Honestly, it was a joke. But since you are asking, this show (even with its crazy antics) has represented iris in a realistic light that I could relate to. As a back woman, I struggle to find sorry lines about black people where the black characters didn’t grow up in the ghetto, had a dad walk out, or have major struggles. I am grateful I did not grow up with many struggles but her character lives her life as though there are no issues in the world about race and gender issues. It is just a nice escape from the actual realities this world is dealing with. I apologize if this offends you, but my comment was meant to be taken with a grain of salt.
This is SO shady and SO on point 😂 Iris & Eddie were as shallow as a kiddie pool together. They were boring together and had no chemistry, imo. Just about every aspect of their relationship was underdeveloped and surface level. Iris' vulnerability with Barry highlighted the numerous red flags in her relationship with Eddie, the most major of which you mentioned (her different levels of openness about her fears, joys, and insecurities). Now, I can't condone cheating y'all - just sayin'. That's one of my hardest dealbreakers.😬 I will say that seeing Black women be pampered out of love and genuine respect feeds my soul hunty I am in love with how the super sweet Barry always tries to be intentional about caring for her emotional, physical and sexual well-being. Ok, full honesty, I loved it when Iris was with Eddie because it showed that they both cared about each other a lot, but when Barry and Iris got together it was waaaay more than that. I love Eddie, but he and Iris aren't meant to be. Barry and Iris are, and I literally squealed when they first kissed, and I cried when Barry proposed the 2nd time(the musical episode)
