout your pistol and play battle mercy, use your teammates only as a mere mobility tool and maybe to grind some ult, but you must always remember that you're dps(also try to persuade your Anna to nanoboost you whenever you ult, ez kills)
Console player who had to sacrifice my ping wheel for the key bindings I prefer. Worth ditching the reload button entirely on her and just using the beam switch instead so I can utilise the pings?

Is that what Mercy's are doing at the higher ranks, or are they putting out even more damage boost on average?
I am not a super high rank, just low diamond, but I also have 60 to 40 ratio (in general, different games can go differently depending on many factors, can be 70-30 or more like 56-44 or so, but heal beam usage is never higher than dmg boost usage)
