Message for Vlad: When we get to the album Innuendo, and specifically the song "These Are the Days of Our Lives", it may be a good idea to include the music video in Amy's reaction, given the poignant goodbye from Freddie at the end.
It really made me laugh, when you asked "Am I crazy.......?" Of course you are, that's why we all listen to you ;-) The wonderful deep dives into the details of such a piece are not possible without some crazyness. Thank you for distributing a deeper understanding of this beautiful song.
Brian said: "The Miracle is one of Freddie's most amazing creations. It's so optimistic, talking about all the miracles that can be found in the world..." (although at that time Freddie's suffering due to his illness was beginning to show ... 😢).
Freddie's last ever written track "A Winters Tale" is very wintery and is what he sees at Lake Geneva in his last months of life is very emotional and in the minds eye shows you what the place is and it is spot on as I have visited there. What a place to be. "Thank God it's Christmas" is another great track to listen to.
I should have mentioned this is my previous post , but this is the BEST interpretation of this song I have EVER heard . I never thought about the musical masterpiece that this really is until you pointed out a few points that make absolute sense. BRILLIANT interpretation . This is why we all love what you do here on You Tube .
Both Freddie and Brian adored Jimi Hendrix. When Freddie was studying at art college (before even meeting Brian and Roger), he was present at every gig Jimi had around London and he made a ton of drawings of Hendrix. 😲 Brian was also mesmerized by Jimi's playing (but his parents made him focus more on his science studies) and he said that Hendrix was (along with The Beatles) like a Bible to Queen. It's interesting that when Freddie's family moved to London from Zanzibar, they were living approximately 500 meters away from Brian's home but Brian met Freddie years after when he and Roger where in a band called Smile and Freddie was a friend of their singer Tim Staffel who was like Freddie attending Art College... 😮 God really works in mysterious ways (like it's said in One Vision)...
Actually thats a similar quote from him, a reporter asked him "so Freddie how are you playing this show tonight", he replied " Thats easy dear, they play the instruments i play the crowd" :)
Just for fun watch the official video for this song. It is just as creative and unexpected as the song itself . I wont give away the surprise but i think you will love the unexpected surprises in the video.Just goes to show their genius.
The name of the album, the name of the song...They thought this would be their last work. And they knew Freddie needed that Miracle that never happened. It's curious to see how some schemes are repeated between "The Miracle" and "Innuendo" albums: the farewell song (Was it all worth it/The show must go on) and the deep message masterpiece (the miracle/innuendo). Time gave Queen an unexpected second chance for spreading their goodbye
Fredddie was also a big big fan of Jimmy Hendrix, he was his idol before becoming Freddie Mercury, And Brian loves this song and was amazed that Freddie could have such an outlook on life when he knew he had little time left to live. Thank you Amy, you are brillant !
I came here to say the same about Freddie being a huge fan of Jimi Hendrix. I always assumed that the Hendrix part in the song was more Freddie’s contribution because of it.
@@tomasj458 Freddie was a huge fan of Jimi Hendrix. He attended his concerts, tried to dress similarly (with the scarves), and even drew an amazing portrait of Jimi Hendrix.

I agree. Evil dictators and leaders have a lot of charisma in front of an audience like Freddie did. Just look at the austrian painter or his italian counterpart...
The way in which so much happens at the same time, at an instrumental level, type of chords, styles, like the guitar at the end simulating the spirit of war, with the vocalizations, is excellent, and as such, it becomes a miracle that only a band like Queen could weave.

if you hadn't pointed all all the little grace notes in the song, I might have continued to overlook them. Thank you Amy for adding more things to enjoy about one of my favourite Queen songs. It feels to me as it it is having a chuckle at itself. The music, the vocals, the instruments, everything about The Miracle sounds celebratory, and joyous. If I recall correctly, this is one of Brian May's favourite songs by Freddie. Give yourself a treat and watch the video for The Miracle. It's a real treat. I smile whenever I see it.
I enjoyed listening to you point out all the magical sounds Queen put into this song. Queen has an amazing Christmas song too which I hope you will listen to as well. It’s so forward thinking and inspiring just as this song The Miracle is. It makes one appreciate all the beauty of this planet. ❤
The Jimi Hendrix is absolutely a Freddie line. I get that Brian is your favorite but consistently in your videos you give him credit for things done by other band members. Freddie, according to his friends at the time, would spend every penny he had to go see Hendrix perform and was devastated when he died. He later said he based his on stage persona on Hendrix and that Hendrix represented everything a rockstar should be on stage.
