- Is this really an edible wild food you can forage? Yes! This blue mushroom is called Lactarius indigo, and is a delicious mushroom for your table. Consult an ID book before you make the decision to add a new mushroom to your plate, or better yet, go out with a knowledgeable guide who can teach you how to recognize edible mushrooms.

@2 minutes: "We're just going to fry it in butter ... " Then a HUGE SMILE APPEARS on her face. What a precious human being. The sliced stem looks like a sliced agate rock.
Such kind words! And yes, doesn't that sliced stem look amazing? The cap was one thing, but when we opened up that stem we just stood gaping at its appearance. Wondrous!
So many miracles on this Earth - and yet very few notice - you and your wife and family are some of the few. ... Your daughter's facial expressions remind me of Natalie Wood was a child actress at 11 years old starring in The Green Promise in 1949 about a little girl who is desperate to own two little lambs.
You've really made our day. That's something we've all cultivated -- a love of life and a wonder of the world, and we're so glad it shows through =)
Tell us - in a video - how wondrous miracles of life are manifesting for you - including your precious children.
I will talk with the family about that! Might be a really fun video =)
Next thing I’ll be on the lookout for 👀
Here's some of that blue food George Carlin was looking for!
Looks almost like some exotic deep sea fish on the inside. Or that's how i'd imagine it. Good find!
There are certain other mushrooms that are known to bruise blue (ones that the kids shouldn't be eating!), but nothing so vibrant as these! I haven't seen anything quite like this. Fascinating!
Yes indeed -- we found a blue-staining bolete the other day that had about a 3-second change from white to bright blue. Amazing! But not on our plate =)
Wow! What a cool looking mushroom!🥰
Isn't it? We can't wait to find more!
I've found several of this in Yunnan China, tastes weired but still can be described as delicious.
I didn't know it grew over there! Awesome!!!!
i think that's cool thanks for sharing blue mushroom and i want to let you know bule and brown is my favorite colors and i never had blue mushroom before because i didn't know that exist
Isn't it crazy cool, Shawn? What a color!!!!
Oh my goodness!!!!!!
That certainly looks quite alien! Does it grow in Wisconsin?
It does! Found it only a few kilometers from our home!
@@ReWildUniversity wow, that´s awesome! How's the weather, feeling any warmer due to the heatwave?
No, it's been a surprisingly mild spring and summer thus far, with lots of rain. Everything is growing in huge abundance, a bit like a jungle! They are predicting some higher temps next week here, but still only around 29 or so.
What kind did you say this is? Amazing!
It's called the Indigo Milk Cap (Lactarius indigo). Wish we had found it just a couple days sooner!!! ;)
@ReWildUniversity I'm so glad we at least got to see it here! Thanks for sharing! I was surprised it's edible & that the blue didn't cook out like the purple pigment when you cook purple potatoes or broccoli! This mushroom SURELY has magical health benefits! Blue pigment foods are generally great for eye health.
I have that same feeling, Becky -- so often those strong colors mean amazing health benefits. I'll have to do some research . . . =)
Like mother's milk.
