    I have a 99 ml 320 and did repleced that motor by removing the dash ,but before i did that it was stuck on heat so instead of going thru glove box , you can just take middle air vents they come out as one very easy and from there you can see blend motor and its controls that can be reached by hand or long screwdriver.

    Thanks for this one Joe! Fixed my cold air problem after spending a day or two scratching my head trying to figure out why my ML430 wasn't getting its normal cold temp with the A/C...then I remembered that the heat wasn't working too well the last time I used it and looked up warm air AND cold air not working properly and ...BINGO! There was your video!
    My motor is still working, but is sluggish and won't open fully in the cold air mode. Shot some WD40 onto the plastic cam but that didn't seem to make much difference. Guess I'll have to figure out a way to make it easy to turn on the warm air and go back to cold again without pulling out the glove box every time the weather changes. I'm thinking of installing some sort of push rod inside the glove box to "help" the cam when it sticks half way. Thanks again!

      Hey I just bought a 99 ml430 an my not quit getting cold an now that its getting cold I turn it to warm an it's just barely warm an I know my thermostat is open up cause my temp is running up there above the normal mark so you think I could pull the vent an see if door is sticking is that what was wrong with your

    I am a proud owner of a 2001 Mercedes Benz ML55 AMG and stumbled across this video while searching for one involving a blower motor replacement. I sure hope my blend motor doesn't go out! I noticed that there's not many w163 AMG vids and I think that I'll be posting some myself.
    For instance, I recently replaced my tires and it was nearly impossible to find the stock sized tire! I ended up going with the closest size which is a 255/55/18 which I would recommend to anyone who has the same problem. Federal Couragia tires at $84.00 each! Not cheaply made tires, as I am quite pleased and impressed with these tires. Anyhow, I will be doing some upgrades which I would like to share with the W163 community. Along with sharing some encounters I have had upon owning this awesome SUV.
    My first ML was a 2010 Bluetec, then I owned a 2006 ML350, and this ML55. Yeah, I love these SUV's and knew that I had to buy one upon sitting inside of one at an L.A. Auto show.
    Ok, I'm rambling on but, my main point is that there needs to be more W163 and W164 vids. Keep up the good work! Do you have a blower motor replacement vid?

      junglist1soldier I have not had the pleasure of doing the blower motor yet, However I don't believe it is too difficult to do, the blend motor on the other hand does take a bit of time, but most folks should be able to handle it. I should have a blend motor video coming up soon. Thanks for your tire recommendations and looking forward to seeing some videos. Thanks Joe!

    Hi Joe, I just bought a 1998 ML320 for my granddaughter. It is not heating, the vehicle hadn't been driven much in the last few years so I changed the thermostat. Still not heating. I found your video and told her to have her boyfriend check this out. She called tonight to say the checked it out but, it is working but still no heat. Other thoughts you may have? I am thinking to flush the cooling system since has not been used much and probably has never been flushed. Thanks.

    • @joesnowmobiles
      @joesnowmobiles  5 лет назад

      How does she know that the blend motor is working? I can almost guarantee that’s her problem. The only other possibility’s that someone put in stop leak and clogged up the heater core. Flushing it wouldn’t do much.

    1998 ML320 here. Well, watched Tyrone's vid. Had my AC stuck on Hot. Replaced the Blend Door. Duh. Still same problem. Even when I push the lever under my dash with hand, and hold it on Cold side - still get Hot air blowing. Go figure ...

      Sounds like your AC is not actually working have you confirmed your r134 is at right pressure and your compressor is kicking on when you turn on your AC?

      @@joesnowmobiles Yes, so far: Blend Motor replaced, clutch relay replaced, 30amp fuse replaced, interior knobs working OK, system charged with coolant. Still blowing hot air My mechanic tells me it is electrical problem.BTW: it is 112F today. Good times :)

    Hey joe I’m at the end of my rope and I need your help... I replaced my compressor ,expansion valve ,drier/canister, flushed the lines and the condenser. Vacuumed the system for over and hr. Also added 8oz pag46 oil to compressor . Great! Now I use Ac manifold gauges in order to charge the system. I turned Ac on in car to high to start the charge and nothing happens. Ac light in car lights up but clutch does not kick in to pull r134 through. Checked fuse for cooling fan as well as K26relay.

    hey man. I have a 99 ml320 that when I turn on my blower, it sounds like it's rubbing BAD. Any clues on where I need to start disassembly? sounds like it's behind the glove box, but not sure

    Great information. Have you had your blower stop working and if so any information on that? Turned car on today and no blower all of the sudden, checking fuses and relays but no luck yet.

    • @joesnowmobiles
      @joesnowmobiles  7 лет назад +1

      Hi Tony,
      I have not had the blower stop working, however that is a possibility, I would do the quick tap test lol. Bang underneath the blower motor with your hand to see if it will kick on, sometimes they get a dead spot, and a little tap will free it up temporarily. Its also possible that you have a bunch of leaves and debris in there that have made it past the filter and jammed up the blower blades. If you open up the dash to get at the blower motor, check the plug terminals for power when you switch it on and off, if you have power to the plug then you have a bad blower motor. Hope that helps!
      thanks
      Joe

    Hello, Joe, I was hoping you could help me out. I have the same problem in my 99 ML. I have popped off the silver rod/cable from the white scissoring thing. By grasping the silver rod with a hemostat, I can move it right and left a few inches and can feel something move, presumably the blend door. However, there is no change in temperature. What am I missing? Any help is greatly appreciated.

