Good morning, Mick Thank you for this video. Your green house is amazing! I wish I had all those plants. I hope you have a wonderful week. Aloha Gerald😊
@@MicksMasdevalliaorchids Yes it does. Im waiting in hope of a second series of the War of the Worlds tv series starring Gabriel Bryne and Elizabeth McGovern . First season was shown earlier in the year over here, but I've read they have only just started filming again.
Decent size plant! I have two of them which are a bit smaller. One of them has problems pushing new leaves out of their sheaths. In some cases, I had to give them some help. Any ideas on how to tackle this problem?
Unfortunately Martina there are several masdevallias which struggle to release spikes / leaves from the sheaths all I do is provide more humidity around the plant even if it’s a tray of water filled with stones and stand the plant on it.
Thanks Mick. I planted it in spaghnum and it's in one of the orchitops. Actually, I have noticed that when I keep the spaghnum a bit more moist, it's better. Not so easy in winter when temperatures are cold. I might try a tray of water with stones as you suggested so that the spaghnum is not too wet all the time!
That is different. Looks like legs sticking out of a hole. I think it's very pretty and I like different. Looking into how I can send you Spanish moss. It cost 50 dollars for a Phytosanitary certificate and 6 dollars fee. I don't see where there is any other fees, besides postage. I don't know how much you pay in the UK or how much you get. I can really pack a box since it is so light. Can you check and see if there are fees in the UK? I believe the certificate last a year. Also, have to mail as residential not a business. Let me know.
This massy is so unique in its shape, it looks like an insect emerging from the sheath of the stem. Thanks for sharing Mick.
Some weird shapes Margaret, thanks for taking a look.
Just beautiful 🤩
I love this variety of Polysticta it just bursts out of the sheath with the most amazing colour. Simply gorgeous Mick.

@@martinafaust4851 it worked for me, I’m fully aware of sphagnum moss and it’s problems in winter.

I'll respond via email and I'll cover costs early next year.
How much does one of these go for in the uk plant centers?
Between £18-£22 from on line sellers.
