- Mr Lil One and Ross May pay Tribute to the One and only Godfather of Chicano Rap, the Late Great Mr KnightOwl, in February of 2022, with and Acoustic version of the Legendary Rappers hit Single titled "Here Comes The KnightOwl, originally released in 1994/95 on the Album "The KnightOwl" on Familia Records. The song was produced by KnightOwl himself and executive produced by Mexicali Slim, sampling the classics "You Cheated" by The Shields, and "Night Owl" by Tony Allen.
KnightOwl is known as the Originator of Chicano rap, blending the Oldies with modern day Chicano culture and lifestyle throughout the 90s and beyond, making waves by dropping albums all the way until his passing in 2022. Mr KnightOwl was born in Tijuana Mexico but represented 619 San Diego California and Chicanos worldwide, leaving behind a legacy of music and cultural influence that will stand the test of time through the ages, across all borders and color lines forever, as the 1 and only Godfather of Chicano Rap, setting the standard and carving a lane for all those who would come after him. Rest in Peace to the Legendary Mr KnightOwl!

As a Bayarea cat, I would listen to bay area norteño music , just because I liked, but when your Mexican listening to Mexican sureño or norteño music people look at you some type of way but putting on my black folks gangster rap is 100% okay with (depending on you hood) .but I was listing to norte rap one day at work and a new employe started and he was a ex sureno from Richmond oG type of age, and he hit me up saying in a super nice way if I can change the type of music because that's his enemy, and he said "you ever heard sureno music" I said no so he said if I can when I'm on my own time to search a rapper called lil one from SD, I did do so about 2 weeks later I was bored said hell with it won't hurt. And lil one is sureno forsure but his raps were never directly about sur trece guns and drugs .lil one was more about his moment and what he's gone through .and his raps are legendary. The ones about his daughters get me the most because just had my first BABY GIRL . Always keep an open mind .one love✌️
