Soldiers from the Army Reserve’s London Regiment have been building their mortar fire skills on Salisbury plain. The Mortar Platoon of A-Company fired more than 200 live rounds in day and night exercise. For some, it was a chance to refresh and develop their skills, but for eight of the reservists, it was a test to complete their cadre and qualify with the 81mm mortar.

Memories - I trained on the L16 as a mortarman in the Canadian Reserves back in the '80s. Glad to see a new generation appreciates how light and easy to carry it is.
Brits have one of the best armies in the world, albeit a shrinking one.
*FIRE MISSION!!*
Love the videos!
Welcome home 😂
Fancy seeing you here!
Nostalgic to see those old hulks on Salsbury plain. We of the Royal Anglians were lobbing 81mm at them back in 1989.
Great work
Now moveing away from 81mm and over to 120mm Nato. done this course like 4 times lol
Strange question- why did the MOD move from the 3 inch to the 81mm, why didn't they change the "greenies", to hold 3 mortars each like they used to? after all carrying 6 mortars at a time of 3 inch vs 4 of 81mm per person. yes i understand the slight weight difference, but there is a known volume issue of getting the mortars to and around the battle space.
It makes no difference. If you want to carry 6 x 81mm, just carry 3 greenies.
@Really Sore Knee Logistics is 1/4 of defense spending.
Anyone know what the device at 0:20 is?
I'd be interested to know how the female soldier finds heavy carries with the mortar kit .
They can your pig.
@@Jeneral28 ?
Probably a similar experience to the men since they have to pass the same physical tests to get in the army now
As long as she is fit, she will not have much trouble carrying heavy stuff.
Whos here after seeing that video of the girl who took the last picture when a mortar exploded in front of her and the people shooting it.
Most people on this video are most likely soldiers who are training on mortars
Do you accept foreigners as volunteers?
Fight for your own country

I absolutely hate the new MultiCam for Great Britain terrain.
Disruptive pattern material was perfect for the English background.
1joshjosh1 it’s a multi terrain pattern for a reason the British army doesn’t fight battles on British soil so it doesn’t need to be a perfect match it has to work well enough in Britain and the Middle East which it does

Right.
of course
Attention all mortar maggots, adjust fire! Shot over, shot out. Splash over, splash out. Add 100, fire for effect.
Been there, done that, got the t-shirt and sent a post card!
Seven years on the American, M-30, 4.2-inch heavy mortar. AKA the "four-deuce", 672-pounds of weight sending out destruction on the battlefield. 4.2-inch is 107mm for the metric guys.
Insult to have a London regiment, Scottish, Welsh, Irish but no English regiments or regiments near Cumbria. Their nearest regiment is the Yorkshire regiment... What a joke.
Join the rifles then, they recruit from everywhere. Also it’s more insulting for the Scots welsh and Irish to only have 1 regiment when they used to have multiple. You shouldn’t join a regiment just because it’s your local one
They don't reflect the races of London that's for sure
London in the person.
@low7782 Reflect the population of London as in a comment in prevail.
Why are moron like you obsessed with race?