Queen's old producer from the 70s Roy Thomas Baker produced a number one hit in the UK in 1987 with a song called China In Your Hand for the group T'Pau. That song starts very like The Miracle, clearly Queen were paying attention to what their old pal was doing.
This is the period when Freddie knew he had AIDS, it was the first album where the entire band was credited as song writers, very cool track, the shift at the end was clever, interesting that Amy mentioned Christmas, Queen did their own Christmas song in 1984 with "Thank God It's Christmas". Thank you for doing, getting close to the end!
To me this song was one of the most underappreciated songs of Queen, it' just a masterpiece , it still found a way to the Greatest hits, but still i think was underwhelming. It' all mixed in the song, the creativity, the great lyrics, the mixing, i mean, no one does music like this anymore :S
The video for this is well worth watching. I think they released this as a single as Freddie along with others who knew about his diagnosis were told he might not see Christmas 89 but he went on for almost another two years
Este analisis, esta forma de disfrutar y de enseñar al mismo tiempo, esta pequeña alegria de compartir y de recordar a Freddie... este video se siente como un milagro de Navidad. Gracias Amy, genuinamente gracias.
Amy, I see someone has already pointed, but you must watch video of this song, it is must. Please no spoilers in comments people. Great analysis and what inspirational thoughts, you have told us, thanks to Queen music. Please, kiss the little one and greetings to Vlad ✌️👍😉
You have an impressively unique take on things. I gave this piece a passing listening when it first came out. I was not struck by it. Do you have persuaded me that it is well worth spending time on. Thank you
Oh Amy... I thought I was now way too old to get so moved over this song as I did in my younger, more idealistic days. Well, you proved me wrong 😉 A terrific walk through of the music and a lovely, powerful commitment to the message. Thank you so much ❤
Interesting that you compare to Tchaikovsky and ballet. Freddie was a great fan of ballet and even got to “dance?” with the Royal Ballet. Hopefully, during the Christmas season Vlad will have Amy listen to Queen’s Thank God It’s Christmas. And yes, when asked what instrument do you play, Freddie answered, “the audience, darling”.
In hindsight, this and the next album has a somewhat reflective, introspective view intertwined into many of the songs. Although this one doesn't quite have as many as the next. There's a tad more optimism and hopefulness being expressed within the songs. The Miracle being one such song. 'Breakthru', and, 'Rain Must Fall', being 2 others that immediately spring to mind. As with all albums by all artists, the album is like a snapshot of where they were from a psychological point of view, at the time. The band had changed a bit, having not had an studio album to their name for 3 years. The longest period in their history. We know why, now, but back then, it was a bit of an enigma. Something was afoot, but we didn't know what. We just felt they were, in some respects, maturing a little by being more retrospective. They still let their playful side shine through, though.
It's a pity you've skipped Princess of Universe, cause it's a so unusual song (even better call it a track, but I still see as a great song). Hope you'll come back to all untouched songs one day))) thank you for all you are doing!!! Miracle also is a great song)))
Yes, the comparison with Christmas songs is very perceptive, peace on earth is a very Christmas message. From the soldiers temporarily pausing World War One to play football on Christmas Day 1914 to John Lennon's Merry Xmas (War Is Over) to Queen's former collaborator David Bowie singing Little Drummer Boy/Peace On Earth with Bing Crosby, it's all there.
Lovely analysis of this song! You're spot on in that Freddie was a huge fan of ballet and classical and operatic music, and John Deacon was the bass player, so the bass is a very prominent part of the arrangement. This is one of my favourite songs by the group, as I love the complexity and joyfulness of the overall sound and the way they put so many layers together so harmoniously. The music video is also delightful.
I think this is the only song where the tritone sounds completely natural and passes by without the boink on the nose. Also the crossfade at the end was before Protools which is bonkers. The shear inventiveness is great.
This album has been recorded between the late 1987 till Martz 1989. The first thing that comes to the educated hears is that in this album is very hard to find the dolby surround system. The remastering too of the sound. It's a little back to the beginning by Queen. Obviously not a complete goin back because synts are still largely used but, in general, the sound is mor clear and less remastered than in A kind of magic or in The works albums or Hot Speace. About this particular song, i'm pretty sure about the fact that it's a Freddie song. It should be particularly easy for the Fans to understand it. I think about it because Freddie were a big fan of Hendrix, he loves Arts (about Mona Lisa), the starting of the song i on the piano (and 90% of songs who start with piano are by Mercury) and the quality of the song in general remind me about the Freddie Mercury style. In General, about this album, they really tryied to do something special afther 3 years of inactivity. Have they reached the goal? i don't know.. i prefer much more the next Queen album. About this album i think there are a lot of good songs and a theme, but i don't like the theme, that basically is 'Everithing is fine'. And i don't like it just because it was a lie ;) They became mature and true in the next album. The album where they basically cannot lie anymore. And there, you can hear a real band. A band of men, of real deep artists, of mature artists. Their best album is absolutely the next. About the sound, this is absolutely the top of the '80s for Queen.