    • @joesnowmobiles
      @joesnowmobiles  8 лет назад +1

      Willworth Oberg you move the white scissor part if I remember correctly not the silver rod. That may be why your having this problem. The rod is connected to the motor you are probably just moving the motor gears back and forth instead of the door flap.

    Hello, After a dry failure my ML 400 CDI V8 Diesel automatic transmission refuses to restart. I got annual all the fault codes and removed the air in the circuit nothing, I leaned towards the pump nothing it expels the diesel and arrives well at the filter. I even try to put gasoline on a stifle which I then placed at the air intake (air filter). He tried to start but also stopped early, I do not see the result that none of the injectors are wet but the return returns as soon as the diesel. Need help for the future. cordially

    Joe...When you completely replaced the motor in your other ML did the new motor just work out of the box or did it have to be synced in some way with the heater controls? Thanks

    • @joesnowmobiles
      @joesnowmobiles  7 лет назад

      Joe Fugazzi that’s a great question, personally I didn’t have to adjust or sync anything it was literally install and connect the plastic lever and it was good to go. It’s possible that you would have to line up the lever with the small hole on the motor but it should just be plug and play. Hope that helps!
      Thanks

    Yes it has 155 000 miles so you're probably right. Would it still be behind the glove box on my r/h drive model? Many thanks!

    • @joesnowmobiles
      @joesnowmobiles  8 лет назад

      +Lance Williams yes I believe it would be just to the right of your glove box if your diver side is on the right hand side.

  • @djrdaddy
    @djrdaddy 8 лет назад

    Wow thanks so much for your time. I'm in the UK so I have a r/h drive w163 ML 270. I hope the blend motor will therefore be on the opposite side, also behind the glove box, and not behind my instrument cluster!? My fan is only blowing hot and as you demonstrated, there is a change in the airflow, but not the temperature. I don't mind the heat for now as it's winter but come summer I'll definitely need to have the a/c working cold! Funny thing is, I had the centre walnut panel (and radio out) recently to replace the fog lamp / low range switch. I put it back together and now there's the heater issue!! Coincidence? I wonder!

    • @joesnowmobiles
      @joesnowmobiles  8 лет назад

      +Lance Williams Removing the center panel with those parts on my car would not effect the operation of the blend door, however it may have unplugged or damaged something in your controls. That being said the blend motor is a very common issue and may be unrelated to you removing the other parts. If your car has anything over 100,000 miles I would not be surprised to see a bad motor that needs replacement. Hope that helps!

    i have a SLK 230 year 1998, i am stuck with the hot air now. in December i was stuck with the cold air. so i cleaned the duo valve and that fixed the problem. but now i am getting only the hot air when i need some cold air ... please advise

    • @joesnowmobiles

      This car is unfortunately not in my wheelhouse of expertise, but I did find this info on www.benzworld.org "When you go through AAC control for faults you may see 1417 and 1418. They are the right and left duovalve faults.
      Most think that the valve is located in the inlet side of the heater coolant water. That is not correct. The valve is on the return side of the heater coolant line.
      When you are in AC mode(Low cabin temp requirement),when you start the car voltage is sent to the solenoids to pull down the valve piston and thereby closing the return off so no coolant enters the heating system. If there is a short or if the valve gets stuck and can't fully close a fault is generated and because it is not apart of the emissions circuit the CEL will not be activated.
      If you do not have the fault codes-----don't waste your time on the duo valve. Look elsewhere and by going through the ACC and reading the actual values will you know what direction you should follow"
      I hope that helps!
      Thanks
      Joe

    Hello is this when you keep hearing a clicking sound, behind the dash and it drains the battery? That's what I have. Thank you

    • @joesnowmobiles
      @joesnowmobiles  6 лет назад +1

      Asias Sales I’m not so sure this would cause a battery drain, but if your heat/AC is not changing then you probably do need a new motor. Have your battery tested just to make sure your battery is working properly.

    Could you tell me which way would be cold or Hot? Mine is stuck and I have no heat. Thought it was the heater core so I cleaned that or but still no heat then I found this doesn't move at all

    • @joesnowmobiles
      @joesnowmobiles  8 лет назад +1

      +Clinton Allen I think the door needs to be all the way to the left for heat, and to the right for cool. Open your glove box, pop the metal lever out of the plastic gear and work it back and forth, you will see right away which way needs to go to have heat or AC. Hope that helps.

    • @samio187
      @samio187 8 лет назад

      +joesnowmobiles I get nothing either way I put it -.- now at a loss for what it is since the heater core is hot

    • @joesnowmobiles
      @joesnowmobiles  8 лет назад +1

      Clinton Allen When you say you get nothing, is the air coming out hot or cold? What vents is it coming out of? If there is no air blowing then you probably have a bad fan blower motor.

    • @samio187
      @samio187 8 лет назад

      +joesnowmobiles well it comes out just no heat either way the door is put heater core has been flushed, cabin filter replaced, it's blowing hard, I'm thinking maybe I didn't bleed out all the air? Because other than replacing the heater core hat sounds like the last option

    • @joesnowmobiles
      @joesnowmobiles  8 лет назад

      +Clinton Allen No I doubt it is your heater core unless you put some radiator stop leak in it? Sometimes that can clog up a heater core. My guess is that your blend door motor is broken and stuck either between the AC and Heat side or more on the AC side and your just getting cool or luke warm air. It should be just slightly to the right of the glove box area. Hope that helps.

    How would you slide the dash?

    • @joesnowmobiles
      @joesnowmobiles  6 лет назад

      ETERNAL._.SOLITUDE you have to remove all the screws holding the dash in place then you can move/slide the dash back enough to get to the blend motor.
