- EVGA Z590 DARK has finally arrived to the retail market. On this short video I demonstrate the maximum daily capable configuration using my G.Skill Ripjaws V 32GB 4266MHz 17-18-18 Memory kit. Most of you who are considering these 2 slot motherboards will obviously be looking at 2x16GB or even 2x32GB RAM options as 16GB of RAM is quite low amount nowadays.
This very same CPU and RAM configuration will be available as one of the internal OC Profiles inside the Z590 DARK BIOS so you can get these same numbers running with just a few clicks, assuming your CPU and Memory are able to do these values!
This is a sequel to my Gear 1 vs Gear 2 testing so check that one out as well!

Available on EVGA Store: www.evga.com/p...
Should appear on sites like Newegg, Amazon and so on in the very near future as well!

Been waiting for the Z590 Dark board to launch. Wanna get in on some rocket lake action!
@Luumi I just thought right now that it's really smart to have RAM slots on the top of the board, so you don't have to improvise a fan for RAM but can simply use 1 or even 2 fans on the top of the case as intake for RAM cooling and the air cooler can blow air onto the GPU backplate!
Love it, I will buy this mobo one day :-D
@Luumi I also see that in the previous video with this same board, RAM and CPU you could do only max 4600 MHz 18-18-18.
But the BIOS version was also not same as now, where you could do 4800 MHz 19-19-19.
It's the BIOS or you simply took your time to tune timings and/or RAM related voltage to make 4800 MHz 19-19-19 finally work
Yes because I didn't try 19-19-19, CAS 18 wasnt posting at 4800.
I am currently building an all EVGA build its in a corsair 5000d airflow with a EVGA FTW Z590, EVGA FTW 3080TI, EVGA CLC 360 AIO, EVGA 850 psu, Intel i9 10850k. I know the 10th gen cpu but its what I could get as far as top tier with my budget love all your videos I know your manly XOC stuff but I am trying to learn OC stuff period and your videos teach alot
Looking forward to this board!
Great content Luumi ! keep it coming.
Really impressive, these timings are insane but don't tell me you plan on dailying 1.45 vccsa xD
Uncore not that important though.
4800c19 djr sa 1.2v only good kit
bad 1.3-1.35...
4800c17 bdie sr.. if u got a good kit
stock sa/io 0.85/1v is enough
4533c17 dr bdie 1.05 sa is enough..
it depends on ure ram...
damn that's a sick oc!! tcwl 14 is insane for that speed, tRDRD's might also go down to 7, tRDWR's might also go a bit lower to reach 75K MB/s in aida ;)
also what Vdimm and VTT DDR were you running?
Should be 1.53-1.56 vdimm and VTT is 50% of that. Generally going over 1.55 on DRAM voltage on these modern DDR4 sticks isn't very fruitful as they start to lose stability. Good range is generally 1.4-1.55.
The board just launched finally ! I'm planning to get Gear 1 only and daily 3866MHz (I hope this board can do that memory speed) with F4-4000C16D Dual Rank 1.4V GSkill Trident Z 32GB B-Die kit, do you think that's a good idea since it's primary for gaming and other small work ?
Also may I please request you to do an XP / Windows 7 installation onto this board like Z490KP you did in the past, this one also has those PS/2 ports at the back thankfully and the i225V also works on Win7 with INF mod...Thank you.
I can make a guide video yes. But Gear 2 is better at very high frequency. Check my videos about it.
So with the new Intel Biglittle or littleBig coming, does it make much sense to get a motherboard like this? I mean, I get this is a mobo for LN oc'ers, etc., still.
Did you have to bin several 11900K to have one that can do 4800 MHz dual rank gear 2 or a binned sample was provided to you which can do 4800 MHz dual rank gear 2?
Because I know nobody who could even do 4533 or 4400 MHz with 2x16 GB Samsung B-DIEs on any Apex XIII with any 11900K.
Or maybe it's the motherboard that makes such a difference?
No this is the only 11900K I have tried and this one isn't very super.
