• அன்றில் பறவை.:அன்றில் என்ற சொல்லுக்கு ஒன்றை விட்டு மற்றொன்று பிரிந்திராது என்று பொருள்.அன்றி+இல்=அன்றில். இந்த இயல்பு நோக்கியே நம் முன்னோர்கள் அன்றில் பறவைக்கு "அன்றில்"என்று பெயர் வைத்தனர். ஆண் அன்றிலும் பெண் அனறி்லும் ஒன்றை விட்டு ஒன்று பிரிந்திராது.பிரிந்து வாழாது.பிரிய நேரிட்டால், உடனே கூவி அழைக்கும்.இணைந்து வாழும் அன்றில் பறவைகளில் ஒன்று இறந்துபட்டால்,மற்ற அன்றில் பறவை தன்னுயிரை மாய்த்துக் கொள்ளும்.தூங்கும்போது கூட ஒன்றன் மீது மற்றொன்றின் பார்வை வைத்தே உறங்குமாம். இதனை நளவெண்பாவின்"ஒரு கண் ஆர்வத்தால்-அன்றில் இன்றுணை மேல் வைத்துறங்கும்"எனும் வரிகளால் அறிகிறோம்.
About Glossy Ibis
Long, curved bill. Adults are mostly dark with iridescent green and reddish tones. A very thin white border surrounds the dark facial skin. Dark eyes. Usually gregarious, it is found mainly in salty marshes and shallow wetlands. Unmistakable in most of its range, though American birds are best distinguished from White-faced Ibis by distribution and facial pattern.