Your comment made me feel emotional and nostalgic bc I knew someone besides myself really understood Queen. ( silly bc there are many of us ) The things you wrote about Freddie all completely true and esp when you mentioned the ‘ quality’ of the song … …… and when you wrote ‘ the album where they cannot lie anymore’ I feel as I always have crushed that it had to end as they were truly ‘ a band of real deep artists, of mature artists’
A thoughtful reaction. Please, if the next is I Want It All, do the album version. Invisible Man is a must for the very chromatic guitar solo. I am sure that The Show Must Go On will be quite emotional for Amy.
In my opinión, the miracle transmits this sort of hope in some of its songs, like given the context in which Freddie was, the songs seem as if nothing bad was happening.
You're right that Freddie's instrument was the crowd, but you've haven't truly seen him work a crowd until you've seen Queen's performance at live aide 1985
The beginning, with the pizzicato strings and the lower droning underneath and the tone and all that, it reminds me of Donkey Kong Country 2, the song in the castle levels (Krook's March). Obviously this song came first, but for me I grew up playing DKC2 and discovered Queen later.
There was a nearly three year gap between this album’s release and A Kind of Magic (June 1986); after what ended up being their final gig at Knebworth Park (9 August 1986), the band decided to temporarily halt their career as Queen as they were dealing with their own personal lives. Brian May himself has recalled how Queen effectively took over their lifestyle amidst a growing audience. They felt that they needed to ration their time and conserve their energy via a lengthy hiatus. May commenced his relationship with Anita Dobson, and Freddie Mercury finished decorating his and Jim Hutton’s home after a shopping trip to Japan. Having seen footage of the band recording and promoting The Miracle album in 1988 and 1989, they sound rather refreshed and laid back, feeling confident to continue their work. They probably lacked any pressure from touring as well, since Mercury told the others (before he revealed his diagnosis) that he was not interested in live performances. This album as a whole seems to reflect this general feel-good attitude. P.S. I recommend Was It All Worth It if possible.
Brian had already started his relationship with Anita then his wife had their third child but divorced because of the affair Roger made an album with his band the cross Freddie decorated his and Jims home? he bought and had Garden Lodge completely renovated and moved in 85 with his ex then chef Joe also his PA Peter, Jim moved in later after their last concert Freddie said he was done with touring but if they all really wanted to carry on making albums he would once he had finished his solo album in 83 he had been given money to do 2 albums and had only done one 86 he asked Moran if he would work on his album with him they met earlier in the year through Dave Clark they agreed to start work on it early 87 since 78 they released albums every 2 years Freddie expected this to be the same assuming everyone wanted to carry on Feb Freddie released a single the cover of Great Pretender then started his solo album then He met Montserrat and she wanted to do a single but he was in the middle of the album but she asked was it done so he started work on that April he found out he had AIDS ....he ended up shelving his solo album and doing an album with her but the process was more difficult than a normal album would have been so it ended longer to do the Queen album, they hadn't planned to wait that long they finished recording the miracle in Jan 89 but it wasn't released until May
First time listening to this song , very nice arrangements, and some of Brian May's guitar solo sounds a bit like Jeff Beck...and as usual so many chords...
Wow! Surprised you have never done Queen's punk/metal punk parody. Sheer Heart Attack!! So popular it became part of their encore at most of their live performances! There was definitely a "Clash" of personalities and style of Sid Viscious of "Sex Pistols" and Freddie Mercury. Which led to the creation of this classic. Hope you get to enjoy this soon. Some great live performances of this encore on yt.
In Britain, having the top Christmas song each year is A THING. I would be curious if they didn’t release this going for that distinction. Now, it’s usually given to singing show winners.
Brian may has a really good interview video about what happened when they released a certain album, and they lost America, although they gained popularity in the rest of the world... Can't remember which one! And apparently, Brian played the harp on this song, also! I wonder if he built that himself...😸😸😸... And, as you listen to more Queen, you need to get used to the " I never heard them do that before!" Reaction! 😸😸😸
I'd love for Amy to listen to "Jeff Wayne's War Of The Worlds" but it really needs to be heard as a whole play through, But it is magnificent, and just gets better and better with age in my opinion.
