FYI. John Farnham singing “Help” with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is the best live vocal ever performed.
Yes, it is!
I can't split help from Gethsemane and the cover of When the War is Over.
Absolutely please check it out. Always do live versions
100% please do this version of Help
This song was released in 1991. Jimmy Barnes is the first singer. John Farnham is second singer. Two of Australia’s legend singers. They’ve been around for 5-6 decades singing. The third guy is (guitarist) is Diesel Jimmy Barnes brother in law as well he’s a singer and guitarist and a legend in his own right.
When Jimmy or John pass away you will have grown men and women openly weeping in the street. I'll be one of them.
A Scottis-born Australian, an English-born Australian and an American-born Australian sat in a bar and This Happened.
They are ALL Australian
Farnesy and Barnesy are 2 of the greatest living Aussie music icons.
Jimmy Barnes Stone Cold a must for you to watch and John Farnham with the MSO doing Help and Your the voice.
Pretty sure that your going to absolutely love " Jimmy Barnes - Stone Cold (feat. Joe Bonamassa) (Official Video)"
Blues, soul and grit, backed by some great muso's. Joe's guitar solos' are beyond words!
You pronounced Farnham perfectly. That's pretty rare.
Our generation that grew up listenning to these great singers were beyond lucky!!! 😀
Still remember seeing Jimmy and Swany in the pubs in SA when they lived there and pub rock was still a thing.
the world didnt care , they were just for us , the best in the world and no one took notice until it was too late , my younger years of fantastic music are now finding its way around the world .... we lived it , we own it , we are now old enough to think of it as the sound track to our youth , yet they just found it ,, how lucky are we , were we , i agree sandie 😘
100% agree. I have always thought that of that era of Aussie music we were so lucky.
If you are playing John we find you. He is our Legend and called the Voice. They only did a couple of songs together.
Diesel is the guitarist and Barnes brother in law. He is in live performances of this song and sings with them after his solo. He is a talent in his own right. I haven’t yet seen anyone out sing John in any genre. Anthony Warlow would when they sing Opera but he is classically trained. John can hold his own and he is so humble, funny and kind. He is loved. Thank you.
The live version is even better ...!
I would normally agree re live versions, except for this track. I really prefer this version. I think it highlights their individual talent, is crisper somehow, especially Diesel's solo which I think loses a little impact in the live version.
Anytime you listen to either of them pick a live version. And prepare for brilliance.
NO autotune required with these three. It's called genuine talent...
No one needed auto tune in this era cause if you didnt have a voice you never sung
That's what we call talent here in Australia as well.
Both these guys are living Legends here in Austalia. Jimmy is now 68 and John is 75..and both are still as much loved today as they have been throughout there 5 and 6 decade long careers.
Jimmy was and still is a huge fan of John Farnham and when John agreed to record this song together both were a little intimidated by the other. Both had huge respect fir each other. By the end of the recording session for this song they had become firm freinds and remain great mates to this day. Each have had their health issues over the last couple of years and they have been great support to each other. Jimmy is still recording new music and touring and packing houses and John is still recovering major surgery to remove and reconstruct his jaw after mouth cancer. Last Time he performed live was around 2020. He is now enjoying his retirement..
Chexknout John Farnham signing his most famous song You're the Voice live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
I see you've already done some cold chisel and Jimmy Barnes ....so I hope you'll find time to check out some of John as well❤❤
John Farnham was, is, and will always be " THE VOICE!"
There are no words to describe how bloody fantastic this is! John & Jimmy feed off each other during the whole performance. It is the best rendition of this song I've heard. They are both singing their lungs, hearts & souls out. "Magic" barely describes it!!
I agree! Others will say to always go live, and by choosing the Hey Hey It’s Saturday version they get the wonderful acapella ending by the three of them. The others have good bits too but this one … it’s got the black and white film noir and intimate bar atmosphere. I also think the high quality of Jimmy and John’s voices in this version comes over as a mellifluous delight for the senses!
That’s our boys😊. The other Aussies will explain about them.
Thoroughly enjoyed the look on your face of ‘wow’ as you watched them.