@@LuumiJuhani so it might be the motherboard then that makes such a difference
@@LuumiJuhani so you had to buy this CPU sample or it was provided to you with Z590 Dark?
@@yuriyjikharev6966 This is a very old test CPU that I got with the dark to troubleshoot the problems that were present. The retail CPUs are generally better than the very old test pieces. I will be trying a new CPU soon.
@@LuumiJuhani thank you very much!
I just try to figure out whether it's the CPU IMC or the board/BIOS maturity that allows for 4800 MHz dual rank Samsung, since no Apex XIII with dozens of 11900K can't do 4400 or 4533 MHz dual rank Samsung.
If it's really the board, it could make me buy the Dark over Apex XIII
Nice! What is nominal at elements of VRM? 90A ? Dark better then OCF ?
Better RAM OC then Z490 Kingpin with Comet Lake?
Fortunately for EVGA, MSI is taking their sweet time with the Unify-x...
It’s already launched a month ago
I want to upgrade my 9900ks z390 dark to this but no point, cpu not much different and evga release z590 dark so late when next gen intel 12 series out in few months. i wait for z690
Just picked up a Gigabyte x570 xtreme board, grabbed a couple 4400 cl19 sticks, im not big into doing the benchmarks just looking to get some tight timings. I Forget if you have a forum for this stuff, if not what do you think i could get them down to roughly.
filling all 4 dimm
Impressive. Asus just lost the crown, this is unbeatable for them nowadays. GJ EVGA!
10 layers PCB of the Dark might make a difference, to some extent, vs. only 6 layers PCB of Apex XIII, for RAM frequency, RAM related voltages and timings
ocf have 12 layers PCB lol
@@kaiwenwu8148 after 15 years motherboard manufacturers be like : Our boards come with 69 layer pcb
What was the VCCIO, the normal one, not MEM?
Since you said it also needed to be increased in some cases.
1.45 for SA and IO2/IO-memory
1.45
what is your maximum clock for 1:1 mode?
3880 with CPU on air, with cold CPU over 4000 with 2x16 but this CPU IMC isn't very good.
Do you think the 4 slot spacing on the motherboard is beneficial for 2x3090 OC?
Well it helps with the cooling. For 2x3090 you want PCI-E 4.0 if you don't have x16 for both cards.
@@LuumiJuhani the only reason I considered z590 is because of the 4 slot spacing to be able to use the NVlink bridge, since almost no one makes a 3 slot bridge, but I was foolish and bought a 4 piece ram kit, and want to stick to 4 channel memory for now, and that leaves me with x299… thankfully buying x299 is pretty cheap at this point because it’s OOLLDDD. Sadly, my x99 cpu or motherboard is dying, so it’s got to get replaced.
@@the_Scarlet_one Well X299 will give you x16 on both cards but gen 3 which is the same thing as gen 4 x8. But if you go on X299 you need one of the large core count CPUs. Otherwise it is better to return the memory kit and buy something different.
@@LuumiJuhani I have had the kit for about 10 months now, so return is out of the question, but I ended up finding a brand new 10940x for a decent price (the same as all of the 10900x's) so I am going to move from the 6950x to a 10940x. Won't be a big improvement, but it will hold me over until Intel decides what to do with the next HEDT motherboard.
I look forward to more content. I enjoy your reviews and videos.
This or z590 apex for a 10900k? For lowest latency.
I guess no big difference.
@@LuumiJuhani i chose the asus because the z490 dark doesn’t have a ppd setting for ram in the bios. That lowers latency by like 1-3ns. I don’t know if the z590 dark added that, but I can’t find any info anywhere about it so i just got the asus.
Do you think the Dark is worth to get over Apex XIII?
Well I still don't have enough testing done. At least when I watched the EVGA OC stream at the start of this month it looked very easy to get to the max speed. On memory at least from daily perspective I think Dark has great chance to go above the Apex.
@@LuumiJuhani yes, it's only highest possible daily settings that are interesting for me. Not extreme OC for numbers
Z590 DARK is so much better with RKL than Z490 DARK!
Well not just about dark but z490 overall. Z490 can't oc Rocket Lake well.
