Super nice rifle and that is great shooting for a WSM. I looked hard at these 5-7 years ago, it is a cool idea. I already had a 17 HMR so I went with a Savage M25 in 17 Hornet. I absolutely love the Hornet, loading for it is huge for me here in CA where we can’t order ammo. In a perfect world I think the WSM would be really cool but I hate being at the mercy of what’s in stock and what people charge for it.
I hear you. I've got a couple of cases of the lead-free 17WSM ammo, specifically for California hunting. When that runs out, it will be hard to replace!
I have had my Savage Bmag with heavy stainless barrel and thumbhole laminated stock since 2015. I agree it won't group quite as well but.... it's pretty close. Anything within 200 yards is dead for sure. It is one of my favorite rifles. Mine shoots the 20gr better than the 25gr as well. I wish ammo was more available, good job I had 1000+ rounds before the current crisis. I ended up buying a 17HMR as well as that ammo is always available. The 17 caliber is accurate and fun!!!
I have had my Savage about 5 years now. I have tinkered with it a fair bit. It doesn’t shoot as well, I call it a 1 1/2moa gun and that I believe is an ammo issue FPS is all over the place and I don’t think it is an ignition problem with the firing pin. I have a fair stock pile of ammo and still buy it when I find it at a good price. I just have a hard time dropping 3k on a rig I don’t shoot at least once a month. I will stick with the ugly Savage unless I decide to build one myself.
@@varmintermagazine if not mistaken, Winchester owns Olin which makes the 27 caliber nail gun cartridge. They just made dies to put a shoulder/neck on the case.

good information totally agree. I wouldn’t even consider any other rifle in rimfire if they made the ammunition better, aka match grade ammo.. the 22 is popular because you can get a lot of different ammunition and a lot of different match grade ammunition.
