Seems arbitrary to me. If the post is high and opposite the ball, just back screen the guard and we're in it. Of course in traditional chin, post is on same side as the ball so we need the g-to-g pass. but if not, that's ok too. You know the rules, now you can bend them.

Then the ball is reversed to the WEAKSIDE WING via 2 passes instead of 1 pass. It's about making the defense have to slide wing-to-wing.
