Washing the feet of the apostles. The head given to the priests an act of mercy that they are to pass down to the future leaders of the church. Wash hands instead.

When I use youtube on my phone, the video sometimes doesn’t play the sound right away. I have to mute the video and unmute it to get the sound to play. Hope that helps.

Jesus Christ is establishing the sacrament of reconciliation here. He is preparing himself to be the Paschal Lamb. He is establishing the priesthood, yes. He is establishing the Eucharist, yes. And He is establishing the sacrament of reconciliation prior to establishing the Eucharist...! That is the significance of the washing of the feet.
    1. Jesus Christ lowers himself below the Apostles and removes his outer garments... the Holy One who is about to become sin, exposes his flesh to take the disciple's sins upon Himself.
    2. St. Peter sees that Jesus is humiliating himself and that is why he reacts by trying to prevent Jesus from debasing himself. Understandably, He does not comprehend what God is doing by becoming sin for our sake. "My ways are not your ways... so far above your ways are my ways and my thoughts above your thoughts." St. Peter is trying to keep God from humiliating himself.
    3. "If you do not let me make you clean, you have no part of me." Those who do not receive the soul's cleansing through sacrament of reconciliation but insist on going to God apart from the sacrament, "have no part of me." If we think we are humiliating ourselves in the confessional, Jesus Christ is humiliating himself infinitely more, by taking our sins upon Himself.
    4. St. Peter then goes the other extreme... and thinks he can make himself more acceptable to God the more he is cleansed. Just as some people treat the confessional with scrupulosity by trying to make themselves acceptable to God. But this is still largely a narcissistic endeavor rather than a response of love to the person of Love. We cannot Love with the Love of Christ, until we have received mercy ourselves. Only then, will we be made capable of showing mercy to others, which comes from God.
    5. Good point... it is our feet that are in contact with the earth. They also take us where we want to go... and often that is away from Christ. Our heart's desire must be rerouted through the sacrament as we are brought back into right relationship with Jesus Christ and receive the life of grace in our souls. Our will is the seat of desire... and it is the impurity of our desire for God that is tainted by our seeking our heart's one, true desire... in the things of the earth.
    6. "Those who are cleansed only have need to wash their feet." - This is referring to baptism. Once our soul has been cleansed by the waters of baptism, we have need of the sacrament of reconciliation moving forward. For those going through RCIA and who are about to be made whole through being baptized into the Catholic Church... moving forward, we come and let the Lord wash our feet.
    7. It is only AFTER Jesus has washed the disciples feet... that he re-clothes Himself to hide their SHAME from them... and now rises to sit among them at the table, as equals... to institute the Eucharist.
    8. "As I have done for you, so you also must do..." Jesus Christ instituting the sacrament of reconciliation. We are instructed to go through the Church... through the office of the priesthood that Christ is in the process of establishing.
    8. Jesus Christ then places his divinity into the Eucharist... which is bread come down from heaven... the grain of wheat which came to die, in order to bring forth life. The Word, which comes to fulfill the End for which is was sent... places His Divinity into the Eucharist and goes off to suffer as man... the Beatific Vision, the Presence of the Father completely hidden from him... utterly abandoned and rejected... he carries the full weight of our sins and the experience of utter isolation, abandonment... the representative Man... fulfilling what no man or woman could do for themselves.

You say that this isn't literally correct, but it might be more than symbolic or representative and maybe you just don't realise.
