Thank you! That makes sense... I'd like to nuance that: I know SOME ASL and NGT (Dutch Sign Language), yes. I started learning ASL because I'd come upon it on RUclips and thought is was the most beautiful language I'd ever seen/heard. Then I started organizing workshops Sign language and Deaf culture with a HOH friend here in the Netherlands and realized it would make a lot more sense to teach NGT. So now I'm gradually learning that too. Totally in love with it! :)
I am hard of hearing/partially deaf, and became that way very recently and unexpectedly.. this was beautiful and inspiring to watch. I'm seriously considering learning ASL as well as getting a hearing aid. And, on a funnier note, even when I did have all my hearing, I thought she was singing 'Subway can rejoice the truth'. What do delicious sandwiches have to do with Lady Gaga? Perhaps more than we thought.
Always be proud of yourself! Handicapped is an old term. The disabled, back in olden times, went "hand to cap" begging for money. Be proud. Say disabled. :) Unless you're Deaf!
Wow, I cannot believe how great this video is...I am so proud to be a member of this group now, can't wait to get more involved and I love my Teacher, Professor Michelle, you rock professor and Hat off to the others too. Way too gooooooooooooo!! Good Job! I LOVE THIS VIDEO>>>Yay!
I am not a Gaga fan and go out of my way to avoid her music. But when, as the result of a subscription to another's channel, this appeared in my feed, being gay and a former interpreter, it struck my interest. THIS IS AWESOME!!!!! Many thanks!
I love this so much, but it wont play on mobile youtube! There is a option that has to be clicked to get it do this, I wish I could share it at school. But for now I'll keep enjoying it at home. Thanks for sharing/making.
11 years later and this song and ASL interpretations of it still bring me so much joy! I'll never forget blasting this song and singing it at the top of my lungs on the way to my first NOH8 photo shoot with my dad! That was back in 2017. He was too shy to be in the picture with me that day but promised me he'd be in the picture the next time I go. We were supposed to get family and friends together for a group shot in 2021 for my 10 year anniversary of coming out, but the pandemic messed up that plan. I hope we get our picture one day.
Canadian sign uses the image of the crown whereas American sign uses a 'Q' initial and draws the hand from shoulder to opposite hip to invoke the image of the royal sash worn on special occasions of state... Both signs are actually derived from references to the Queen of England, and I'd venture to say that while ASL is not based on English grammar, the 'Q' initial does seem to indicate that it derives from the English word for 'Queen', at least a little.
Wow! You guys made an amazing video! Love the signing, but most of all your self confidence. You're all beautiful! - I didn't recognize the sign at 4.28 (two opposite V-shaped hands moving and turning) - can someone please tell me what it means? And I love the Canadian sign for 'queen', so much more beautiful than in ASL and Dutch sign language!
EXCELLENT VIDEO! All Canadian? I'm American, and noticed just a few signs I didn't recognize - "Queen" (is that an LGBT version of the sign)??? GREAT JOB!
Ryan Scarola - This was filmed in Toronto, Canada by the fabulous Ontario Rainbow Association for the Deaf (ORAD). The video features members and allies from of all walks of life as well as Deaf, Hard of Hearing, interpreters and hearing people :) It premiered at a Dragging ASL To Pride 🌹 PS. The sign for queen used I have seen locally in Toronto, but I have seen several other versions still in use. This one is a combination of root signs literally meaning ‘crown’ and ‘very fancy/shiny’. I think that’s perfect for Queen (and I believe in this case it is specifically referencing drag queens. I would have to ask a friend in the community to be sure though :)
WOW! I'm 4th generation Deaf myself and rarely enjoy music when signed because when translated in signed form often ends up being too English-y and doesn't make any sense if you do not think in English. This video did the song justice!! Congratulations to you all--LOVE THIS!
I thought this song was awesome, sure it doesn't specify birth defects or tragic accidents about how you might have become deaf. But if you get the meaning of all the words it's an awesome song just like a few others I've seen people doing in ASL. I'm a student learning and I love music so put ASL and music together I love it. And even though deaf people can't hear, they can feel the tone and/or beat(vibrations). I couldn't deal without my sense of hearing, I'm too into music.
A professional International Interpreter explained some things to me, and reminded SOME Canadian Sign Language is derived from Queen's English!? Learn something new everyday, although, I do fancy the Canadian Sign for "Queen" much more than American!!!!
I believe the sign is either DNA, hence we are all the same, we have our own DNA. Or, the sign means, if we switched places, we would see we are all the same. So, the V hands might mean, if we swapped places. Just my thoughts. :)
beautiful , we so glad there group that celebrate both commmunitys , however the zebra and checked shirts would disrespectful to Deaf community ( also hard to focus with busy prints)
OMGEEE I am a DIE HARD Gaga fan! and this is an AMAZING video....way to go everyone!
There needs to be a "love" button!!!(: I play this over and over.(:
Thank you! That makes sense...

This is fantastic. I've been taking asl for more than 5 years now. But do you mind explaining how to sign "I'm on the right track" ?
I really want to learn how to do this.
EXCELLENT VIDEO! All Canadian? I'm American, and noticed just a few signs I didn't recognize - "Queen" (is that an LGBT version of the sign)??? GREAT JOB!

I think that's the sign for "DNA" (btw, that's the way "DNA" is signed in Portuguese Sign Language, as well).
hahah i just noticed the "church" part thats awesome will
Any chance you could post the ASL Gloss for this?

Thank You All! Great video
when signing should one analize what the lirycs mean?
+94CakeCup always interpret the concepts into ASL.

Do you know the person at 4:07?
