Took my oldest son to Nashville yesterday for the MCB. We both hoped for a good game and to see Brady Cook walk off the field a winner in his final appearance as a Tiger. What a great day. Thank you, Brady Cook. You are the perfect example for my 11 year old son, who also has big dreams of being a Tiger one day.
So happy for True Son Brady Cook! Gave his heart & soul to Mizzou! Exciting game! Typical Mizzou nerve wracking game! Very happy it was a total team win (offensive, defensive, special teams). Yes a few glitches or errors…but I think it is challenging to be a month out of rhythm! Iowa was big & fast - good win! 🖤💛🖤🐅🏈
Cook is da man! A shame he wasn't healthy all year. He was beating teams with a bum ankle & later adding a broken wrist. Dudes a dawg. Gonna miss having an STL kid at QB1 (& at WR1). If we had a team made up of just Missouri kids, we'd be a top team in the country. He did us proud. Brady Cook for mayor!
Marquis has been my favorite WR for 2 years. 50/50 balls, back shoulder throws, fades, go routes, etc. Guy does it all. Just chuck it to him. A star in the making.
@@pdot5534 He was hurt all season. He even missed a few full games & was only playing special teams. No reason to risk further injury when you have Burden, Wease, Mookie, Manning, etc.
Been great experiencing the season with you this year John. Brady cook coming back from the hospital game? OU 4th qtr game with a backup? The SCAR final MIZ drive? Music city Bowl two 50+yd fgs to win it? What a ride. Happy NY!
One of the things this game did was reinforce for me that we're going to be really good again next season. WRs were awesome. Adding Coleman to the mix. Got good QBs coming in. Great RB. Great Edge rusher. Tollison & Green back. We can finally see the UGA DL kid next year. Young guys ready to take a step up. QB battle in spring should be interesting. The OL worries me a little bit & the DBs need to take it up another notch next year. Love the team & the direction they're heading in. Future is bright. MIZ!
Brady achieved his ceiling as an athlete at Missouri. It is inspiring and frustrating at the same time. The team was poised for more this year, but it just never materialized due to Cook’s injuries and limitations. Cannot fault Cook for maximizing his opportunity though. His heart and work ethic cannot be questioned.
John thanks for the great job you did this mizzou FB season. I see a real good team again next year hopefully a CFP team I think the Tigers now at the point of not being a rebuild ever year but a reload team.
I am a MU alum and have been following Tiger sports fo 60+ years. Great win for for the Tiger players and the Tiger Nation. With that said, "In my humble opinion" I believe you gave Coach Drink a pass on his "exhibition" comments leading up to the bowl game. Coach also eluded that winning the bowl game was not a big deal and if we lose we'll just pack up and start working on 2025. I believe in the age of NIL and the transfer portal fans talk about loyalty to school and programs. I think Coach Drink's comments disrespected not only the bowl and the Hawkeyes but also our great university, but especially the players that stuck it out with the program and made this game very special. Over reaction ? Maybe, but it really stuck in my craw. MIZ
@rodneycampbell2978 Or maybe it was Drink being Drink to get IOW too think we weren't taking it seriously. Drink does play games. Smart move if that was what he was doing. Also could be he's exhausted from the portal & focusing more on getting us ready for next season so maybe the message was just, we're focused on next year which is more important right now. It looked like the guys were locked in & so was Drink at the game. He looked very happy to win the game, & would have told JWJ, Wease, etc. to sit instead of playing hurt if it didn't matter to him.
We've been a 2nd half team or a lot of times a 4th qtr team for 2 years now. Half time adjustments? Better conditioning? No idea why, but I'll take it.
IOW has an NFL punter & believes in their def. Ferentz always plays super conservatively. It usually works for him bc he plays in a run heavy conference. It's his Achilles heal.
One thing I'm worried about with Pribula is that all of our productive QBs in the pask 10 yrs were 1 Syllable names that ended with K's. Mauk, Lock, Cook. Even Franklin & Bazelak had K's in their names. I don't know about this no "K" slavic name guy. lol.
Locked on Mizzou (John Miller) 1) Thank you SO much for your analysis & reporting! Loved listening to you & getting informed! 2) White helmets - ha! Loved the BANDS - always ask for more Mizzou band vs sound system (want to build tradition use your BANDS!). 3) Happy 2025!!!!
Great win. Great season. We got to see what a healthy Brady Cook can do. If Wease hadn't gotten knocked out prob would have scored more. Also had Norfleet been able to play, he absolutely makes that catch over the middle. That one WR that had that late catch, I was like who tf is that? lol I thought I knew almost every players name, especially the skill position guys. Highlight of his career. That catch by Marquis was dope, way underthrown, then a back shoulder catch right after. JWJ playing injured. Crazy... That play by Flagg at the end... Loved Drinks comments & the players talking about getting rid of the toxic guys(I wonder if that's why some of the transfers left). Love our coach. Great back to back seasons. MIZ!