You really truly need to listen to "Was It All Worth It" I think it was written by John Deacon with (obvious) input from Brian May. The band thought that this was going to be their final album and they wanted to give a last hurrah of a song...

To me this song was one of the most underappreciated songs of Queen, it' just a masterpiece , it still found a way to the Greatest hits, but still i think was underwhelming. It' all mixed in the song, the creativity, the great lyrics, the mixing, i mean, no one does music like this anymore :S
`WOW! Amy was very inspired
The video for this is well worth watching. I think they released this as a single as Freddie along with others who knew about his diagnosis were told he might not see Christmas 89 but he went on for almost another two years
Very excited to hear that after finishing her Beatles and Queen series, she'll do a Bowie series. So excited!
my favourite queen song
Well, you proved me wrong 😉
A terrific walk through of the music and a lovely, powerful commitment to the message. Thank you so much ❤
We are enjoying , aren't we 😃
Interesting that you compare to Tchaikovsky and ballet.
😂Princes
@@marykidd4004 yeah, you're right 😅
Just love you ❤
Dear Amy...
You just did it again....
You'll need to watch the video of this song!
QueenBrasil❤❤❤
Lovely analysis of this song! You're spot on in that Freddie was a huge fan of ballet and classical and operatic music, and John Deacon was the bass player, so the bass is a very prominent part of the arrangement. This is one of my favourite songs by the group, as I love the complexity and joyfulness of the overall sound and the way they put so many layers together so harmoniously. The music video is also delightful.
You can tell John had a lot of input into this. He always was the one that had upbeat themes.
Anyone who ‘ knows’ Queen knows this song is basically a FREDDIE MERCURY song. ( and Mona Lisa keeps on smiling ) Freddie all the way.
If you get the chance to see the video, you really should do so. It's wonderful.
In my opinión, the miracle transmits this sort of hope in some of its songs, like given the context in which Freddie was, the songs seem as if nothing bad was happening.
I d really be interested in watching your review for "was it all worth it". They went overkill in it.
Great video!
You're right that Freddie's instrument was the crowd, but you've haven't truly seen him work a crowd until you've seen Queen's performance at live aide 1985
Or him working the crowd in 2012 London Olympics. 😊
Brian had already started his relationship with Anita
then his wife had their third child but divorced because of the affair
Roger made an album with his band the cross
Freddie decorated his and Jims home?
he bought and had Garden Lodge completely renovated and moved in 85 with his ex then chef Joe also his PA Peter, Jim moved in later
after their last concert Freddie said he was done with touring
but if they all really wanted to carry on making albums he would once he had finished his solo album
in 83 he had been given money to do 2 albums and had only done one
86 he asked Moran if he would work on his album with him they met earlier in the year through Dave Clark
they agreed to start work on it early 87
since 78 they released albums every 2 years
Freddie expected this to be the same assuming everyone wanted to carry on
Feb Freddie released a single the cover of Great Pretender
then started his solo album
then He met Montserrat and she wanted to do a single but he was in the middle of the album but she asked was it done so he started work on that
April he found out he had AIDS
....he ended up shelving his solo album and doing an album with her but the process was more difficult than a normal album would have been so it ended longer to do the Queen album, they hadn't planned to wait that long
they finished recording the miracle in Jan 89 but it wasn't released until May
First time listening to this song , very nice arrangements, and some of Brian May's guitar solo sounds a bit like Jeff Beck...and as usual so many chords...
Watching the first 10 seconds, I thought I was having a flashback...
The treatments just came a little too late - you were our miracle Fred
Once the whole band were credited to the writing of the songs it released a new creativity and the band just got better and better until the end.
I can go on and on about this song, but what is the purpose? You mentioned it all, so I leave it by this... well done!
There's a phenomenal video for The Miracle. If you haven't seen it, I hope you will soon. You'll love it.
Reminds me of the Beatles "Magical Mystery Tour" and "I am the Walrus".
4:25 It's actually a B♭7, and then, the second one is G7.
With all respect, Miracle without a videoclip is only half of a Miracle:)))
Unfortunately, Freddie didn't live to see the miracle that HIV was no longer a death sentence. I think it was in 1995/96 when the breakthrough came. 😔
You really truly need to listen to "Was It All Worth It" I think it was written by John Deacon with (obvious) input from Brian May. The band thought that this was going to be their final album and they wanted to give a last hurrah of a song...
Freddie was the main writer of this song and was a massive Jimi Hendrix fan
