Okay so you should also know that the gasp at the end is up for interpretation. But my favorite interpretation is that it isn’t Hamilton, but Lin Manuel-Miranda bringing Eliza to the front of the stage to see all of the people watching, telling her that her story was indeed told. And the gasp is her realizing it. It was this really emotional, human moment of, ‘oh wow, my husband’s legacy is complete, and my part in it, all of my grief and loyalty, was documented and shared with the world.’
That is such a beautiful interpretation. It kinda gives the play a happy ending because one of Eliza's themes was telling Hamilton to "look around' and see what he has already achieved. In the end, she is finally able to "look around" and realize how much she has accomplished by seeing the audience.