Terrific review 😊
jimmy barnes is a great singer but john fartham is the GOAT as he can sing any genre... you name it he can sing it.
yeah even Christmas carols - I love Silent Night that he did with guys from LRB at Carols By Candlelight.
Thanks for your reaction. Both Jimmy and John have very deep rabbit holes. John, the blonde one, is my favourite, but they are both great. Australia produces some of the best talent in the world, only Americans don't know about it. It's well worth diving into our music. 😃
Farnsey & Barnesy 2 of Australia's finest. Both have had very successful singing careers spanning 50+ years. Unfortunately both have had health issues in the last 2 years but both have recovered well. This is a very deep rabbit hole that you won't regret with these 2.
New Aussie subscriber here, if you want to hear just why Aussies call John Farnham The Voice.
Listen to John Farnham version of Help (LIVE with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra)
And Jimmy Barnes - Stone Cold feat. Joe Bonamassa - Official Video
...and Diesel on the guitar, another legend!!
Two of the biggest Aussie legends there. Thanks Grant!
The first singer - Jimmy Barnes, you also just saw in Cold Chisel - Bow River.
Jimmy Barnes is indeed the guy in the circular thumbnail and also on the top right Working Class Man video thumbnail.
Our two best boys right here. Hope you delve into more Jimmy Barnes (solo and with his band Cold Chisel) and John Farnham. John takes the higher part in this but both are capable of the same crazy vocal range!
Cold chisel just dropped a new song!
I just commented with the words ‘our boys’ in a comment Kappy lol. 😊
Well said Kappy ❤❤ The two best ever. How have you been by the way? ❤❤
@@bernadettelanders7306Our boys - so right Bernadette ❤😂🎉
And let's not forget that Chisel's version of this song from 1982 is on your page should anyone want to check that out. 🎉🎉🎉
The boys are both getting on in years, like us. Jimmy is back on the road after open heart surgery. He was a hard rocker and drinker in his early days. John is 73 and recovering from mouth cancer a year ago. The boy on guitar is Jimmy's brother in law and an American.
All 3 are Aussie citizens!! Diesel grew up in Perth
Plenty of live versions on You Tube and they're just as good if not better! Three of Oz's GOATs.
You've just opened a can of worms for old Aussie talent 👍👍👍👍
This was originally recorded by Sam and Dave in 1967. When reacting to Jimmy Barnes, John Farnham, Cold Chisel, they should be live performances as they are a show in themselves. Jimmy is now 68 and John is 75 years old. Jimmy is still performing and has gotten better with age. Check Stone Cold Jimmy Barnes featuring Joe Bonamassa
Jimmy Barnes was a member of the rock group Cold Chisel, while John Farnham is a solo artist; John Farnham's "You're The Voice" was released overseas, and John is known as 'The Voice' in Australia and has been performing since 1967.
He also was lead singer of little river band for a while
I see your subs moving over this one reaction lol.
Great to see you discover two of national treasures. Both brilliant singers with personalities to match.
John Farham is fighting mouth cancer so he is a legend!!!
Welcome to the rabbit hole that is Jimmy Barnes and John Farnham please keep watching Aussie Artist. These two are Australian royalty
Johnny Diesel on the guitar is also awesome.
2 absolute Aussie legends singing and diesel on guitar
Glad you have enjoyed it
The original version is sung by Sam & Dave. But this is a modern version done by 2 great legends. Nice reaction, cheers Mate. 👍🦘
Everyone has their personal preferences when it comes to singers, but these two always come in in Everyone's top 10 or top 5 musicians and singers.
Jimmy, dark hair, is more into R&B, Blues, Soul and Rock. Beloved by the masses for his time both Solo and his old band Cold Chisel.
He has numerous adult children, and all of them are unbelievable singers and musicians themselves.
John, blonde hair, is seriously gifted in any and all genres. He has and can sing any style that anyone can think of. Of the three he is the most gifted and is called "The Voice" for a good reason. He has fans amongst his fellow musicians and singers across the globe that have legendary names world wide.
What everyone loves about him across the world, is that in a cut throat industry he has managed to stay true to himself for 50 years and is respectful, honest and will drop everything if you ask for his help and be there for you. There is no such thing as competition, he will gladly help you in every way he can.
