Geoff and Voiceplay always pay homage to the original, but they will never do a cookie cutter version. Geoff has said, Why do something that someone else has done? His solo work always has instrumentation, when he wants to do acapella, he does it with the other guys.
This was the first time that he sang harmony and did not show multiple Geoffs to denote that.
There are other bass singers with similar ranges; it is the quality of his voice that sets him apart; the texture and timbre is amazing!
He didn't start doing solo work until Covid shut the world down and Voiceplay could no longer tour. He had a little time on his hands and went for it.
I am always here for him and Voiceplay!!

Geoff is mesmerizing, especially when he hums in harmony with himself.

Geoff has a way to change a song with subtle touches that invoke emotions and feelings above and beyond the original feelings intended by the writer.

It's not just Geoff's range: it's his ability to jump around it so fluidly. Many, many, many people on RUclips has larger ranges (myself included), but I haven't seen a single person who can sing the way Geoff can. It's not uncommon for bass singers to have large ranges, but very difficult to implement them in this way. It's nearly improbable to have this smooth of a transition; all because of vocal mechanics and physiological mechanics. A person with a deep voice has a larger larynx and vocal folds to move and manipulate. Changing that large mass for a higher vocal range is tough; going to that higher range and back down is tough. Moving between them effortlessly is a unicorn.

As always Geoff makes this song his own. A truly original and unique arrangement. And yes, of course, that beautiful voice. And let's not forget the piano skills too. And whenthe final section starts with him standing it always brings tears to my eyes. Geoff is a genius.

I loved the original and I was obsessed with the Disturbed cover. When I heard Geoff do this cover, I listened to it probably a couple dozen times. He makes every song his own, and it's so wonderful to experience his musicality, his artistry, his range, and the deep clear vocals he brings. The man is a national treasure :)

9:23 but at the same time as going high you can also hear he’s layered it with him singing the line super low too. He has such incredible range.

Great reaction. Glad you discovered the world of Geoff Castellucci. Another amazing demo of his range is on his cover of Blackbird.

Geoff not only has a gorgeous voice he has a range of a little over 5 octaves. A0 last key on the piano (growl), B0 (bottom of his subharmonic range), F1 (full chest voice), C4 or so is a mix, Bb5 is his highest falsetto (done in Peaches in one of VoicePlay's minis).

Thank you for another priceless reaction to Geoff. He has a way of reaching deep down into your soul like no one else can. All the background voices you hear are all Geoff. He is the master of blending his different voice ranges to give us an amazing harmony. I could also listen to him hum all night long. Forget about any lullaby out there just give me Geoff humming in my ear all night.

I find Geoff's voice absolutely captivating in the best of ways. His timbre, control, and range are incredible, and his arrangements are brilliant. I'm excited to see you enjoying his work and Voiceplay's, and if you want to see one of my personal favorite demonstrations of his control of his range, you should check out Voiceplay's "The Little Mermaid Medley"!

Geoff has a 5 octave range, which is absolutely batshit crazy. Also, Voiceplay's version of Oogie Boogie's Song would be PERFECT for Christmas. It also includes Geoff taking the lead and showing off, it's incredible.
