I certainly didn't. When this game first appeared I scoffed at this A.P.B. clone. Everything was going into 3d why would I wanna go backwards? But then GTA 3 came along and you know the rest.
@@ronsan89 How much though. From what I've seen it was in a Alpha, Beta at best state. We looking at near playable now? If so that's still kinda sad considering the originals which came out during the Bush Administration still looked and played better. They had their fair share of glitches sure but at least they were playable pretty much out of the box.
@@larrylaffer3246 It's one of the things I truly miss from the older consoles. Since patches weren't a thing, you could buy games and reasonably assume they were complete and functioning as intended from day one.
@@NintendoComplete Exactly. Though at least I'll give credit where it's due in rare cases like No Man's Land where patches are indeed a good thing to have. Where a developer that released an unfinished product was eventually able to release something close to what they promised. That is a nice a thing about modern gaming I wouldn't change. Oh that and analog joystick controllers with integrated rumble support being the industry standard with a D-Pad on the side; That's pretty rad too.
I think that people underestimate original GTA's popularity nowadays. The game was HUGE back in the day and almost every single gamer I knew had it on their PC. Never before an open world game was so satisfying and "real".
This was one of the first open world sandbox games ever. The closest we had at the time were Zelda clones, which were structured like Metroidvanias - you start with a small explorable area and it grows larger as you gain exploration tools. But in GTA, you could go literally anywhere at any moment.
I think this was the first game where I wondered what would happen if I put it in a normal CD player. Talk about a wonderful surprise when I found I could listen to the game soundtrack! Great game, Great memories!

I remember when I got GTA 2 on playstation. I loved how you could literally do whatever you wanted. GTA 3 came out not long after, and it was so popular. It's crazy to see how far this franchise has come. Wish I had the chance to play the first GTA. Always enjoyed all the content on this channel. Everything has been some great memories and nostalgia.
It's funny that for most games its like: "ok, we're gonna do this one off project and move on to something else after" only to end up becoming a big name franchise over time. GTA seemed to be like that.
I was never into GTA, I never understood what the fuss was about. Until about a few years ago, I think I finally understand why people like the series so much. While it's not for me, I do enjoy watching it played by someone who knows the stuff. It's also kinda sad what Rockstar and Take-Two recently turned these series into. Something tells me that eventual GTA6 will never be as popular as V.
I still really like GTA 1 and 2..and still play it.. But i must say as a xbox fan the ps1 or sony has the best start up ever.. When i hear it i think of GTA, ape escape, gran turismo and so many more games
We already got them but not how we think it is . In the first game you play in san andreas , vice city and liberty city . The remakes are actually Gta 3 , Vice city and san andreas .
Long time ago with my grandma grandpa (which they sadly passed in 2017/2020l back in those years 1999 2000 2001 when my cousin female and her father as my sheriff uncle (passed in 2016) bought over a n64 then, We thought of trying a PS2 system which turned out really good for us all, and the very first grand theft auto game we ever bought played was GTA III that we thought was a very cool fun game, And after all these years until 2019 towards now ongoing, i never ever knew about or remember this first grand theft auto ps1! But wow very interesting I'd say, if it wasn't for this gta1 then there wouldn't have been gtaIII or gta5!
Ah multiple protagonists before it became a big deal, though I do like how gta 2 does it, instead you're conning all the groups by going under different aliases for each group, always thought being called gecko was my favorite one.
Didn't Driver come out around the same time also on PS1? I just feel like Driver was way more impressive than the first GTA in terms of graphics and camera and there was an open world element to it.
Yeah, but that was made specifically for the DS. This one was a PC game running on significantly weaker hardware than the game was originally intended for. And no way, the DS's hardware was about on par with the N64, and the N64 trounces the PS1 in terms of raw power.
Eu gostei de ter visto esse GTA 1 , puxa já nessa época tinha música tocando nos carros , mas ele era bem simples, percebi que ele não tinha muita história e o final não entendi direito , não teve aquele chefão como tem nos outros GTAS.
Played this to death back in the day. As seen at 1.16:00 it was too easy for missions to fail due to nothing the player could control! Used to annoy the heck out of me.
From such humble beginnings, who would've ever suspected just how big the series would become?
Can you also upload some 'GTA II' , and GTA:UK ?
To GTAV… and GTAV… and then GTAV later… Such a series with breathtaking progress
When I first saw this game I remember thinking, 'It's like the legend of Zelda I've always wanted'. No NCP was safe.
Since III came, yeah.
I certainly didn't. When this game first appeared I scoffed at this A.P.B. clone. Everything was going into 3d why would I wanna go backwards? But then GTA 3 came along and you know the rest.
Amazing how a game running on hardware from 1994 can still work and look better than the "Remastered Trilogy" Rockstar just blessed us with recently.
They fixed it

Seeing El Burro at the thumbnail really made my day as much as this playthrough.

The one that started it all, and literally everyone forgets about.

Still better than GTA trilogy definitive edition
We need this Rockstar back, not the embarrassing shit they have become now

2D GTA series was the best.
i think this the Game that made the news for being too Violent when it first came out.
This is where it all began...and only because Race'n'Chase
didn't turn out to be quite as expected to say the least.

gta remaster looks amazing!
Classic. Imagine this remade for the next gen

NOOO
Rockstar/take2 couldn’t get the 6th Gen GTA’s remastered right on current Gen so no.
Imagine, NO

Dat cutscene tho
Gostei do GTA (Grand Theft Auto) dos Estados Unidos da América o primeiro GTA Lançado em 1997
I wish Rockstar remakes this game with same camera angle using RAGE.
Yeesh, no wonder this game and it's sequel are now considered tame by today's standards!
Reboot this awesome top-down classic.

Would you be able to play the expansion pack GTA London 1969 on PlayStation it’s a shorter game than the main game
I like that they used to be cop faces instead of the stars.
There was motorcycles in the first GTA but there was no motorcycles in GTA III can somebody please explain this to me
I totally forgot that Rockstar used to be DMA Designs. Remember their most violent game ever? Lemmings?
Lemmings was honestly pretty brutal.
@@ShinoSarna Right? When they'd go poof walking into the flamethrower. And those screams
Hey NintendoComplete. Could you save in this game? I had it in my PC but there was no LOAD GAME option.
What a feat.Kuddos
was one of the street names Hackenslash? Like the t.v show Chucky
For me the true GTA ended with GTA2 :)
take what you want
I love this game

GTA 1 is here

GTA1 has it remastered.
Can you play PS2 GTA III ?
I can't say anything about gta the first but I'm glad they fix it until gta 3 came ace in hole 😁
Even the gba had a gta
Those auto shops get rid of your wanted level.

Is it the hairy bellybutton? That unnerved me a bit, too.
Grand Theft Auto: Afghanistan "Revenge of the Taliban Terrorists"
Gostaria de ver o GTA 2 .
Gta smash tv
Oh man, this looks and runs like ass on PS1. First time I played this was on PC which looked and ran better