Diesel, the guitarist, is a R&B, Soul and Blues singer and is a legend in his own right.
He is loved for his time Solo and with his band The Injectors.
A Scotsman, Englishman and American Born respectively all migrated to Australia as children and spent their entire lives and careers on the Great Southern Soil.
@@G.H.O.S.T.254 well said Ghost 🥰
Thank you for reacting to our Aussie legends. You'll now get a whole lot of Aussies love your reaction to our G.O.A.T.s John Farnham is the.most versatile powerful singer and can sing any genre and is also one of the most down to earth performers with a great sense of humour and stage presence. He started in 1967 and is now 75. He could still belt them out at 71 before Covid and he is now fully recovered from mouth cancer, but alas may not perform again. I would encourage you to listen to more of him and Jimmy/Cold Chisel. Jimmy has so much power and grit and is our Rock, Soul and Blues King here. You'll enjoy going down these 2 rabbit holes, thats for sure! 😂🎉 Enjoy. We Aussies love sharing our boys with the world ❤😂🎉
Welcome to the Jimmy Barnes (Barnesy)/Cold Chisel also John Farnham (Farnesy) rabbit hole 😂
The reason Cold Chisel wasn’t known in the US is because the American music executives stuffed them around so when they were on the plane back to Australia cold chisel wrote song called you’ve got nothing I want. Cold Chisel is a band that has 2 lead singers Jimmy Barnes and Ian Moss who was also the lead guitarist in the band. 😊
The first singer is Jimmy, who was the lead singer for Cold Chisel, who you've done a reaction to. John Farnham for a while was the lead singer for Little River Band, but is better known in Australia for his incredible solo career.
Jimmy (on left), born in Scotland, raised in Australia, John (on right), born in England, raised in Australia. Johnny (Guitar), born in the US and grew up in Australia.
Jimmy started in 70's, John in the 60's and Johnny in the 80's.
And John has been married for 51 years, Jimmy for over 40 years, and Diesel for over 30 years. ❤
@@AussieDebb really a 3 way marriage how interesting - she must be exhausted
@@bodybalanceU2 😂. Thought crossed my mind too. But I know what was meant… 3 amazing women!
@@WilliamBrooks-ye9es yes that's exactly right William - thank you 🤣💖
@@bodybalanceU2 I've edited my comment now so there's no disrespect to these great guys.
Buck, review these two legends over and over and you will be an awesome reaction hero.
They all looked like they were having the best time in their lives - just magic!
Jimmy Barnes was in band called Cold Chisel from 1973 to 1982. Cold Chisel or just Chisel did this song back in 1982 at a concert in Germany at Rockapalst. This song, with Jimmy and John was releases 9 years later. Dr_Kap has Chisel's version on her channel. It is also brilliant.
John Farnham is affectionately known as The Voice. Coincidently, he has a song by the same name.
Both artists have a lot of respect for each other.
Jimmy is still performing and is 68 years young. He has had 2 heart surgeries, one of which was late last year and hip surgery.
John is 75 years young, has been singing since the 1960s. He has had part of his jaw removed due to cancer in 2022.
Both are legends 🇦🇺🇦🇺
What a treat! Great reaction to 2 Aussie GOAT's. Watch the Aussies show up - beckon and they will come. 🐨🦘
Just for yourself go and watch one of the live performances of this song they blow this recorded one out of water.both Jimmy and John are far better live everytime if at all possible always go for the live performances.
Agree I like the “ hey hey it’s Saturday “ version the best , you?
@kethlyfallon5095 no I like one of the other 2 best
The guy in the circle or thumbnail is Jimmy Barnes at 66 years of age and it is the cover of his first ever Christmas Album called Blue Christmas. The best Christmas Album ever released.
Thank you for listening to 3 Aussie legends 😊 👍
This was recorded in 1991, so definitely no auto tune, just pure incredible talent all round. I hope you will listen to more.
