Easy way to Measure and mark ceramic tile for cuts using another tile so now tape measure is necessary.
Marking ceramic tiles for cuts can be challenging with a ruler or tape measure, here i offer a simple method to easily mark tiles for cutting that will give you the exact size for the cut. There is no measuring and no complicated tools, just a simple piece of tile. This method is easy and will be possible to mark almost all your tiles using this simple process.

Im just wrapping up my first tile install and spent soooo much time making sure the ditra was clean of any thinset before setting the tile. Wish I watched this first to see that its okay to have dried thinset on it 😆😆

If you have hexagonal tiles, you can do the same thing but you have to really really concentrate.

What's that piece of wood behind the tile? Is that to let you know where to start? If not if I'm doing a bathroom where on the floor would I need to start and would I just take the trip off and renail it above the tile? Thanks

Sal, do you think that using ditra system is becoming a must or the good old thinset on plywood with back buttering is still plenty....

+caca2199 Installing tie directly on plywood has never been the best method, in fact it is one of the methods that should be avoided where possible. Cement backer board underlayment is a good option, but an uncoupling membrane like Ditra is the one that in my opinion will give the best outcome and reliable expectation of a long lasting trouble free installation. This is not to say that i have not installed tile on plywood, but i have always done so reluctantly and insisted that all aspects of the installation be according to industry standards. Thanks Sal! But with the ditra, do you still have to double your plywood with a 3/8? Or the ditra act like one? ( you don't want to be too high compare to the hardwood floor)