@JMFBizzle Be happy to make another trip around the Sun. Hopefully get to see Miz crush the Beakers at Home, win the games they ought to and finish out strong on the road to close out the regular season. Those are reasonable goals, if achieved a Playoff berth and run is certainly on the table. Good things are happening in CoMo. Great time to be a Tiger fan! Best to you and yours. That was the most entertaining game of the bowl season. That crap Hawaii Bowl doesn't count. There is zero excitement when the stadium is virtually empty.
On the basketball front... Great to see Grill back. Robinson is sick? We need him back. I just looked at our schedule. Every team is either undefeated or 1 or 2 losses besides SCAR. The schedule is absolutely brutal. 18 games. If we can go just 9-9 we'll be 20-11 and make the tourney. 9 teams are ranked, 5 are in the top 10. I think our team is amazing & we beat KU who is ranked 7th, but the schedule looks scary...
@LockedOnMizzou Yeah. We need to play like the KU game all season. Honestly we should have beaten ILL. Shooting 38% & 23% from 3 killed us. I still think we win if Warrick is in at crunch time taking 3's instead of Mitchell & Pierce. He's got a beautiful stroke.
Caleb Grill is back!!! That guy is the glue this team needs. Diving all over the court and like coach Nutt said after the game his rebounding is a huge difference. Really happy to see Perkins take charge and make some really aggressive shots and dunks. Pierce getting the start made me happy as he has earned it. I have said it many times but Warrick needs more court time. Such a smooth scorer. MIZ
100% agree. Warrick has to play more. I think Gates saw that Grill dive on the floor & saw enough. Young man you almost got paralyzed a few weeks ago, you've got a seat over there on the bench with your name on it, lol. MIZ athletics is really bringing in the old school give it your all Larry Bird/Brett Favre type mentality. That's how you build championship teams. MIZ!
Hi John. You're young so it's more than understandable, but for all us coots who were in school in the 80's And saw what the ACC and Big East was top to bottom in those days, well, it was mind blowing. And the Big 8 was no slouch either. Congrats to Brady! Love the podcast.
First of all, it's nice that you think I'm young. I remember 80s basketball. As far as what the "best league ever" is, I'm mostly passing along what others have said. I've watched every second of Mizzou this season, but I can't say I've watched a ton other college basketball at this point. Also, it's mostly a statistical argument, and it's about the sheer size of the conference. Firstly, starting in the late 90s, the general public started getting a lot more access to better basketball stats. So most of the comparisons of overall conference play vs. other conferences starts then. Secondly, the Big 8, for example, which was absolutely incredible basketball to watch in that era, without a doubt, was only half the size of the current SEC. There simply aren't any bad SEC teams right now despite there being 16 of them. Whether you buy those arguments or not, that's up to you. Regardless, the main point is, the conventional wisdom says the SEC is the toughest conference in America this season. So if the Tigers go 9-9 in league play, they'll easily be in March Madness. Just trying to give context for people. Thanks for listening!
Bet MIZ, MIZ & the over, Manning/Wease/Johnson to all score TDs. Cook over 200yds passing. Did well. Frantically drove to ILL to place my bets. I ran out of time or I would have bet more. Thanks for the Manning pick, should have bet the mortgage. lol
@LockedOnMizzou My uncle told me yrs ago I'll take luck over smarts any day. And he was very lucky but not so smart. At least he was smart about that saying. lol
Do you know anything about the prior toxic stuff Cook & JWJ were talking about? I never heard anything about that. No bad exit interviews. No drama or scandals. That was a bit puzzling for me.
I think that was the perfect ending for Mizzou legend, that's right, I said it, Brady Cook. Gutsy win over a tough defense when nothing else was really clicking. 2nd all time in wins as a Mizzou QB, 3rd in passing yards, 10,000 yards for a career. All the Brady haters can finally go shove it. Now Veach needs to add a couple more million to the stadium renovations, and get some statues made for LB3, Brady, and Schrader. Also, shout out to Johnny Walker and the rest of that defense. Looked completely lost that first half and then in the second half, they put the clamps on Iowa. 24 yards allowed the entire 2nd half and only 3 points. I'll take that everyday of the week.
Another 10 win season, i cant wait to hear all the crying and bitching by the good ole boys in the SEC who still say the tigers dont belong, or that they always have an easy schedule. 🙄🙄🙄 lets win at least 11 next season lol 😂
