For my cousin, who's graduating highschool and going to be a freshman in college, I bought her a hair tools kit, where she can store her curling iron, straightener, brush, or etc, and a rolling laundry bag. I think that she can get uses out of them, especially the rolling laundry bag for when she does her laundry.
When I was going away for grad school, my friends gave me a photo frame with a collage of pictures with them, they have hidden letters behind the photo in a frame and never told me. I found those when I wanted to hang the frame, but the picture in it was upside down (they did that on purpose) but that finding made my whole day! That is a great idea!

I tried your Birthday in a Box last week and it was such a wonderful idea! Basically, I purchased a white box from Ikea, taped some balloons on the lid, and the inside was Harry Potter themed: DIY Wand brushes, Candles in a Mason Jar (Goblet of fire lololol), a flamingo notepad (as the phoenix), Bean Boozled... completed with a watercolor golden snitch birthday card! I feel dumb for not filming or taking a picture but I was inspired from your last DIY birthday gifts video x