It will have been suggested 100 times already in the comments, but please take a listen to John Farnham (the blonde on the right) singing his version of Help with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. It is the closest thing to perfection you will ever see 😊
Thank you for your reaction, I for one am very glad I stopped by ❤❤
The original song was a Sam & Dave release in 1966. This is from Jimmy Barnes 1991 album Soul Deep; Jimmy released a second album Soul Deeper in 2000. The best live performance of this song, is from the 1991 ARIA(Australian Recording Industry Association) Awards; alternately, from the tv show Hey Hey It's Saturday in 1991. Enjoy.
Jimmy is from the band cold Chisel. Sang, when the war is over , that you recently did.John has fair hair and a very pleasant face.Guitar playing is the great Johnny Deisel.Ond is the best in the business.
Two of Australia's biggest talents!
Jimmy comes in first...then John...both aussie icons.
lol for a moment there Rick I thought you were ranking them 😂
@@Dr_KAPLOL 😂 So did I!!
@@AussieDebb 🤣 I was like wow that’s brave of him!!
@@Dr_KAP Yeah I was going to ask Rick when he changed 😂😂

Rick sounded like he was calling a horse race 😂. Don’t dare tell him I said that. Hide my comment Doc
😂😂
I have seen both of these legends live many times over the years, truly remarkable. Jimmy Barnes was the lead singer of a great Aussie band called Cold Chisel. Both men are adored here in Oz.
Hey Son welcome to the genius of Jimmy (brunette), John (blonde) and Diesel. Aussies (pronounced Ozzies). These guys are friends, not a musical trio as such with each having other musical lives. John is the GOAT not just in Oz and can sing in every genre from musical theatre, opera, hard rock and is admired by all the international greats. He's not just a singer/performer to us, he's family so be warned. Go down the John Farnham rabbit hole and watch how many Aussies show up for your reactions. Find John Farnham and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra concert, react to John's rendition of Help it will blow you away, then You're The Voice. Jimmy is amazing too and you'll love Joe Bonamassa on guitar on Jimmy's Stone Cold. So much talent downunder you have to check it out. Quick question why don't you sit down and relax. Liking you so far, more please..
John could sing the phonebook and make it a hit.
Jimmy is a more acquired taste.
Acquired pretty easily though. One bottle of Vodka will usually do it.
I love them both but I like Jimmy’s style of singing better.. think it’s due to us coming from similar upbringings
Thought you might like it. Yes, the song has been around for some time, Sam and Dave did the original. Great reaction.
Jimmy Barnes, the first singer, was the lead singer in Cold Chisel, a fantastic band of the 70s + and also has had a great independent career as well. John Farnham, was a legend, at one time he sang with The Little River Band and then finally brought out an album called Whispering Jack that really revived his career. The guitarist is Johnny Diesel (Mark Lizotte) who has/had a career as a single artist and who is married to Jimmy's sister in law. Do yourself a favour and listen to some Cold Chisel, they are timeless.
You think this is good, you should hear them when they sing it live! Thanks fos sharing matey
You should definitely check out some more John Farnham. One of the best vocalists of all time!
The boys had been on the scotch, Jimmy complained that John still sounded like an angel, BTW another Aussie sincerely is drunk sitting on the stage playing the guitar
I was blown was when this song was released. I was probably 14 and knew who all the artists were but was still taken by surprise. Love Diesel on guitar.
You have just opened Pandora's box by listening to Australia's 2 greatest singers, now, be ready for Australians sending you requests for other songs that are too numerous to list hear and enjoy the unbelievable talent coming your way. My advice is you watch John Farnham live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra singing his version of the Beatles song "HELP" Enjoy, from Tasmania
Barnsey, Farnsey and a splash of Diesel! Aussie greatness!!
Live is even better. If you react to either of these guys again, always go with live versions.
The thumbnail is Jimmy recently. Jimmy and his band, Cold Chisel are doing their 50th anniversary tour now
There are three versions of this duet on RUclips. All are slightly different. All are good.
Aussie girl here. You will get the hang of how everything works. Great reaction 💥
Australia is known as a land of BIG things, and the voices are no different
Listening to this for the first time is definitely better for you than sleeping.
Please more Farnsey.
He is the GOAT
There is a series called John Farnham can sing anything .
