Disappointed that "I'll sleep when I am dead" and "Thief" (or the Mel Gibson remake "Payback") didn't make the list. #3 & #2 are good choices, but the revenge in Oldboy, is what the brother does to the main character (kidnapping and imprisoning him) for the death of his sister. Other revenge flicks more infamous than famous, would be: "I spit on your grave", "Ms. 45", "Salon Kitty" and "I saw the Devil."

Your taste is completely different than mine.
Two worst disappointments I've watched in the vengeance genre - included. I mean "Kill Bill" and "Harry Brown". Respect for knowing "Deadman's Shoes" but I think it still doesn't deserve the top 10. "Taken" is 10'th? It's the best!
    My current ranking is:
    1. "Taken", "Equalizer"
    2. "Edge of Darkness", "Homefront", "The Suspect", "Jack Reacher: One Shot", "Recoil"
Honorable Mentions - "Law Abiding Citizen" (would be a top1 if the end wasn't so fucked up)
    - "Jason Bourne" (all) (it's a bit of something different than vengeance, but still the type I love the most - unstoppable, intelligent and skilled one-man-army)
    No more words for it

There was no accidental death of Brandon Lee. Never in the history of cinema was there ever any accidental shooting of an actor, not even a scratch or anything minimally similar. Brandon like his father was murdered by the Chinese triads. It was a message, his mother knows it all too well but you never, ever hear her suggest even the slightest idea of foul play because she still has a daughter she loves dearly.