He even sings opera on the Main Event.
It was a concert live with Olivia Newton John and Anthony Warlow another legend more for musical theatre and stage.
He was put Phantom of the Opera.
John Played Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar,
H Ewan in pippin and
Joseph and the technicolor Dream Coat.
Always watch and comment on live. If you think he is good in the studio it will blow your socks off to watch him live.
help especially. I was at that concert a very young me with my trusty instamatic can be seen. It was a stormy night and very wet roads he sang HELP and said good night telling us to be careful going home.
It is an amazing performance keep in mind he had already sung 2 hours he was exhausted but this it one of his best ever performances.
There is an electricity in the air at a Farnsey concert. Unfuckingforgettable!!
.
Live... You have to watch them live...
No editing or coverups... Just pure talent
John farnham singing Gethsemane from jesus christ superstar is an absolute must listen or anything really he is just that good 👍.
Aussie subs will soon start arriving. Some are Karens and will tell you to always choose live versions....but I like this official video. Thank you.
I`m with you Rick. I like the original versions better. 👍
I’ve seen this live. It was better, but this is v/good for recorded.

Suggest you check out Ice House; The Black Sorrows; INXS (in Excess); NoiseWorks; Crowded House; Rose Tattoos; Jimmy Barns with Tina Turner; etc. When Frank Sinatra toured Australia he never needed to bring his orchestra... Cheers from Sydney.
Welcome to the rabbit hole of Australian music!
The live version of this song is even better!
Jimmy is the short dark haired one. One of the singers in Cold Chisel. Listen to his daughter, Mahalia, with Joe Bonamassa. Riding With The Kings. She ROCKS too.

I love this , it is so honest and raw, you have no idea who they are which is perfect ! Love that you enjoyed it. Poor Jimbo in hospital tonight we hope he is back on his feet soon. They are both Aussie treasures ❤
The guitarist here is Diesel, who happens to be Jimmy Barnes brother in law, but is also a stand out talent in his own right with his own band and decades long history in the Australian music industry.

Jimmy was in that track you played BOW RIVER with Cold Chisel ,he was the second singer ( equal lead singer)

As someone else recommended,
Stone Cold, by Jimmy Barnes & Joe bonnamassa.
Aussie legends. You need to see more of John and Jimmy. So talented. 😊
Bramba 1953 recommended Stone Cold. Jimmy with Joe Bonamassa. He got that right, it is probably the best guitar solo I have ever heard.
I loved your face when John Farnham starting singing lol...Jimmy Barns and John Farnham are two of Australia's legendary singers....both friends and have their own bands etc. but they do sometimes turn up at each others shows and do a duet lol. There is a better 'live' performance of this on a TV show called Hey Hey it's Saturday and they absolutely blow your socks off. lol checking out your channel now for more Aussies lol

Better?
@@jeremykothe2847 There’s live recordings of them check it out.
We may have just hooked you onto the Australian music scene, and it's a GIANT rabbit-hole; covering all genres of music. I would recommend you react to John Farnham singing The Beatles classic song Help with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, live in 1989; his signature song You're The Voice from this same concert, is also great. Another Australian artist lately being reacted to is Kasey Chambers, an accomplished Australian country singer-songwriter; she does a country/rock version of Eminem's Lose Yourself, this so different that she was given permission to upload this performance to Spotify in it's own right.
I wrote them all down my friend
Great reaction. Best wishes from South Australia 🇦🇺
Darn it’s just a shame you didn’t listen to a live version, with any Aussie singing artists live is so much better! LOL American reactors always go to the studio version, why because American artists always seem so much better as a studio version! Barnsey and Farnsey in any of their songs are so, so much better live!😮! They are legends!
Thanks for the comment. The person who requested the reaction wanted me to react to the "studio" version. I'll check out live as well. To me live tells the real story...
@@SonofBuck-f7z Honestly there is very very little difference. John (the blonde one)'s talent shows a little more since his high runs are more emphasised. But it's the same sound.
I personally like that you don't do a weird intro and are just yourself, that's why people are tunning in 😀 oh and the overshare is a bit comical and very down to earth and real!!!
